Since 1972 Panasonic have grown as a well established company in the UK. The Panasonic TH-42PZ700 is an awesome piece of kit. This in layman’s terms is a 42” Plasma screen HD Ready television with Free View built in, which will connect to every accessory you want it to.

The build quality looks tough and durable though in my opinion any TV this price needs to be looked after properly.

Advantages: Lots of HDMI inputs. Disadvantages: Only one component input. Keeps downgrading resolution.
OK guys ignore the blurb about this being a 'full HD' Its full HD with SEVERE restrictions.
I bought this TV yesterday and I thought I was in a pretty neat position since I've got 2 products capable of 1080P - an xbox 360 and PC with latest graphics card.
Got an XBOX 360? yes? Want to stream 1080P? yes? You know this TV has component inputs? Great Yes?? - No its 1080i for you.
Got a new PC with top notch graphics card? Yes? and want to stream ... ...for you.
If you're lucky enough to have a DVI-HDMI converter for your PC then you can enjoy 1080P but man is it blurry that way. I thought I was technically capable, and I'm still messing around, but even with the latests nvidia graphics card and software I'm unable to get it to display correctly.
OK, so assume you then sell your 'old' xbox 360 for a new PS3 then everythings 1080P right? No, not if you want picture in picture, then its down to ...

Advantages: Amazing picture, amazing sound Disadvantages: there are better looking sets
When buying a large TV 42inch and over i would always recommend a plasma. Movies look amazing and the response time for quick action movies and sport cannot be matched by LCD.
Picture from the freeview tuner is impressive and the epg is useful if you don't have sky or cable. However when this TV really shows of is when you give it some HD content. I watched casino royale on bluray in glorious 1080p and i was amazed i felt like i was there the picture ... ...were incredible. What is also a bonus with this set is the sound quality, the best i have heard from a tv without the aid of surround sound cinema equipment. The sound is clear and if you tweak with the settings and turn the bass to almost full you get a real boost to those explosions and action scenes. However at high volumes the back panel shakes and a slight rattle can be heard at high bass points but its very slight.
If you are looking to buy ...

Advantages: Great picture, natural colours, fantastic sound quality Disadvantages: Prone to screen burn, the remote is a little clunky
...but ended up buying the Panasonic for two reasons. Firstly, the colours on the Panasonic were much more natural than that of the Samsung; secondly, the sound quality provided by the Panasonic was far superior to that of Sony's offering. Since owning the TV, I've never had any problems with it. I love watching good movies and good documentaries with my other half and am completely satisfied with my purchase. '''One Warning!''' - don't play games that ...
