Advantages: Ease of use, lens quality, 18x zoom Disadvantages: NONE
...will start by describing the Panasonic DMC-FZ28. It looks in its appearance very similar to a DSLR albeit much smaller, it has the excellent hand grip on its right handside (just like an DSLR) and on top of this grip is the perfectly placed shutter release button. Obviously the DMC-FZ28 is no pocket sized camera, which you cannot expect with a camera that has an 18x zoom lens (I will cover this later and provide some pictures to show the awesome ... ...inch 230,000 dot LCD screen. Panasonic have really chosen well with the LCD on this camera, the display is very sharp and is easily viewable in all light conditions. The LCD also has an adjustable brightness and it can also be set to automatically brighten in bright light, another feature the LCD has is the high angle setting, this is used for taking pictures that involve you holding the camera above your head for example in a crowd at a concert ...

I have to say it was a dificult decision for me in buying a top of the range compact digital camera. My original idea was to replace my Nikon compact that i have had for 4 or 5 years . I have also got an SLR and all the associated lenses adaptors and all the gizmos you can think of.My aim was to buy a digi SLR to replace the 2 cameras. but as i looked into it i eventually decided that some of the bridge cameras met all my needs and i finally made ... ...those flippin lenses around.I really like taking pictures of wildlife and scenery so either i would have to buy a very expensive zoom lens or carry 2 (at least)lenses with me at all times.after studying magazines and talking to various people with top of the range digi cameras of various makes (Fuji,Samsung, kodak etc.)I decided on the FZ28.
May i say ,what a fantastic camera. I bought it with a 4gig SD card so that i could film movies if i wanted ...

The Lumix FZ28 is an upgrade to the Lumix FZ18 and is almost identical on the surface. The LCD screen is now 2.7", compared with the 2.5" screen on the FZ18 and there is an extra switch on the back now to switch between Recording and Playback mode - which used to be handled via the mode-dial - a definite improvement in my opinion. I understand that not everyone will be upgrading from the earlier model so I will keep this comparison to a minimum from ... ...the same size as you would find on comparable models such as the Fuji FinePix S1500 or the Canon Powershot SX10 IS, but it is very bright and easy to see, even in sunlight - certainly easier than the Fuji. The appearance is SLR-like, as is the fashion with these super-zooms, and it feels reassuring to hold with its rubber-coated protruding grip. In terms of size and weight, it sits between the Fuji FinePix S1500 and the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, measuring ...

i am a Canon fan, have been for years and think they take a lot of beating, for value and quality. but having read reviews on this camera, and the price, i bought one. this year my wife and I went out to New zealand, to see my Daughter, Son in law, and Grandchildren. I wanted a camera that did the lot, and this is as close as it gets. superb photos, lets you get right in close with the zoom feature, which also works when taking video ( although the ... ...that easy. the H.D. video is great and plays back fine, I have a Apple mac powerbook g4, and the video fills the screen, with very good sound. I know some people will be put off by the size maybe, but the camera is very light, and not that big or cumbersome, and will do all. I have a Canon powershot, with an angled viewfinder, took great pics and video. but it's in the cupboard now, served me well, but move with the times. p.s. the battery life is ...
