Peoples Choice Insurance Services

Having trawled the Internet for cheap motor insurance quotes, I received a quote from People’s Choice internet site which was much cheaper than anything else I had seen. I bought the insurance over the Internet and shortly after received an email saying that my cover note would be arriving shortly. After a couple of weeks, it still hadn’t arrived, so I rang them up to find out where it was. They had no record of my customer number or me! After searching to save money on car insurance I found people's Choice who gave a very good cheap quote which I accepted. I also pointed this out to my partner who changed his policy over to people's choice and saving money. I had to renew my car insurance in January, I have been with the AA for 2 years, and through the AA with Advantage insurance. When my renewal came through it wasn’t really any lower than the previous year so I decided to shop around. Using the rather excellent confused.com and searching about the cheapest quote was with Peoples Choice some £55 cheaper with the AA and with cover still through advantage insurance. I originally chose this service because of the relatively low premium it offered. However, cheap and cheerful is definately not what this company is .... cheap and downright awkward maybe!! I recieved a phone call 9 months into my insurance period telling me that I owed the entire premium despite having set up a monthly direct debit, and that this needed to be paid ASAP. The person on the line was very unhelpful and it was me that ended up feeling that I was in the wrong, despite their incompetence. I used to just shop around for the cheapest insurance quote at my renewal, which is why I initially went with Peoples Choice. However a couple of weeks ago, I thought I was going to end up fighting a loosing battle like you do with all other insurance companies when you make a claim. I recently signed up to People's Choice after my current insurer increased my premium by almost 50% despite having 9 years' no claims. I then received a pretty brusque letter from People's Choice dated 30 August, received on 5 Sept, demanding information within the next 7 days. Apparently they had been "unable to obtain proof" of my no claims discount from my previous insurer. They demanded that the information be sent to them but gave no addresee instructions in the computer generated letter and no email contact details, just an 0844 telephone number with opening hours from 9am to 5.30pm.
