With the camera connected via USB cable to a PC, start up Windows Messenger and the camera instantly turns into a web camera. It is ideal for teleconferencing over the Internet, or for surveillance camera use. The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations with one hand. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the instruction guide. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily, without even taking your eye off the subject. Panasonic has also improved the grip for easy one-handed shooting. The grip is slanted to follow the natural contour of the fingers, giving the camera a more comfortable fit in your hand. The grip also has a low profile and is angled for easy carrying. These features minimize hand strain, making it possible to shoot for long periods without fatigue. The Quick start mode helps shoot videos on the spur of the moment. This mode lets you shoot those not-to-be-missed scenes just 1.7sec from the time the power is turned on.

Panasonic GS27 is one of the best entry level miniDV tapa based camcorder. Easy to use, good picture clarity and the convenience associated with the mini DV format makes it a good package. I personally appreciate the manual control(aperture and shutter speed) in addition to auto mode while capturing video. Enthusiasts can use this tool to learn the basics of videography. GS27 does not compromise on the qualitative aspect and has preferred to keep bare minimum features to justify its pricing. A fair play and well positioned product for beginners.
