Let me Read you Fortune!!

Advantages: Makes my life easier, light, compact
Disadvantages: cost

I purchased my PALM V at the beginning of the school year. I'm currently a college student, so I find it very important to get things organized. I used to use a daily planner (yeah one of those paper things). But let me tell you, my organization has increased dramatically since buying this PDA!!! The Palm V does most everything you can imagine. Included in the PDA: daily planner, phone numbers, Time, Alarm, Games, books, etc. The V is simple, sleek, ...
...lots of distances, weights, etc.), Palm mirror ( a mirror), mobile DB (I have the Kama Sutra, Sun Tzu's art of war, as well as Palm Bar, and all the Seinfeld episodes, etc. etc. Basically, anything you can think would need to get you organized--- Stick-it notes, memo-pads, to do lists, time, alarm, games-- is included. The Palm V is the sleekest and smallest PDA currently in the market. I've seen the Palm Pilot (the original one), the Palm III, ...

Disadvantages: Not a huge ammount of memory

...ask any owner of a Palm Pilot is "How has it changed your life?". The wallet sized organiser packs a mighty punch and was one of the first PDA (personal digital assistant) that fits neatly in your pocket. For anyone who has never seen one of these neat devices it is around the size of a mans wallet and has is basically a screen with four small buttons at the base. There is no keyboard with it (though one is available as an optional extra). Information ...
...as HOTSYNC, that makes the Palm Pilot on of the most versatile tools around. Not only can you back up information and enter data easily but due to the Palm operating system, you can also download extra applications. These applications vary from a Spreadsheet to a Racing car game and new ones are constantly being developed by Palm programmers around the world. Many are free to download and install though some make a small charge towards the cost ...

Ageing, but still invaluable

Advantages: Fits your work and social life into a small portable space; wide range of downloadable software
Disadvantages: Handwriting recognition not perfect

OK, so the Palm V isn't exactly the hottest new thing on the planet. I've had mine for about eighteen months, and it's still going strong. It's all there - address book, date book, to do list, notepad, calculator. If that isn't enough, hook it up to a PC and you can also download a variety of programs (and there's some good shareware out there) to do anything from play chess (there are plenty of games) to provide recipe ideas. You can send e-mail ...
...of your inbox. And of course, you can keep all the basic application data in step with Outlook (or just about whatever you use). It's not all been sweetness and light though - the handwriting recognition is not perfect although quite adequate; I've also had a couple of problems with broken buttons, but warranty replacement has been fairly swift considering (about a week). However, the real reason that I thought it worth writing an opinion on an ...

The most useful device I ever bought!

Advantages: Walking office
Disadvantages: The panic attack when I think I've lost it!

I upgraded to the Palm V when it first came out from an original PalmPilot. I had used the pilot extensively but the V had one major advantage; size. I wouldn't carry the Pilot in my shirt pocket as it was slightly too large, but the V is ideal. I carry it whilst at work continuously. This means that whenever I get stopped whilst away from my desk, I can agree to attend a meeting and book it there and then, or search for the info someone has just ...
...months ago. When I get back to my desk, I drop the V onto its cradle and press a button - thats it! Within a few seconds, all of my addresses, diary dates, notes and to-do items are coordinated with Outlook. There are also more add-on programs available for this little puppy than you can shake a stick at, and most are available to try before you buy (if they're not free anyway). ...

Long life? Light? Love it.

Advantages: Easy to carry around, syncs up to everything I need
Disadvantages: Can't play MP3s (but you buy an MP3 player for that!)

...my key criteria, and the Palm V has been great on all fronts. I essentially use mine as - a glorified diary (because I need something that will beep at me if I've forgotten something important) - something to play mind-numbing games on boring (short) train journeys - stuff like patience - something to sync up with AvantGo to get the Guardian downloaded to give me something to read on my way home from work. The best thing is that the battery will ...

...been a user of the Palm V for nearly a year now, and have no complaints whatsoever. Firstly, this is no replacement for a PC, and comparing one against a WinCE device is unfair. Yes, I surf the web, have e-mail, and WAP, and even ICQ! As you may guess, I use the Palm with both a Palm Modem and a mobile phone. Whilst on the road, it is useful for contacts, memo's, to-do list, etc, and also keeping up with e-mail etc. I use mine mainly for the calendar. ...
...Well, because the palm sync's easily with applications such as Outlook and lotus notes. I have lost my palm in the past, and after recieving a replacement, placed this in the craddle, pressed the sync button, and after a short time, all my data and applications where back on the palm as if it was my old one! Configuring the Palm for mobile data was a bit of a pain. Palm where quite unhelpful in this respect, so, after getting it to work, created ...

