A sleek, shiny silver 5.0 megapixel camera which is lightweight and very nice to handle with rounded corners. A black, velvety type soft case, strap, manual, CD Rom and video cable, 2 x AA batteries plus inbuilt memory of 12mb.

The Pentax Optio 50 is one of the best digital cameras on the market. The small compact design and simple control layout, allows even novices to get to grips with its many functions quickly. The camera has an excellent zoom, both optical and digital. On the whole, the picture quality is very good. Though without a flash, the picture is easily blurred. The range of picture modes is useful, though you can get buy without using them quite nicely. The ... ...and the quality when transferred to the PC is very good. There are a few slight draw backs to this camera. The battery connectors are a bit tempremental, and can be easily broken off. The camera also eats batteries, so ensure you have re-chargables before purchasing. The camera has no speakers for the video function, though this is hardly a fault.
On the whole, a good little buy, recommended for first time buyers. ...

It is my first proper camera, and i must say that am far from being the proper photographer but photography has always been a hobby for me, esp taking random pictures. Its been three months since i bought it and believe me it is an excellent piece of work, no problem at all, clear perfect pictures...actually already taken nearly over 500 pictures, it even has an optionw where you can record a mini movie....its just too good to be true....believe ...

Advantages: Very Good Point and Shoot, Very Good Macro. Disadvantages: Not to good at night shots - slow shutter speed. Not enough manual features.
This camera is a good camera. Basically the Good Points:
Small,
Lightweight
Excellent Picture Quality - 5 mega pixels
Good Screen - 2.5"
Excellent at macro focus up to 3cm
Good 3x Optical Zoom - 3x digital aswell/
And Bad Points:
Not enough Manual features - shutter speed, f/stop.
Not to good at focusing at night
Shutter speed lags at night
If you use it on a tripod it seems to be ok at focusing - i think this is due to the shutter lag ... ...This camera is good for a point and shoot, and some of the picture modes are good (Portrait, Lanscape, Sport, Night) they aren't up to scratch for a A Level. Its good if you want a camera to put in your bag and take with you, to just turn on and take a picture of the nice view you can see.

Fantastic camera. Really simple and easy to use! Takes fanastic phtots even in dark night clubs! The video option is easy to use however there is no sound when you play back on the camera, only when you load it onto the computer. The camera eats batterys very quickly, porbably best to take spares with you when going out! the quality of the pictures is the best i have seen by a digital camera. tranfer of data is quick and easy and the softwear provided ...

Bought this for my girlfriends birthday last year to stop here using disposable cameras. She absolutely loves it.
Purchased from Pixmania whose service was very good.
The controls are easy to use, the little pictures on the control wheel are pretty self explanitory. It also boots up pretty quickly which can't be said for some other cameras.
The picture quality is outstanding, even taking pictures of the sun come out crystal clear.

...to use camera and chose Pentax for its brand name.
I have found the camera very easy to use and the large viewfinder is really good to see exactly what you will be photographing. Fortunately the digital format allows me to easily delete the errors like a daughter with no head. The ability to add different capacity SD cards is a benefit and I am really pleased at how well the pictures on these cards enlarge even onto a 26" LCD screen.
