To occupy in full with it as a tall technology friend but with little time around me, I want to come in IIIx that I now already have almost for a long time a half year today briefly onto the Palm. Unity now and then at the beginning: I come too now, in terms of this long time, for the result, that it can nevertheless be the Palm IIIx Organizer useful, however in no case as importantly as my PERSONAL COMPUTER is, or is of Handy! With a format of 8x12 cm, Palm III. Organizer is a very practical device. It fits ideally into the palm of the hand or into the pocket or the file suitcase. He ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, sufficient memory, easy to use, notepad, address book, calendar, reliable, durable, upgradeable, connection to PC easy to establish

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of multidmedia features, limited document length

I have had the palm pilot for just under a year now. I had previously tried out one of the psion models and returned it after it stopped working for the nth time - I found it to be fairly unreliable. On the other hand the palm pilot is incredibly reliable, the only time it doesn't work is when the batteries run out! This model has 4Mb of memory which is more than enough. The calendar is very useful and runs on ad infinitum. The telephone/address book is incredibly useful and the facility of writing notes means you can add in extra information about contacts. The memo pad is for me the most ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, fully featured

Disadvantages Disadvantages an organiser, not a mobile PC

When my old sharp "organiser" died with a knackered dot matrix screen a year and a bit ago I decided to replace it with one of those nice handwriting recognition organisers that id seen around. A quick flick through the argos catalogue showed a couple at the £80 mark but alittle more research showed that these didnt take your handwriting at all, you just used the supplied stylus to tap the letter keys displayed on the screen. More research revealed the palm pilot range but also showed the jump in cost - i decided not to bother. Would you believe the very next day i spotted a collegue with one ... more

The Palm 3x is great, as the cost is much less than any other PDA, especially the 5x. They are basiccally the same machine, but the 5X costs way more and is not worthe the extra, even if the screen is slightly better. It is easy to read in the dark with the backlight but you have to be careful not to damage it. Apart from that, the actual design is great. It's a nice size to fit into the palm of your hand or trouser pocket. I would recommend it above any other, especially the handsprung or the palm 5x. ... more

3com's Palm 3x is great. The cost is brilliant compared with other organisers that are available and its a good offer compared with the 5x models. The cost is a lot less, but he loss in features isn't that great. The design iss good, the size is perfect to fit into pockets or carry around and the battery life is reasonable. You will be need a few spares though. Software included is basic, but great, however the numebr of users of the Palm Pilots is so huge that the number of utilities and programs available from the web is huge. I'd recommend the 3x to anyone thinking about getting a PDA, but ... more

Advantages Advantages small, cheap, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages small memory, not colour

This was my first PDA. It is powered by the fantastic Palm OS operating system, which enables it to run 1000's of programs. The 3x itself is around £250 - cheap for a PDA. It comes with built in software, although much more can be obtained free from palmgear.com. I would recomend this organiser to anyone who hasn't owned a PDA previously. To dedicated palm users i would however recomend my new organsier - the TRG Pro. The product was speedy and easy to use. The lack of color makes the product dated however, also the 4 meg of memory gets used up quickly when used for a while. Battery life is ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Small, lite, cheap, many upgrades

Disadvantages Disadvantages You cant find them in corn flake packets :-(

The Palm IIIx is the ultimate PDA. If you're looking for a full blown laptop in your pocket, packed with as much junk as you can possibly cram in there, and leaving you wishing this device had and alt+ctrl+del function, then the Palm IS NOT FOR YOU! If on the other hand you're looking for a fast, powerful way to quickly access names, addresses, timetables, schedules, and emails (fully MS Outlook and other app compatible), then the Palm IS FOR YOU! If your looking for a simple way of keeping all your personal info to hand for fast access, then the palm was built perfectly to for fill this role ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, Light, easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited for more intense users

The Palm IIIx isn't necessarily cutting edge when it comes to PDAs these days but it is certainly one of the most fun and easiest to use. It has what you need from an organiser there ready for you, an address book, calender, memo pad, expenses, all easy to understand and use. The stylus used to input text takes a little while to get right but once you have it seems 2nd nature, and there is always the option of using the on screen keypad if you get stuck! Overall I'd have to say these are very useful machines, and at a nice price too!! ... more

    Advantages Advantages Get organised!

Disadvantages Disadvantages You may want more capacity

The IIIx is the first PDA I bought having used a paper organiser then a digital diary. As I'm not technically minded I was a little concerned over whether I'd cope with it, however, I found it an absolute cinch to use. There is just so much software available, much of it free, that I would recommend you buy the largest capacity machine you can afford. The 4Mb available on the IIIx seemed huge, however 8 months on I have upgraded to the IIIxe with 8Mb. I have had to use Palm's technical Support which is absolutely first-class. You should shop around for prices however, in my experience the High ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages Price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen

The Palm 3x is great, as the cost is less than theat of the 5X. They are basiccally the same machine, but the 5X's screen is much more superior. It is difficult to read in low light levels, and if you press too hard you can ruin it. Apart from that, the actual design is slightly too large for my liking. It does not fit into my trouser pocket like the Palm 5 does. I would only recommend it if cash was short, otherwise spend that bit extra and get the palm 5x. Memory is also better at 8 megs on the 5x. ... more