Palm V is not so hot

Advantages: Slim Design, Good Synchronisation, Great Software available.
Disadvantages: lack of memory.

...are looking at buying a Palm V, then DON'T. It has so little memory that it really makes it useless. When I first got it, I was pleased with it until I started downloading applications to it. Download one or two decent applications and you're struggling - and that's before you even add any other data to it. The Palm Vx is practically a Palm V with 8mb of memory and the difference is incredible. The Palm Vx is actually usable. Apart from the memory ...
...that all the things that Palm V does, it does exceedingly well. The synchronisation is first class, the software supplied is not bad and the size and design is first class. It powers in the cradle and really only needs to be powered a few minutes every day. I used it every day and did not need to recharge the battery for a fortnight. This was highly commendable. In all aspects the Palm V looks good, feels good and promises a lot. However, the lack ...

Disadvantages: can have some connection probs :(

the palm 5 is so hot it burns right throught your hands. This baby rocks out your schedule, keeps notes, a drawing or two, connects to your computer and proforms teminal functions. Man, this thing does everything but jump through hoops! I did encounter one minor problem though, the palm V I was testing had trouble catching sync with the PII 450 when I linked them through the palm pilot software. If you are in the market for a PDA, then the palm 5 ...

One of lifes essentials

Advantages: small, neat, multi-functional, stylish, re-chargeable
Disadvantages: none

I couldn't function without it. It's a shame I have to write 80 words because that phrase sums it up. Mail, addresses, memos, games (so addictive), re-chargeable (long, long life) etc etc. Need I go on. You could spend more on a PDA but I feel very strongly that if you can live without a colour screen then this is everything you need. I am highly mobile and it allows me to pack my entire lifes organisational needs into this neat little package ...
...There are many useful & cute shareware programs available and you'll be glued to the web for hours when you first get your palm. I also challenge anyone to say they have managed to fill the memory despite how many applications they download. Synchronisation is a doddle and I have never lost a piece of information thanks to the "save copy on PC" option. For the real "girl" there are many accessories that aren't just tailored to the businesmans lust ...

The Palm and the mobile phone

Advantages: no cables, so nothing more to carry
Disadvantages: low memory on the palmV

...to the internet with your palm and a mobile phone! I've recently bought Palm's Mobile Internet kit and it rocks!!! I can use my Palm V and my mobile phone (Motorola L7089) to wirelessly access the internet. The software is very reasonably priced, dead easy to install (as long as you have all the correct details for your ISP) and with the Infra red ports on both the phone and the palm, I don't need any cables or connectors. Palm for u?

Advantages: Good for quick notes
Disadvantages: No keyboard

I recently won a Palm V in a competition as was eager to try it out. The Palm V has a number of features including: A stylus pen for navigation of the touch sensitive screen Memo pad for quick notes To do list to remember those things that you need to do! Synchronisation with your desktop PC Docking station for quick recharge and connection Address book, for all of those addresses and details Date book, acting like an appointment diary. Infrared ...
...noticeable feature of the Palm V is not its functions but its size. It is less than half an inch think and weighs just 4 oz. The biggest downside to me is the lack of a keyboard. All of these palm devices are the same and therefore in my opinion are no contest to the Psion palm tops. The palm devices including the Palm V depend on you learning a new way of writing the alphabet or for you to use your ‘pen’ to tap out the letters of an onscreen keyboard. ...

Unimpressive.

Advantages: Synchronizes flawlessly
Disadvantages: Unintuitive, difficult to input.

...- I didn't buy a Palm V - I won one, and with that in mind, I'm still disappointed with it. Yes, it's nice to look at, and yes, it synchronises with your PC rather nicely, but overall, the package left me cold. Firstly, the stylus - I'm sorry, but I don't actually want to learn an entire other languge just to be able to write things on my Palm - I don't want to learn symbols for letters of the alphabet - I want something *intuitive* - which the ...
...problems with the Palm are simple ones - firstly that there's very little software included, and secondly that entering Data into the machine is a nightmare. It's just not worth the money. Buy the keyboard (which costs extra) and this might be a worthwhile investment. Otherwise, leave well alone. ...
