Advantages Advantages Very high build quality, good battery life and performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Low resolution screen, image stabiliser function unreliable

This camera is a perfect example of how the price of a good product can fall after a short period of time. In the first quarter of 2006, this camera retailed for £329 at John Lewis, but after a couple of months could be picked up for £149, which was precisely when I took the plunge, and replaced my ailing Sony compact camera. First impressions were very good. The build quality was high, and the unit felt very sturdy. For a camera novice, the options offered by this camera may be daunting, but intermediate and expert users will feel right at home. Initially, taking good pictures was a challenge ... more

Advantages Advantages 12 x zoom, Mega OIS

Disadvantages Disadvantages No custom bag, Uses own battery (non AA)

I was looking for a 12 x camera with OIS, and I was considering a FZ5 when I come across the Panasonic DMCFZ7BS. For just £30 more, I thought it would be better to get a newer camera. This camera was great; a big improvement over my LZ1. The best thing (and selling point) about this camera is its 12 x zoom. What it did not say on the box is that it becomes 16.5 x zoom if the picture is taken below 6MP, which is over 450mm! The OIS works to cancel out hand shake at such huge zoom numbers. There are bags of controls for you to fool around with. You can even set/fine tune your own white balance ... more

Advantages Advantages Fabulous picture quality easy to use great value for money

photography is a pas time to which i thouroughly enjoy. i have a range of cameras i just cant help to buy a new one and sell the odd one either i hope you will find this review full of information i have taken the trouble to add this cameras Features: and product specifications at the bottom of this review Despite a bevy of features - including a 2.5-inch LCD screen, a new wide screen VGA movie mode, and a joystick for controlling manual focus and manual exposure - the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 weighs in at just over half a pound and is small enough to stick in a backpack when traveling. Advantages Advantages superb image quality, zoom and macro, great image stabilisation and features

Disadvantages Disadvantages noisy in low-light. flash hard to control

We've had our FZ7 for 3 years and, in that time, we've not once regretted buying it. The camera is a compact zoom and fits really well in your hand. It starts up pretty quickly once you remember to remove the lenscap and has an array of features that will satisfy even the most ambitious of amateurs. What makes this device though is the zoom. At 12x optical, this gives you plenty of depth. What's more, and this is a little known feature, if you decrease the resolution from the standard 6 megapixels to the 4 and then 3, you can increase this optical zoom to as much as 16.5x - very handy when you ... more

Advantages Advantages Small lightweight camera, Great 12x zoom lens, easy to use with great results

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none to report

I brought this camera nearly 3 years ago and I have taken thousands of photos with it in various conditions and it performs really well. The 12x zoom is a very useful feature which is a welcome on this "bridge" camera, there has been many times when I needed to long zoom to capture the action. The 3 frames a second image capture has been a real help when im photographing diffrent sports due to there fast movement. I have been to several motorsport events such as F1, rally, hillclimb and other events and its performs really well. Being a bridge camera it has the P,A,S,M settings to control ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 by Andy01293 09/11/2007
I have owned this camera for over a year now and am very happy with it. Excellent value and quality pictures. Easy to use and an amazing zoom. From a boat the size of a pixel when zoomed in I can read the sail number. Pictures of the moon and the veins in a fly`s wing and pollen coated legs. Good battery capacity and handles large SD cards to hold 1000`s of pictures.

Advantages Advantages easy to use, stylish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I love this digital camera, it is the best camera that i have ever used, it takes extremley clear pictures. It is very easy to use, even for a beginner like me. I used to have a Kodak easyshare, but i found it did not take very good pictures, and didnt have a very large memory. Although this camera dosnt have an internal memory, it does come supplied with a small memory card (16mb - holds about 4/5 pictures at the best quality), which i upgraded to a bigger one. Picture sizes are large, and do take a while to email, but dont take long to upload to the computer. The pop up flash is very ... more

Advantages Advantages Zoom! Picture quality, ease of use, size.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any

Superb lens coupled to fast response results in a very usable camera. I have been a 35mm SLR user for may years and while I liked the idea of digital cameras the limitations on the optics for anything affordable meant I just could not justify going to digital. Along came Panasonic with the FZ7 at a price I can afford and no looking back. I can't afford a digital SLR but this is the next best thing. The lens is fantastic and the stabilisation works really well. i have noticed slight purple fringing at high zoom and some noise at high ISO settings but not really apparent unless you know what it ... more

I have had this camera for over a year now. The battery is still in fantastic condition and lasts weeks. I went travelling for 6 months and took over 2000 pics and only charged it twice! This is the best camera for the money.....the quality of the pics is so amazing i have taken pics of all sorts of things and been pleased with all of my photos eg close ups, live bands, scenery ect. Advantages Advantages Good quality optical zoom, light weight, pleasant and easy to use, excelent stabilization system

Disadvantages Disadvantages "Grainy" images when using ISO 200 or ISO 400, 6MP is a bit too few when printing large sized pictures.

This was my second camera I bought and I was completely satisfied with it for the first couple of months. But as I took more pictures, I could distinguish some downsides of this camera. Firstly, the "grains" or "dead pixels" when taking pictures with ISO 200 or ISO 400, at times it can be really annoying, when a perfect picture is ruined by those "extra" pixels. I have noticed that this problem was solved in further models, like FZ-30, and even more in FZ-50, I have tried all of them, and the difference is really noticeable. If you change to this camera from an older 3MP cam with 3or4x optical ... more
