Advantages: Help to keep yourself organised Disadvantages: Batteries run down a bit quick
...looks pretty good.
The Palm Pilot has loads of features on it already, including an address book, date book, and a memo pad. Although writing on such a device as this takes a bit of time to get used to, after a while you find that the technique starts to come naturally.
This model has 2mb of memory, and I have found that this is plenty of space, with room for you to add on some of the thousands of programs you can download off of the Internet. ... ...enables you to ‘sync’ your Palm Pilot with your computer, creating a backup of what you have on there. You can also enter data on you PC, and the transfer this across, which can save a bit of time.
Another helpful feature is the To Do list, where you can add entrys for the tasks you need to da, priorotise them and tick them off when you have completed them.
You can also get games that you can play on it, which can be useful for long ...

...for money. The palm is a pen based system and once you have mastered the graffiti style of writing you are able to navigate the system easily. The sole problem with pen based systems and particulary with the graffiti style is mastering certain letters or just remembering them.

cool for beaming my Nokia phone number list to my palm which is then backed up to my PC, and if I change phone I can rebeam the list to the new phone.

The only drawback to the palm IIIe is the need for the disposable batteries which last around 2 months depending on use. However when you weigh this against the cost of an extra £150 for the rechargeable model this doesnt become such a consideration. ...

Advantages: Easy to use, easy to read, lots of functions plus downloads available Disadvantages: Flimsy, batteries run down really quickly, the colour is a bit naff
I bought this with a view to using it instead of a diary but it really doesn't make a very good substitute.
I opted for the light green version which looks cheap and nasty but it was the only colour in stock at the time. The first thing that struck me was the fact that the fold-over cover wouldn't last long - it didn't. The little stylus is a devil to get out of it's hole if you don't have nails, and easy to lose when you do manage to retrieve it.
... ...much the same as every other PDA. It is easy to use, the icons are clear to understand and there are drop down menus a la windows. There are lots of programmes available on the internet to download for it, but they tend to use up loads of memory. The 'hotsync' cradle idea is good and means that you can back it up easily. On the down side, you need to back it up regularly as it goes through batteries like there's no tomorrow. I still use a diary, ...

Advantages: Inexpensive and feature packed Disadvantages: Not upgradeable
The Palm IIIe is one of the budget range Palms, costing only a little over £100. It comes in a clear plastic case, and looks very nice! I bought it because I wanted to have a PDA, but could not afford to spend very much.
Considering the price, the IIIe has a lot of features. It may only have 2Mb of memory and a monochrome screen, and the OS may not be upgrdeable, but other than that it is a regular Palm. It has the same programs as its bigger brothers, ... ...recharged when you put the Palm in the HotSynch cradle. If you are a very heavy user, you may find you spend a lot of money on batteries, but my sets last about a month, and I use my Palm quite a bit.
I find 2Mb of memory is more than enough at the moment, and am very happy with my Palm. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a PDA. ...

...with the same cradle and palm desktop software.
The palm PDA's really come into their own when they are used in conjunction with the Microsoft Outlook Conduit to read your PC email offline, and reply offline.
The included Palm Desktop software included is adequate, but not substantial for use, but you can download thousands of other Freeware / Shareware / 3rd party apps.
Battery life is excellent, (About 3 months for a set of 2 AAA batteries!)

Advantages: Excellent Value Disadvantages: No Colour
The Palm is an excellent organiser to have. I have just bought it two days ago and already it is always in the PALM of my hand. The Palm IIIe has excellent features with thousands and thousands of freeware and shareware programmes. I have downloaded this excellent programme (free) called Avantgo which allows people to see some websites on their handheld computer or Palm top computer. If you are thinking of getting a PDA (personal digital assistant) ...

When I bought my palm 3e, I didn't expect to get much out of the 2 Megabytes. It turns out that it is ample; I have about 15 extra apps installed with plenty of free memory. The date book, memo pad, todo list & phone directory come in more useful than you'd think. It is also very tough (I've dopped it three times!) and just the right size to go in a pocket. Since purchasing my Palm, my life has changed. I used to be disorganised and not know whether ...
