Advantages: Very high build quality, good battery life and performance Disadvantages: Low resolution screen, image stabiliser function unreliable
...better when developed.
Furthermore, Panasonic has marketed this product as featuring an image stabiliser, however after extended use, I have found this feature to be generally unreliable, and very unpredictable so I would recommend that users and potential buyers also invest in a tripod, as this will be an invaluable addition when taking shots in windy conditions and of landscapes.
This camera comes highly recommended. ...

Advantages: 12 x zoom, Mega OIS Disadvantages: No custom bag, Uses own battery (non AA)
...when I come across the Panasonic DMCFZ7BS. For just £30 more, I thought it would be better to get a newer camera. This camera was great; a big improvement over my LZ1. The best thing (and selling point) about this camera is its 12 x zoom. What it did not say on the box is that it becomes 16.5 x zoom if the picture is taken below 6MP, which is over 450mm! The OIS works to cancel out hand shake at such huge zoom numbers. There are bags of controls ... ...Another thing is that Panasonic does not make a custom bag for it. I had to use a SLR bag, but this camera is not really SLR size. I can fit this AND my LZ1 in the bag nicely, which says a lot about the small size of this camera. The main design fault of this camera is the joystick control thing. Most people do not find it easy to use, as it is not in the most natural position. The IR assist lamp tends to be blocked by the other hand, but it still ...

...and manual exposure - the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 weighs in at just over half a pound and is small enough to stick in a backpack when traveling. The DMC-FZ7 packs a wealth of features and functions into its compact body, offering everything from fully automatic "Simple" mode to advanced manual control.
LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens with a 12x Optical Zoom
The DMC-FZ7 features a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens with a remarkable 12x optical zoom, equivalent ... ...camera. A film camera with an optical zoom this powerful would be so big and heavy, you couldn't handle it with one hand. However, the DMC-FZ7 is small, lightweight and easy to handle. It also has Panasonic's Extended Optical Zoom. While causing minimal deterioration by using the center part of the high resolution CCD, this function magnifies the image to give you total zoom power of 16.5x.

Advantages: superb image quality, zoom and macro, great image stabilisation and features Disadvantages: noisy in low-light. flash hard to control
We've had our FZ7 for 3 years and, in that time, we've not once regretted buying it. The camera is a compact zoom and fits really well in your hand. It starts up pretty quickly once you remember to remove the lenscap and has an array of features that will satisfy even the most ambitious of amateurs. What makes this device though is the zoom. At 12x optical, this gives you plenty of depth. What's more, and this is a little known feature, if you decrease ... ...and then 3, you can increase this optical zoom to as much as 16.5x - very handy when you need it. The image stabilisation system that goes with the zoom is very very useful too and means that you won't have as much shake on those telephoto shots. The screen is a good size and resolution and there's a TTL viewfinder too which is very handy for when you want to conserve battery life. On the programmable mode, you've got up to 8 secs of exposure which ...

Quick review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7
I have owned this camera for over a year now and am very happy with it. Excellent value and quality pictures. Easy to use and an amazing zoom. From a boat the size of a pixel when zoomed in I can read the sail number. Pictures of the moon and the veins in a fly`s wing and pollen coated legs.
Good battery capacity and handles large SD cards to hold 1000`s of pictures. ...

Advantages: easy to use, stylish Disadvantages: none
I love this digital camera, it is the best camera that i have ever used, it takes extremley clear pictures. It is very easy to use, even for a beginner like me. I used to have a Kodak easyshare, but i found it did not take very good pictures, and didnt have a very large memory. Although this camera dosnt have an internal memory, it does come supplied with a small memory card (16mb - holds about 4/5 pictures at the best quality), which i upgraded ... ...take a while to email, but dont take long to upload to the computer. The pop up flash is very effective, although i dont like the way it pops up, slightly worried that over time this may break. It also includes a red eye reduction which makes a lot of difference to pictures, i always used to get red eyes whenever i used a camera, even if it does have a red eye reduction, but this is the first one that i have found that actually works.

Advantages: Zoom! Picture quality, ease of use, size. Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...Along came Panasonic with the FZ7 at a price I can afford and no looking back. I can't afford a digital SLR but this is the next best thing. The lens is fantastic and the stabilisation works really well. i have noticed slight purple fringing at high zoom and some noise at high ISO settings but not really apparent unless you know what it is in the first place! Picture quality is excellent. Menus are intuitive and easy to find your way around. Battery ...

Advantages: Good quality optical zoom, light weight, pleasant and easy to use, excelent stabilization system Disadvantages: "Grainy" images when using ISO 200 or ISO 400, 6MP is a bit too few when printing large sized pictures.
This was my second camera I bought and I was completely satisfied with it for the first couple of months. But as I took more pictures, I could distinguish some downsides of this camera. Firstly, the "grains" or "dead pixels" when taking pictures with ISO 200 or ISO 400, at times it can be really annoying, when a perfect picture is ruined by those "extra" pixels. I have noticed that this problem was solved in further models, like FZ-30, and even more ... ...difference is really noticeable. If you change to this camera from an older 3MP cam with 3or4x optical zoom (which I did), the sense of good quality is just overhelming. 12x zoom feature is very useful, sometimes you may even want to go further from the object to use it. The easiness of using the menu is also a nice feature, you can figure everything out by yourself without using a manual, everything is easily and logically accessible. In my own ...

Advantages: The lens i amazing and the screen is good for looking over pictures Disadvantages: Slighly Bulky for having with you all the time
I have had this camera for over a year now. The battery is still in fantastic condition and lasts weeks. I went travelling for 6 months and took over 2000 pics and only charged it twice!
This is the best camera for the money.....the quality of the pics is so amazing i have taken pics of all sorts of things and been pleased with all of my photos eg close ups, live bands, scenery ect.

I personally take it everywher, it is a little bulky but lens is worth it, and i also studyed photography so can be a bit of a perfectionist with me pictures but am always happy.

Advantages: Takes fantastic pictures at basic level and for more advanced photographers. Disadvantages: Slightly large for carrying around constantly, but worth it for picture quality.
Having previously owned a compact other brand camera that was at the end of it's useful life we decided to upgrade when making this purchase.
The criteria we requested was to have a substantial zoom function, and be able to take photos without the flash in low light conditions.
It has proved to be very good in both these areas. In 'simple' mode it is extrememly easy to use and takes lovely quality pictures, and we are slowly working our way through ... ...us being only very amateur photographers. Night time pictures and fireworks were a new photographic area for us and these also came out in good quality.
The 'baby' function proved useful for a recent edition to the family - you can enter the baby's date of birth and the age of the child is displayed on the photograph - very clever! ...
