Advantages: Perfect PDA Disadvantages: Graffiti language can take some getting used to
...missed the point of the Palm OS.
It isn't a replacement for a desktop, it's a PDA in it's own right. Basically, it has every feature you are likely to need in a mobile environment; notepad, telephone book, diary, calculator and email synchronisation, and, even better, with the plethora of software that is available (shareware, freeware and the odd commercial title), you can view Word ane Excel documents, create a database, play games (everything ... ...screen.
Built in IR means you can transfer data, and programs, to other Palm OS users.
The unit synchronises with the PC via the Hotsync cradle and software and is one of the easiest setups I have seen in some time.
All in all, one damned attractive piece of kit ...

Advantages: Size and features Disadvantages: lack of MS compatability
...years ago and joined the Palm revolution. I had been using a DayTimer paper system - backed-up by DayTimer software. I thought that as long as I could print my address book / calendar / etc. that I would be fine. I soon found that carrying a large organiser became combersome. I was travelling through Heathrow and saw a great deal on the Palm, so I finally bought one.
I quickly exported my DayTimer data to MS Outlook and began synching my Palm. Since ... ...of colour screen on the Palm III is a disadvantage, but for my use it has been fine.
The only thing I miss, is the ability to use it for MS Excel and MS Word, but then again, the documents that I tend to work on would not fit on the Palm anyway.
I have now had this Palm for almost 2 years and it is still running fine. I can't count the number of times I have dropped it and it just keeps working. ...

Advantages: Earns you money and can still be sold at a very high price! Disadvantages: Bit old now-a-days
...after 2 years that the Palm Pilot III can still earn you money just by using it. I recently found a programme which will let you make money from your palm. The site which lets you do this is currently down, but you will need the internet plug-in for the Palm III. It is much like the vice-versa of Goto.com search engine in which you get paid for visiting other sites and staying there for a certain time.
I recently got a check from the site at $75.43 ... ...also amazed to see that Palm III's can be sold for such a high price!
I was looking in the local paper today, and noticed that Palm III's were being sold for around £75, even though there is now a Palm Vx! I have now sold my Palm III though, at a pretty amazing price of £110, but mainly due to the fact that I had a much modified varient of the Palm III, which I liked to call the Palm III v1.2
Maybe I'll get another Palm someday! ...

Advantages: Huuuuuge amounts of software for it Disadvantages: Graffiti writing system is a bit slow
THe palm III itself does not really amaze - it is a very good organiser etc., but the Graffiti system of writing is a bit slow - a keyboard would be better...
But the stuff you can download for it is absolutely amazing ... just check out palmgear.com - 1000s upon 1000s of games, dictionaries, medicalness, sports tables, golfing assistants - EVERYTHING!!
And, while you have to pay for a lot of it - there are loads of excellent app's that are FREE! ...

Advantages: Quick to use, light and cheap Disadvantages: Low memory and poor screen
...a great benefit.
The Palm has become essential to me since I recently has my laptop stolen but luckily all my contact and diary events were in my Palm.
I recently purchase a Nokia 7110 and by adding Multi mail pro have been able to access by e-mail via infrared over the net. There is also an HTML browser call Proxiweb that lets you view standard web pages in a compressed format.
The only limitation is the 2MB of memory and the naff design but ... ...compliment my laptop not replace it. Nevertheless, I'm sure I'll be upgrading to another Palm model soon.
UPDATE - 2 years on from my initial purchase and I've dropped my Palm! The screen shattered and guess what? It's not covered by the warranty ... time to go buying another. ...

The genie 2000 is ready for the plunge into many foreign countries with dual band technology, which means it operates at both 900 and 1800 Mhz. It has a large screen so that SMS messaging can be rapid and almost fun the keypad is slightly on the small side of things but useable. The menu navigation is good with a different method of selection, a good idea by Philips. The phone also uses voice messaging which allows you to be a serious show off and ...
