I am the proud owner of this Lumix and love it to bits.I have had 3 previous digital cameras. The first was a huge Casio QV 3500 EX (see my previous review) which I purchased in 2000 and is a museum piece now - how rapidly these machines have advanced since then. Even at 3 Megapix it did take some great photos though. The second which I purchased in 2004 was a much more modern Pentax - great little camera but I lost it and the reason was that it was in one of those velcro wallets which you are supposed to put on your belt. I know it must have fallen off when I was getting out of my car and I ... more

Advantages Advantages Too many to list

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be too expensive, may not be good enough for a Pro

This is one of the best digital cameras on the market. When I first decided that I needed a new camera, I set out to find one that looked smart, had the functions I required, and was slim enough to fit into my pocket like a phone. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 met all of these requirements, along with a whole lot more that I hadn't been looking for. It is quite simply fantastic- so heres why. Dimensions: (Approx) 90mm Length x 50mm Height x 22mm Depth This is just larger than my mobile phone and fits into all of my trouser pockets, ranging from tight jeans to wide cargo pants, with ease. There ... more

Advantages Advantages ease of use, image quality, build quality, large LCD monitor, stylish design

Disadvantages Disadvantages does not perform so well using zoom and flash combined, small memory card

I purchased this camera after doing quite a lot of reseach into small digital cameras. I wanted a camera that would be able to take high quality images that could be used via e-mail to family and friends and to be able to take professional pictures that I could use in my graphic design business. The camera has been an excellent buy. Here are the key points when considering this camera: The build quality is first class and the look of the camera is really stylish. This is a camera that is very easy to use. The mode dial is easy to operate - you can move easily from picture mode to filming ... more

Advantages Advantages High quality images, Optical image stabilisation, wide angle lens, compact, light, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps a tad small, noise level.

Hi everyone, I work as a promotions model and during the summer, my agency wished me to promote this camera in John Lewis. I was given the Panasonic FX01 to use for the duration of the promotion and I loved it so much, Im going to buy one (after the Christmas deby has cleared!) I hated having to send it back :( Firsty, 6 megapixels - more than enough for family snaps. You can print up to sizes of a few feet with a pixel count this high. Dont be swayed by cams offering 9 megapixels for example if you are only looking for family/holiday pics, you will pay more and not see a difference in the ... more

1 Star Quick review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 by cvbcvbcvbcvb 31/08/2007
i don't know what the hype about this camera is about! I bought it last week and I'm going to give it back. The zoom is terrible. It claims it has solved blurry shots, but it hasn't. If you want to buy an excellent camera, buy the SONY CYBERSHOT T20. That camera is fabulous. Take my word to this - do not buy this camera.

Advantages Advantages Picture Quality; Ease of Use; Camera Design

Disadvantages Disadvantages Need to purchase separate memory card

The FX01 is without doubt the best digital camera I have owned. It is a great looking, easy to use and reliable camera that offers great picture quality in all situations. Ease of use: I was able to get started with this camera right out of the box without reading the manual (although the manual provides much more detailed information for advanced users). The menu interface is extremely easy to use to switch camera modes, review and delete images, and change settings. Picture Quality: At 6 mega pixels the FX01 is able to take high quality pictures that can be printed in good quality in any ... more
