Advantages: X10 optical zoom, wide angle, good battery life Disadvantages: None, maybe no view finder if you really do need one
I bought this camera as a replacement for our "family" camera we have used my wife's old 35mm Cannon for taking holiday snaps and felt it was a good time to replace it with a digital. "We" wanted a camera with a good optical zoom, "I" wanted a camera to take good panoramic shots (I have a Sony W900i and use the feature frequently).
There are not many digital cameras on the market that offer a high optical zoom and wide angle, most were either only ...

Advantages: Leica wide angled lens, 10x optical zoom, great looks and build quality, large screen Disadvantages: no viewfinder, proprietry battery pack, slightly heavier than the competition
...the Canon A710 and the Panasonic TZ3. Basically I went all out and read tens of reviews of both and I can say I could tell anyone all the features of both by heart.
Well here are a few differences and why I chose the Panasonic over the Canon. The first and most obvious difference is the zoom. The Panasonic boasts a nice 10x optical zoom whilst the Canon only has a 6x. Now this may not be a deterrant for some people, but I wanted a superzoom and ...

Advantages: Fantastic Zoom Lens from Wide Angle to Telephoto Disadvantages: No RAW setting
The TZ3 is a giant step forward in compact digital cameras, It has a fantastic optical zoom lens. At wide angle you can stand very close to your subject and get everything into the picture. At the other end of the zoom you can increase magnification 10 times and it has built in image stabilization to avoid shaky pictures. You can get even further magnification using simple settings from the menu displayed on the massive 3" LCD screen which is also ...

Advantages: fantastic quality, good all rounder Disadvantages: A little large
recently bought this camera and took it on holiday with me. This is my third digital camera, and I couldn't have been mored pleased. It's 10X zoom covers every situation you might need which is practical. I waited until this model came out because of the higher defenition of 7 megapixels. This camera hasn't got any manual controls like aperture or shutter priority however there are more than enough modes available to use such as:
'Warm' setting, ...

Advantages: excellent for travel Disadvantages: none really
Bought this camera as we were going on a Mediterranean cruise. I wanted a compact camera with wide angle lens for using on the ship but also needed a good telephoto lens as well.
I already own a Nikon D80 with 2 lenses covering 18-300mm but didn't want the hassle of carrying it around on a relaxing holiday. This wee beauty covers 28-280mm, there is no constant changing of lenses and the LCD screen can be easily seen even in bright sunlight so ...

I was looking for a camera that would take good pictures without too much intervention from me. Its what I got!!! I just point and click and great pictures every time.
The 10x zoom lense is fantastic, I am able to close up pictures from far away.
However the best feature has to be the image stabalization. I normally have very shaky hands and not one picture I have taken with this camera is blurred, that includes the pictures taken of moving objects.
There ...

Advantages: Build quality & X10 zoom Disadvantages: Heavy and thirsty on battery life.
...point and shoot cameras the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 has it's limitations, but in my opinion that is a good selling point. As a professional photographer I sometimes need the simplicity of a P&S to help capture a moment without over complicating it with loads of hi-tec equipment.
The DCM-TZ3 is one of the easiest cameras I have ever used and the image quality is easily good enough for anything the home user would need and more. I took one of these ...

Advantages: Big LCD Screen, 10 x Optical Zoom, 7.2 Mega Pixels Disadvantages: A little heavy
...been very good but the Panasonic is a step above.
Not many cameras for this price range offer 10x Optical Zoom & 7.2 Megapixels unless you go for an SLR. I got this camera for £150 off Amazon about 4 months ago and am very happy with the purchase. One major benefit is the LCD screen on the back which is massive. There are countless functions with this camera including 2 favourite picture settings. This allows you to save default picture settings ...

Advantages: 10 times optical zoom, large LCD screen Disadvantages: no viewfinder
Although this is a "compact" camera, measuring 105mm wide, 60mm high and 38mm deep, it has a viewable LCD screen which is 60mm long and 45mm high, which therefore covers most of the back of the camera. When switched on, in non-playback mode, the depth increases to a minimum of 55mm, and, on full zoom, to 70mm. The controls are easy to use, and the built-in lens cover saves you forgetting to replace it. There are six different still photograph settings ...

Advantages: durable and easy to use with sylish design Disadvantages: no viewfinder only an lcd screen
having sold digital cameras for over 2 years i have never come accross such a keenly priced, compact unit. You have the reassurance that it comes with a rechargable battery unit which lasts over 400 pictures between charges and the peace of mind that it is solid enough to withstand a shock or drop, perfect for travelling.
The lens is made by leica, giving a choise of picture ratios (4:3, 3:2, 16:9) coupled with the 10x optical zoom gives the best ...

Advantages: Massive zoom, 28mm wide-angle, Leica lens, 3" screen with dual view. Disadvantages: No viewfider
Although large and heavy for a compact camera, the combination of 10x optical zoom, 28mm wide-angle, Leica lens and optical image stabilisation should make anyone considering a serious digital camera, evaluate the TZ3.
Panasonic are one of the only manufacturers to take advantage of the sensor size to lens distance ratio effect, whereby decreasing the MP (effectively decreasing the sensor size), increases the optical zoom. Reducing the TZ2 from ...

I have owned the DMC-TZ3 for about 6 months and it has been a joy to use in a wide range of environements and conditions.
For skiing, I was able to capture clear, crisp pictures in bright sunshine and overcast conditions. The big screen worked well even in strong sunlight.
The telephoto lens is excellent for getting up close at sporting events and the quick start up time means you don't miss a thing.
I can't find any downsides and I would highly recommend this camera.

Advantages: Easy to use, light, powerful... Beautiful Disadvantages: I was after 10 Mega pixel originally...
I made a jump to this Camera from a 2 megapixel Kodak which I have had for quite a few years now, and frankly I have been extremely impressed from the beginning.
7.2 mega pixels provides plenty of sharpness to images, 10 x zoom lets you get right into the shot you want to take and the use of the camera is extrremely straight forward with comprehensive, easy to follow menus. It is ready for use within seconds of switching on and my recent holiday ...
