    Advantages Advantages AMAZING story line!

Disadvantages Disadvantages starting a little out place maybe

This is the first book in a series of 6 books called "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". This is a book I didn't intend to get! I knew, thanks to a certain website, that I would get this book through the post sometime soon, however, my library (as some of you may already be aware of) gets this book catalogue, and I frequently order out of it. This book was in there, but I am almost positively sure that I didn't order this book, but when my order came through and I collected it from the library, this book was in there, I asked if all these books were mine, and the librarian thought I had ... more

Lightning thief is the first book in a series of five books from author Rick Riordan. It follows a young boy by the name of Percy Jackson who is the son of one of the Greek Gods. For the first part of his life he lives a normal life not aware of his status of being the son of one of the Greek Gods.I have not mentioned who his father is so that I do not give away to much of the storyline. This book has also been turned into a movie of which I have not seen yet I thought I'd read the book first. In order to discover who his father is he must go to a camp called Camp Half blood and under go a ... more

INTRODUCTION If you're a fan of Greek mythology and a good action/adventure series, than I would recommend you go and buy this book at your local bookstore as soon as possible. This book titled, "Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief", by multi-award winning author Rick Riordan, focuses on the life of a seemingly ordinary young boy named Percy Jackson. Unfortunately, the most unusual circumstances never allow Percy to live this ordinary life. Every time he is enrolled in a new school, he ends up getting kicked out due to strange circumstances, sometimes he blows up the school, or other times ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to follow, nice length, fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Subject to taste, I found it a bit too weird at times

I first heard of this book through the press hype around the film when it was about to be released. I had not seen the film, but was interested in the concept of it and felt that I should read the series before even thinking of watching it. I was impressed. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the book over the short time this gripping story could have had me do so, due to lacking the time to sit down and read. Despite this, every time was a pleasant reading experience. I found the story quite easy to follow over a long period, while every page was filled with imaginative description which ... more

This was one of the first books i could get into. I hate reading, but this book is so well written that i couldn't put it down. Riordan does a great job of relating and to and engaging teenagers, so this is a great gift for teens, especially when you want to get them interested in reading. This book is full of Greek mythology, which i have found to come in handy in my later education. Even though this is a start to a 5 book series, it doesn't lack any qualities of a great overall book. This is the kind of book that you can read in a week because its so great. The Lightning Thief is funny ... more
