Advantages: Compact, excellent screen, fast processor, availability of software Disadvantages: Easy to turn on by accident if you don't use the cover
I have used Palm handhelds for many years now starting off with the Palm Pilot Personal and moving up through the Vx, finally buying a Tungsten T about a year ago. I remember when I bought my first one that everyone was telling me I would never use it… how wrong could they be! The Tungsten T was a great improvement on my previous models for several reasons… • Totally new processor making it much faster in operation
• Higher resolution screen with ... ...PC or with the included Palm Desktop program.
• Clock, Calculator, World Clock, Expense, Voice Memo
• Documents to Go – to synchronise Word and Excel files
• ArcSoft Photobase - view photos in high-resolution colour – nice to have a photo of a loved-one on your Palm!
• VersaMail - synchronise with multiple email accounts wirelessly using Bluetooth and a compatible phone or with your computer via HotSync cradle
• Web Browser and WAP browser – ...

Advantages: Its a palm sized, fully functional computer Disadvantages: Grafitti interface can go haywire with overuse
...the joys of using your palm for pleasure...NOT THAT WAY! I'm talking about the Palm Tungsten T handheld PDA, a fully functional, palm sized computer. I must admit, I'm a bit biased being a computer enthusiast but, on the flip side, that also means that you can trust what I'm saying as truthful and enthusiastic. With that said, on to the review.
When the Tungsten T (TT) was initially released, it was heralded as the next generation of handheld devices. ... ...let down, because the newer Palm models have the Grafitti 2 interface and also allow direct input on the screen, so that your handwriting becomes typed letters. I've experienced handwriting recognition issues after prolonged inputting, but then again, I wrote a fantasy novel using the poor little TT, and that might be to blame. But, that's a minor negative because of all the positives the TT offers. The color screen is a fantastic hi-res 320 X 320 ...

Advantages: small, fast, sexy, best palm ever Disadvantages: relatively high price
...make the case for a palm handheld from 3com. I used to be a dedicated Ipaq fan but got increasingly disappointed with it. So I decided to take a bold step and try out the new Palm Tungsten. In one word: AMAZING! I will compare, wherever possible the Tungsten with the Ipaq. Note that I am comparing the new Tungsten with my previously owned Ipaq 3850.
For exact specifications of both PDA's I refer you to the www.palm.com and www.compaq.com
Look and ... ...still a bit bulky. The Palm is not much lighter (6.2 oz vs 5.6 oz for the palm), but much smaller (length 4'' vs 5'' for the Ipaq). This is due to the fact that the bottom slides open to reveal the grafiti writing area. The garfite colored aluminium casing feels much more sturdy than the aluminium looking, though plastic (!) casing of the Ipaq. I think overall the Ipaq used to be the sexiest PDA around, but the Tungsten has certainly taken that no.1 ...

Advantages: Small. Syncs well with Mac OS X. Disadvantages: SMS software lacking some functionality.
...from the rest of the Palm range.
I bought mine in Dixons at the start of the year (2003) and it set me back around £370 plus an extra £40 for three years fully comp insurance. I know a lot of people see these policies as a bit of a rip off but I figured seeing as it probably wasn’t covered for loss or damage (only theft) on my home contents insurance and I was going to be carrying it around everywhere it was a worthwhile investment. I see now that ... ...the screen. With the Palm I can read the mail easily and reply using the stylus rather than my phone keypad. Bluetooth tops this whole experience off by allowing me to do it all without the phone leaving my pocket or having to line up a pair of infrared ports. It’s a convenience thing mostly. You can also send and check SMS on your phone using the Bluetooth connection although I’ve yet to find some really decent software to do this with as when I ...

Advantages: Compact, user friendly, cheap, bluetooth Disadvantages: No Wifi, low earphone output
I've owned this Palm for just under 9 months now and it has been quite an eye opener. I had wanted to own one of these since they first came out but the initial cost was rather expensive so I held off until it dropped in price.
I bought it to help me through the final few months of my degree by keeping me organised (and entertained). The unit is solidly built and comes with a clip on screen cover.
It has served me well, and is especially good for ... ...much easier to carry than a laptop and makes less noise, which was good when I had to do work in the library.
The bluetooth function is very useful. I purchased a cheap GPS receiver on Ebay and now regualrly use the two together. It is excellent for route finding and would be useful for short outdoor treks.
With the right software it is possibe to surf the net using your home PC's broadband connection. Very useful if you can't be bothered moving ...

Advantages: Brilliant when new Disadvantages: After two years use it begins to deteriorate
...new "T" to replace my Palm Vx which had done me a good turn but was beginning to play up.
I loved the "T" right from the start, it was fast in its work, small for my handbag or pocket and did all the usual things like Date Book, Contacts, etc and one press on the Hot sync button on the cradle and all my Word and Excel documents and notes prepared on the go were transferred seamlessly to my home PC using the Documents to Go programme which came in ... ...on the bright colour screen. Voice recorder is good too, but I soon changed the button on the side to "Date Book" for I often found the unit recording by itself having obviously touched the button by mistake on picking up the unit.
Then after two years things began to go wrong, first thing I noticed was that the screen had "slipped", a tap with the stylus produced the wrong result! This meant redigitizing the screen, firstly now and again then more ...

Advantages: Very versatile, looks good and plenty of add-ons Disadvantages: May still be expensive
...ooooo....they had colour now. My Palm Vx needed to go! So a new game was created; find a portable device that could replace my Palm Vx and play music. And was not too dear. And was in colour. And I liked. So the hunt began.
Ooooooo...the Palm M505 has colour. And is expandable with its own memory slots. And was cheap. But no music. So I set the bar a little higher, and went to the comparison chart at Palm's homepage.
But what's this......one Palm ... ...cradle and internal speaker and Palm OS 5 and Bluetooth. All good really.
So, when I received mine, with a 128mb SD expansion card, I immediately had a fantastic MP3 player that was light and stayed on for 8 hours. With a Palm Portable keyboard, it does all the word processing abilities of a £1000 laptop with the included Office2Go software. The MP3's can be loaded onto the SD Card and played via the RealOne software or, my favourite, AeroPlayer ...

Advantages: size and screen Disadvantages: weak battery
...all. Previously, I owned the Palm IIIc. This is such a better unit. The 5-way nav is very usefull. I installed 2 utility programs, Slidefree and Graffiti Anywhere, and now I no longer need to slide the unit open to have full access to all the functions. The hotsync is so much faster due to the USB connection, as opposed to the former/older serial connection. Programs run faster. The unit is just more responsive in everything it does. Games look better, ... ...and less eye strain. Even the clock looks better. This is a great Palm. Other from this i would recoment the Zire 71. The Zire 71 does have a better screen, brighter and more crisp. However as long as they are not right next to eachother, no problems. The size. The Screen. The voice recorder. The memory/SD slot. The processor. The 5-way nav button. The metal casing. The solid feel. And it looks cool to boot. ...

Advantages: Size and comfort Disadvantages: Palm operating system
The only problem I see with this pda is that the operating system is still unsteady. For example there are still a lot of aplications that don't run.
(avantgo sync fails very often)
Old games have problems running too.
What is a Pro for the tungsten t is that for me as a women it is very comfortable and easy to carry in a regular purse because of its small size. You can see its elegant. You can easly find accesories for it too.
Another advantage ...
