Advantages: Speed, versatility, capability, and ease of use! Disadvantages: Doesn't play well with Vista (then again what does?)
5 Reasons I think the Palm T/X is a great find.
I began my PDA journey with the Handspring Visor , outgrew it and moved on to Handspring Visor Deluxe; bought most of the springboard modules, fax/modem, camera, memory, keyboard, etc and finally sold it and turned to the (all in one) Sony Clie NR70V (which I subsequently over worked and burned out). Thus began my 2 year search for a better PDA. I don't know why it took me so long to come back to the ... ...line, and others?
#2. The Palm T/X does what a PDA is supposed to do...manage your personal, professional and business information. No- it doesn't have a little camera that takes still photos or a short video clip, but how many people who have camera phones use them for real photography anyway. I have a digital camera with 6.1 megapixels if I want to take a picture worth developing. No- my Palm T/X does not double as a cell phone. I have a cell ...

Advantages: Stable, excellent OS; masses of free software available; still the top dog. Disadvantages: None.
The Palm TX has been around for a while now and so you may find it a little odd that I'm writing a review of it.
More odd is the fact that the TX is still sold new, years after it first came out.
The reason? As a PDA, it has yet to be surpassed.
Not only is it extremely easy to use and connects to open wifi hotspots with ease, it also has a massive collection of free software available online - from games to productivity, from connectivity to ... ...(Blazer) but you can also run Opera and some other browsers on it too. The email software is also more than adequate.
It is also a top multimedia player and when used in conjunction with the right software, can happily display streaming tv and, if you connect it up to a stereo, makes a handy internet radio.
If you are using it as a souped-up iPod replacement, you can upgrade the storage using any SD card (and they are stupidly cheap at the moment) ...

Advantages: everything! cheap reliable, fantastic features Disadvantages: no spare stylus or screen protectors in box
I got my new Palm TX in August this year and I have been very impressed with its performance and flexibility. I previously owned a Palm Tungsten E which screen was 320 x 320 resolution and had no Bluetooth or Wi-fi, so these 2 features are great additions for me.
For those who have never used a PDA they are all touch screen and most have handwriting recognition to save having a keyboard and in Palm handhelds this is called Graffiti and is very handy ... ...those long journeys.
The new palm desktop software is similar to the previous but has a much easier interface for adding photos and videos by simply dragging and dropping and a similar new tab for adding your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
The software package includes many useful programs. Pocket Tunes is an excellent MP3 and WMA player although again requires an SD card to store the music, The latest version of documents to go is included ...

Advantages: Easy to use, fast, and capable Disadvantages: No Cradle
I have worked the TX in a busy environment. utilising the WIFI, bluetooth and email, sms and mp3 ona daily basis. I must say it is very reliable, fast and easy to use.
It is a great all round personal management tool. Slip a 1gig expansion card in it and you have plenty of room for mp3s, pdf docs, word, excel files and ebooks.
Battery life is good however extensive use of wifi does drain it somewhat quickly but i've never experienced full drain. ...

Advantages: Modernized for communications Disadvantages: Steps backward for user-friendliness
A step backward from the Tungsten T, my previous palm. The T/X has not moved forward, design-wise. And cut some useful features. No charge-indicator LED. Screen less responsive. It seems like its forever resetting itself, losing a number of settings along the way. Bottom of screen permanent virtual buttons are not user-configurable! BAD! This is not a happy camper! And this: now extra $ for cradle, which is badly designed, with insufficient place ... ...full-time glow. T/X has no "back" button, like on Sony palms, that was a brilliant function for navigation. Tungsten spring-loaded stylus was lightning fast to deploy, even in hardshell case. Latter case also allowed headphones. Now T/X has done away with both possibilities. Awkward to use. And apparently a slower processor than in its immediate predecessor. Seems like they are slowly closing down their business. Perhaps because of Treo phones? Too ...

Advantages: Clear/bright screen, easy to use software. Disadvantages: Power button on top of unit is a bit temperamental
The Palm TX is one of the best hand held units I have ever used, the screen is very vibrant and watching movies on the unit is excellent. The applications available for the Palm software are endless including, chess, word processor, MP3/MPEG player and countless amounts of games. As well as the TX being a wonderful unit to use, it also has a disadvantage; the power button on the top of the unit very rarely works and therefore I had to install a shutdown ... ...one of the 4 buttons on the front of unit to power it back up.
Advantages for myself include:
Clear display;
Simple to use;
Light and small unit;
In-Built Speaker (suprisingly good for such a small speaker, but obviously to get the best quality, use headphones)
Expandable memory (SD memory card) ...

Advantages: It has loads of applications for every day business Disadvantages: Software quite User-unfriendly
I received the PALM T/X as a present and at the time the only data bank / portable personal data tool I had was an old Casio personal agenda.
The PALM T/X is a very good device to store personal data, like Calendar, Phone book, etc. Also, I soon bought a 2Gb memory card, which allowed to greatly upgrade the device standard memory. One issue I found is the memory slot: in fact, there is no protection for the meory card, which may be accidentally ... ...example when transporting the Palm in the pocket.
Other not-good characteristic is the software interface, which is quite User-unfriendly and old-looking and when accessing some applications it does not allow to close them. Time to time I observed crashes, however, it is easy to recover from them.
Other than that, this is a very useful and good device, which, despite its drawbacks, I recommend. ...

Advantages: Large viewing area, Large memory, Wi-Fi. Fast Disadvantages: No microphone.
Having had a Palm Tungsten T, for about 3 years I decided to update, and went for the Palm T|X, and what a piece of kit! it blows anything else I have used out of the water!
I use it for work and pleasure and would be totally lost with out it (It also can be used as a Sat Nav system as well)
With its large viewing area it's great to surf the web via the built in Wi-Fi or through your GPRS phone via bluetooth. The screen can be rotated to landscape ... ...a film. Or just listen to some music with the built in MP3 player software.
The only thing that it does not do is record memos like the Palm Tungsten T can. But with all the other benfits I can live with out that.
Would recommend to anyone! ...

Advantages: Great media carrier. Light and compact Disadvantages: Horrible setup instructions and connectivity with macs
...very happy upon purchasing the palm tx model however, when the time came to sync it to my computer all hell broke loose. Because i use a mac it was terribly painfull to setup. The information on the website and the box is unhelpfull. I had to spend about 2 hours on the internet doing some research on how to sync. Although palm provides their own software, using would mean having to manually transfer all my contacts and information to that application. ...

Right from the old school palms, with black and white screens, Palm has used their icon-based operating system to sell their well designed product to us!
Handspring combined the power of a phone to some palm-handspring PDAs and that worked well, but Palms focus was changing. They wanted to make easy-to-use products that people would buy because they look great and perform fast and because they were Palm!
