Advantages Advantages latest fashions, online shopping

Disadvantages Disadvantages limited sizing, store packed with stock so hard to navigate

A few years ago, a new store opened in town- Peacocks. Aside from the essentials like underwear, pjammas etc which were quite good- the shop left alot to be desired and was decidedly boring! The men's section was practically non-existent and the kidswear was not the greatest quality either. So from this you'd expect bargains and prices like Primark- but I was surprised to read the labels and discover that this store wasn't rivalling Primark- in fact they weren't rivalling anyone as their stock was slightly over-priced and not very good anyway! Fast forward several years later and something ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality clothes at reasonable prices, no loud music and subtle lighting.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to manoeuvre round, untidy stores and assistants lacking manners.

Having finished work today and in need of retail therapy I began to wonder as I passed men and women, young and old, what exactly does it mean to be fashionable? It was a cold and blustery day today, and yet scantily clad women moaning that they were cold and men who were dressed by their partners or mothers breezed by me with looks that suggested the end of the world was upon us. While some of those people clearly were keeping one eye on the 'fashion world', there were others thankfully like myself who dress how they want to, and in what makes them feel comfortable. I would like you to note ... more

    Advantages Advantages Pretty much everything.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Their layout.

I would just like to write a review on the shop known only as Peacocks, based on my own experiences of using the one in Plymouth (and for those of you who wish to know or who are just being nosey, then it is actually in fact based in the Armada Shopping Centre which is a small shopping centre based on the outskirts of the main city shopping centre and is anchored by an avergely sized Sainsbury's shop). This is a clothes shop, and the clothes that they sell are dividied up in to sections - meanswear; womenswear, and childrenswear. In the childrens section, the clothes are split up in to not ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not good for the oversized!

Peacocks is a chain store offering clothes and assessories for all the family, originally from Warrington, Peacocks has currently over 460 stores throughout the UK and employs over 5000 staff and is part of the Peacock Group which includes Bonmarche and The Fragrance shop. (I find that the clothes are better quality than Bonmarche) I should have shares in this store, it is the only shop we have in our village - Heckmondwike, that sells clothes suitable for the whole family. The store is quite large, we used to have bouncers on the door when it first opened about 3 years ago, but they must ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages There isn't one in Crewe :(

Since moving to Crewe, I haven’t been able to get to a Peacock’s store regularly. There isn’t one here. Well, not that I know of anyway. Oh hold on…. no, there definitely isn’t one! I’ve just checked the store locator on the website and there’s no Peacocks in Crewe. Bother! There’s one in Crayford though. I bought some undies in there last week, so I know it’s definitely there. Not that that’s very helpful to me, Crayford’s a loooong way from Crewe. I used to visit Peacocks a lot when I lived in Manchester. The Stretford branch ... more

Advantages Advantages good value throughout the range, nice laid out stores, bright and welcoming, good product range

Disadvantages Disadvantages some quality is lacking and 'big name' labels are few and far between

Peacocks have recently arrived in our town. That is good news for families ‘on a budget’ and anyone looking for good value. The stores that I have visited, in various other towns, are all neatly laid out, smart without being ‘flash’. They carry a wide range of childrens, womens and mens clothes, plus towels, linen and accessories like ‘fake’ jewellery, underwear and socks - and all at keen prices. All of their goods are of pretty decent quality and there are often special offers on ‘name’ makes like currently Nike and Adidas T-Shirts for under a ... more

Advantages Advantages good prices, wide range of items in stock, well laid out stores

Disadvantages Disadvantages questionable quality at times

The town that I live in is not exactly a metropolis of Shopping. We have the bare essentials - one of most types of shops (except far too many 'charity' shops and estate agents!) Until quite recently, if I was looking for a shirt, sweatshirt, jumper, pair of trousers, I'd have one option, a small menswear shop in a side street - Yes, it really is as dire as that! A similar situation, if you are a woman, except at least there is a small branch of 'New Look' in town and a Mackay's shop which is primarily for children. But now, at long last we have a 'new kid on the block' with the arrival of ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, good quality clothes, very stylish and up-to-date

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Although this shop seems to have been around for years, its only lately that i actually started shopping here. When i was younger, it always seemed to be at the same level as QS and Bewise; cheap clothes yet not always the best quality. However, last year the Peacocks chain appeared to have a revamp. Gone was the drab stores with budget prices, and the result was vibrant sytlish clothes at a bargain price!! The first thing i notice when i go into my local chain is that it is definetly aimed at a younger audience. The older stores in less built up areas seem to have a lot more for older people ... more

    Advantages Advantages Reasonably priced

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some items are quite tacky

Peacocks has been around in my home town of Colchester for quite a while now but I, myself hadn't really noticed the hidden away store until earlier this year. with its great selection of clothes, accesories, furnishings and even food, this shop is worth a look! Peacocks is know as a 'High Street discount shop' but I would say the stores themselves are better known as a 'cheap budget' shop for 'not so wealthy' people and families is what would call the upgrade of 'QS' and the down-grade of 'Matalan'. It's in between the middle somewhere, but definetly on its way up, infact my store in ... more

Advantages Advantages CHeap, good quality, lots of stores around

Disadvantages Disadvantages Smaller stores can get cramped and hot

Once upon a time Primark had no rivals, purveyors of the pile it high, mass made in China (and Manchester!) and sell it cheap, almost disposable clothing, but as far as I can see Peacocks are fast on their heels! My own younger recollections of Peacocks are of somewhere to be avoided, filled with strappy brown clodhoppers and school uniforms. But over the past couple of years it's definitely moved with the times. The store is very bright with a nice, almost sparkly sign outside. The ones I've been to so, Manchester Arndale, Manchester Cheetam Hill and Bristol Broadmead have huge double doors ... more
