extortionate fines

I understand that parking restrictions and fines need to be in place, especially in city centres, as it would cause chaos on the roads. However, I do feel that I must vent some of my anger on the way my Local Authority in Bristol works in terms of parking. The charges for parking are...

takes time and thought

I imagine that at least a few of you reading this will have been on the wrong side of a traffic warden at some stage or other. You will be familiar with that sinking feeling as you return to your car and spot the foreign object attached to your windscreen. In most cases there will be a valid...

~ ~ One of the “mad cabbie’s” favourite spots on the planet is Tuscany in Italy, where many a blissful family holiday has been spent What has this to do with parking fines and clamping, you may well ask? Well, let me explain. ~ ~ In most of the Tuscan towns and cities, such as...

As from this week most of you will know that council owned CCTV cameras can now be used to film and capture an image of your car at any time. If you are breaking a parking or driving violation you can automatically be issued with a ticket through the post. This is a real result for local councils...

I suppose this isn't going to be terribly useful to people that a) don't drive in the UK; b) don't drive in London. Furthermore, specific parking regulations and methods of enforcement vary from area to area. The pointers I'm about to give are particularly relevant to parts of West London...

Its better than attacking the traffice warden

Parking tickets are my pet hate! I agree that parking is a major problem in a lot of communities and there has to be strict control over this. I see this, as a small part of a major transport problem in towns and cities, which no doubt I will write an opinion on in the near future. However there...

GET YOUR OWN BACK

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE

Parking wardens, you either love them or hate them and i hate them. I live in central london and my local council has decided to contract out there parking services to NCP a private company, since that time they have been swarming local streets in clamp van's and tow away trucks. I myself was...

Extorting money from motorists

In a recent development, the new transport for London rules will allow traffic wardens to take appropriate action in "drive Off" cases, when motorists drive off from a place where a parking ticket could have been issued to them, but had still not been written. It is a common practice that seeing...

Beware shoppers to Lidl, Oxford Road, Reading. I have just been clamped and ordered to pay £147.75 to have it removed. My crime was to call at a local shop prior to doing my weekly shopping at Lidl. It took all of 15 minutes. May I suggest to Lidl that they install parking meters whereby the cash is refunded when paying for shopping in-store. Meadway in Reading have this system and it works well. Look out Lidl, TESCO OPEN SOON - watch this space. r,called at the shop , returned to the car park at 11.00am. to do my shopping. In the fifteen minutes I had been away my car had been clamped the tow truck was in situ

Danger to other road users

There seems to be a lot of whinging about the whole parking fine issue these days. True, parking in towns and cities can be a nightmare, but forward planning can make all the difference. If you know that parking is going to be a problem, why don't you consider going early in the morning or last...

I was clamped by the same company last night. Very similar experience as yours. I am looking into this. They had not towed my car away but I had to pay the full £300. I am planning to complain and will be digging to find out as much as I can.

Frontline parking services are operating illegally without a contract. You can find out if they operate under the legal framework. Ofcourse whenever you are parking it is your responsibility to ensure that you are not parking illegally. Clampers are here to stay since it helps the UK economy!!! (and i can believe i said that as i hate them with all my hearth and soul).
