Advantages: USB sync, expansion capability, improved OS Disadvantages: Price
...development as far as Palm are concerned. The Handspring PalmOS machines have had USB synhronisation for years. This not only frees up a valuable serial port on your PC, but means faster (a *lot* faster) HotSyncs. The downside is that Palm have introduced yet another form of edge connector at the bottom of the device. There was outrage in the Palm community when they switched from the classic Palm connector (found on every Palm up to the IIIxe) to ... ...not an existing Palm owner, you probably don't care, however, if you are: none of your peripherals will work. I'm sure some third party will address this with some kind of adapter, but really Palm...
The new range now uses a 33MHz Motorola VZ processor, rather than the 16MHz one found in the older Palms (IIIx upwards) and the 20MHz one found in the Vx. I hate to say it, but you probably won't notice any serious speed gains except in real heavyweight ...

Advantages: Stores everything you will need. Disadvantages: Complications in writing.
...entrepreneur; however I have a palm handheld. Admittedly I did not buy this myself; it was given to me from my L.E.A. as part of my learning recourses package, to help me get through university with Dyslexia. And it has managed to do just that!
WHAT IT IS
The Palm m500 is no longer top of its range, (it has limited “beeb” noises and not sound, and it is in black and white) but is still far more than the average personal organiser! Palm computers ... ...tap the icons. From most Palm tops you can link to a PC, and also in the case of the Palm m500 an Apple Mac. The memory of the Palm is 8MB which is extendable though multi-media cards.
WHAT IS DOES
Without any extensions this palm handheld computer can store 1000’s of addresses and telephone numbers, and written or drawn data. There is a diary which can be viewed by hour, day or month, you can edit the importance of each meeting, keep things private ...

Advantages: Stylish, light and functional Disadvantages: No colour screen
I've had the m500 for about two years now and it has never let me down. It's a good solid PDA work horse. The software that's preinstalled, although basic does "exactly what it says on the tin". The calendar / appointment function displays are clear and appointments can be set to repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Various alarms can be set to remind you of appointments and there is also a vibration feature with can be used in conjuntion with ... ...to set up and has enough fields to add e-mail and multiple telephone numbers for home, business mobile etc.
There is also a basic "To do..." list function which you can assign priorities to and store in seperate folders.
A useful feature for jotting things down is also available which works like an electronic post-it note. At first I thought this was a little gimmicky but I'm amazed how many times I've used it to jot down a diagram or take someones ...

Advantages: Small, Easy to use, Light Disadvantages: No colour screen, no real sound
This has got to be the best PDA for the price. I managed to pick up one in a sale for about £100. Now I know it doesnt have a colour screen and the sound is, well, awful but lets face it. We dont usually use a PDA for the kind of things that need sound and fast video.
This PDA lets you sync your email, check diary appointments, doodle, write essays or notes and best of all it lets you play games on a crowded train :)
Comes with IR built in and ...
