Palm

Advantages: Nice design
Disadvantages: crap camera

This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It incorporates most of the latest features and technology that is currently available on the market. Unfortunately it contributes significantly to global warming. It's really a great little device with plenty of features that ...

...fat fingers. I have used Palm OS PDAs for many years so I have a lot of data and applications from previous devices that I want to maintain and I was keen to stay with the Palm OS operating system rather than switch to Windows at this stage. It was easy to move the Treo 680 from my Palm T5 without any loss of data. Now I only need to carry one device instead of a PDA and a phone. The stylus is a bit fiddly to use when compared to the chunky T5 one, ...
...times, which is surprisingly good. Palm OS however does not support 3G so the internet access is quite slow by the very latest standards, although fine for occasional use, so this is probably not an ideal device for someone who spends a lot of time surfing on the move. Battery life is not as good as my old T5 PDA and it does need to be charged almost on a daily basis, but then that is to be expected with such a lot of functionality in a single device. ...

Handspring, PalmOne TREO 680

Advantages: It's the new Treo 650! But it's a 680!
Disadvantages: None

The Treo 680. A fantastic upgrade from the treo 600 and treo 650. Unless you are an Orange customer. I found out to my disgust that when my Treo 650 went badly wrong, Orange could no replace with another 650 nor could they upgrade me to a 680, as their agreement with Treo had ended. Sad. So did my contract with Orange. Treo was and remains the best on the market in my mind. They pre-date the Blackberry and have always been better than any Blackberry ...
...many features, you'll think it's the Sunday Times in your palm. The Treo 680 in grey and silver - and I think there is a red version on the market, too. Many of the original features from its old 600 and 650 predecessors are retained, such as the single switch at the top of the unit to switch the ringer on or off. Simple. And miles better than the Nokia attempts of "Menu", "Profiles", "Personalise", "Select" etc etc (although the last time I had ...

Treo 680 Smartphone

Advantages: Small, Light. easy to use and sync with desktop
Disadvantages: Slippery to hold but silicone case solves that

Having been a PDA user for many years now, I decided to go for a smartphone on my next upgrade as carrying both a PDA & a phone around in places where I don't take my handbag ( like walking the dog in the park or going to the beach while on holiday) was begining to be a chore. The Treo 680 is small, light and slim enough to go in your pocket and with the keyguard activated there is no fear of making an unscheduled phone call by mistake! I have a ...
...bright red colour in this country! Phone calls can be made directly from the contacts pages and there are all the items like missed calls, dialled calls, and received calls lists to help keep track of your phone bill. Also one can programme different ringtones for each group of contacts so you can tell who is calling before you get to pick up the phone. Text & picture messaging is also there to use, great for sending a picture postcard to the family! ...

Palm Treo 680 "Should be in PDA Hall of Fame"

Advantages: Full range device, office on the go^
Disadvantages: Not Windows based.

The Palm Treo 680 offers a high level of comfort. The device makes you feel professional and important at the same time. Easy to use and you will always find new ways to use it. Palms Treo is definitely the best touch screen, slash QWERTY handheld on earth, and the price is reasonable. The VPN capabilities are awesome ,gotta stay safe from the hacker dudes right? Downside would be that it is a little heavy and the fact that it isn’t Windows based ...
...on be windows based .Makes since to me. Ever since I purchased the PDA I have been infatuated with it, like it never grows old. Who knows maybe my kids will think it’s cool when they grow older. This Treo belongs in the Phone Hall on Fame along with the Razr. Mark my words; if this Treo gives out I will purchase the same Treo again, that’s how much I love it. ...
