Panasonic in my book can make a camera, they have one of the finest collection of compact cameras of any manufacturer. Their addition a few years ago of Leica lens to their cameras was invaluable, this camera is no different. I sold cameras for 5yrs to photographers and novice consumers alike, and providing that you know what the numbers mean a consumer can become a photographer in time. That being said i wouldn't start with this camera at this price point there are many cameras from panasonic (to say the least) that will offer you almost the same quality with much less difficulty a camera ...
