From the original Lady of Sorrow
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
ladyofsorrow
Advantages: Moving and beautiful
Disadvantages: Tiresome with an overdose of historic detail
...the whole of this tale Pandora is placed in nothing but stereotypical roles as a wife and daughter, she is known for nothing else other then which household or man she is attached to. The book might as well be entitled 'The wife of Marius' as it seems she has no life other then at his side which is just utter folly and recklessness on the part of what usually is an exquisite author.
Thirdly - Again actually, I can't emphasise on the extreme lack ...

Panning Pandora
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
Borg
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Over indulgent, trite, boring.
...Lestat’s buddy David Talbot asking Pandora (a vampire, of course, who enjoys not only sucking blood from veins, but from hearts, too) to write her life story for him. Well, his pal Lestat is in a coma and he probably doesn’t have much to do at the moment. Pandora agrees and there follows page upon page of mundane boredom with little happening until around the page two hundred mark when Pandora becomes a vampire.
There are some old ...

Pandora's Box of Tricks
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
carolinesite
Advantages: A must for th echronicle readers, fans of period books and also for fans of Anne Rice
Disadvantages: Can get a little boring
...which is the book that Pandora was first mentioned. The last two, Tale of the Body Thief and Memnoch the Devil were both about the vampire Lestat again.
Anne Rice now tells us about other vampires that have been mentioned in her past books, and this includes Pandora. Others are still mentioned in this book, including Lestat, Armand and Marius.
At the end of the book, Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat gets his own body back after he was tricked ...

Makes A Nice Change From Lestat
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
minxette
Advantages: Really well told narrative
Disadvantages: Can be slightly too wordy sometimes
...
"Pandora" follows the life of Pandora (eerie that, huh?!) from Roman times to present day. Once again, the way Rice describes ancient Rome and Antioch is up to her fabulous standard. I love the way Rice does meticulous research into the history of the places she sets her novels.
It's almost like being there through reading her prose. Pandora begins her tale in ancient Rome, and how, after the death of her father, she has to flee the city where she ...

Amazing book
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
Lissy111
Advantages: Magnificently written book
Disadvantages: There enough books as good as this!
To start off I think this is a brilliant book, you know the old saying "don't jugde a book by its cover" well I did in this case that is why I picked it up. I have heard of the name Anne Rice before this book but I knew nothing about her work. The cover looked a little different and the egyptian part of the illustration drew me to it, I then took the book out (of the library).
What a fantastic read! It is a story that really appealed to me. I don't ...

Beautiful Pandora's Tale...
Review of Pandora - Anne Rice by
schpic
Advantages: Interesting, thrilling, funny, almost tragic
Disadvantages: No Lestat for Lestats lil groupies *grins*
The Vampire Pandora is asked to tell the story of her life, how she was born into darkness, and how she has survived so long. It's a wonderfully written life story, from Pandora's childhood to meeting her lover Marius for the first time, to coming into the "savage garden" as Lestat and Louis may say. It's a brilliant book for those wanting to see the Vampire life from an ancient females point of view, which isn't seen often through the Vampire Chronicles. ...
