What a gripping read!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages: Gripping Read
Disadvantages: Got to the end of the book

Overall View: This is the fourth Jodi Piccoult book which I have read, and although I have become an avid fan I think that I would have to say that this is the best one yet. As always Jodi has researched the topic well. She has taken a topical subject and written an excellent account of it. She includes twists, which seem so unrealistic, but due to her indepth research manages to make them viable. The book tells the story of how a family deals with ...
...The mother works in the legal system and knows how often it fails the children that it is trying to protect. The book shows her drastic need to protect her child, and the struggle for the rest of the family to understand this response. It tells of how things which should be accurate can go wrong and the effects of making your judgements based on these facts, and how the family come through the other side, will it be together, or will it break the ...

Perfectly Fantastic Book

Advantages: Difficult subject handled exceptionally well
Disadvantages: none

Since reading My Sister's Keeper I have made a point of trying to get my hands on anything I can by Jodi Picoult. Her books have kept me enthralled each time I have picked one up and this one is no exception. ***The Background*** Jodi Picoult, to date, has written 13 novels beginning with her first, way back in 1992 entitled Songs from the Humpback Whale. From then on she has continued to write best selling novels as well as raising three children ...
...though in this thought provoking and often difficult at times to read book, which was published in 2004. ***The Story*** This story is all about Nina Frost, her husband Caleb and her 5-year-old son Nathaniel. Nina is a district attorney who specialises in prosecuting child molesters, something that is very frustrating as she knows that often the child is not strong enough to testify and that without physical evidence, the offender will hardly ever ...

A Perfect Read!

Advantages: Excellent story, good characters
Disadvantages: none

This is the first book I have read by Jodi Picoult and I chose it as a result of reading lots of positive reviews about her. I was not disappointed! 'Perfect Match' tells the story of Nina Frost and what happens to her when she discovers that someone has harmed her son in the worst possible way. The story follows her discovery of the truth, her immediate actions and the enormous consequences which affect not only Nina but her family as well. To ...
...to much away would be to say that this story takes place in Maine, USA, where Nina Frost is a very successful prosecuting attourney. She is married to Caleb, a man who builds walls and paths, and they have one son, Nathaniel. One morning, Nathaniel suddenly becomes mute. The parents take him to a psychiatrist where it becomes apparent that he has been interfered with. As Nathaniel cannot speak, the doctor helps him to sign which seems to give him ...

Almost Perfect

Advantages: Excellent characters, complex plot, terrific ethical/moral debating
Disadvantages: A little unbelievable, subject may be difficult to read about, some of the similes!

...complicated twists - and, happily, Perfect Match is no exception. The story centres around Nina Frost, a District Attorney who works prosecuting people on behalf of the state of Maine. She has come across many sexual abuse cases involving children and knows better than anyone how the law works: it often doesn't. Nina is already frustrated at the legal system that virtually ignores statements from children, who must undergo an arduous competency hearing ...
...bound to be heartbreaking and Perfect Match is no exception. Picoult explains, in an interview in the back of the book, that she thought it was important to portray the full horror of child abuse and the effect it has on Nathaniel and I agree wholeheartedly. It was difficult to read at times, but Picoult is never unnecessarily graphic and treats the topic with the respect and sensitivity it deserves. Apart from her taste for fantastic stories, Picoult's ...

...about. Boring Stuff: Title: Perfect Match Author: Jodi Picoult Price: £7.99 Publisher: Hodder Paperback ISBN: 978-0340897225 Pages: 416 Basic Plot: Once again Jodi Picoult has picked a controversial issue to write a novel on. On this occasion it's sexual abuse and murder. But that's only the outside of the novel. That's what you see if you are only looking at the barest outlines of the plot. Because this story is far more about a mother who ...
...far should a mother go to protect her child? Beyond the law? And the other main issue is the American Justice system, and how it so often works on the side of the offender rather than the victim...particularly in cases involving child abuse... Anyhow, Nathaniel Frost - Nina Frost's 5 year old son - suddenly stops talking. As in stops talking point blank. Nothing can convince him to let a word slide through his lips...so Nina - a high flying court ...

Another superb book by Jodi Picoult

Advantages: a page turner, thought provoking
Disadvantages: unputdownable, is it that time already!

The Perfect Match This is another great read by Jodi Picoult. After reading many of her books I purchased this one although knowing that the subject matter would make for difficult reading - after all - how many of us really and truely want to go out and read about child abuse. Yep, this fiction is centred around child abuse. However, as always Picoult manages to combine difficult subjects into her fiction leaving many thought provoking thoughts ...
...cover, amazingly fast! I don't want to ruin the story line for those yet to read this book, but as always certain details are on the back cover of the book so I'm not giving away too much if I stick largely to that detail! Nina Frost is an assistant district attorney, and a mum to 5-year old Nathaniel. Her job routinely involves prosecuting cases that tear families apart. She discovers her son has been sexually abused and now it is her own family ...

Quick review of Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult

I have just finished reading this book, and I cannot praise it enough. Edge of the seat detail with twists and turns from the word go is what you can expect if you choose to read this story. I'm a firm fan of Jodi Picoults work however this has to be her best novel yet. She delicately handles difficult topics throughout the story in a sensitive, informative manner and the story has you griped from the word go. I challenge anyone not to enjoy this book and if your like me, you won't put it down till you've read it all! ...

Review of Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult

If you are a parent- -you must read it

Advantages: well written book, keeps the reader inetersted throughout
Disadvantages: a relatively happy ending, which doesn't happen in real life

The book brings to life every single parent's nightmare: the possibility of your child being sexually abused. And if the child is of under-school age and cant yet comprehend it all, it makes it so much difficult to punish the pervert that did this. The book brings you, in turns, the on-going events and thoughts from the point of view of every character, though they dont overlapse. Nina is the mother of the sexually abused boy, while at the same ...
...children. She has seen it all, and knows too well how difficult it is to persecute a pedofile when the only witness is a confused child. However, when tragedy hit too close to home, she knows she cant put her little boy through what she puts other children in the same situation on a daily basis. Suddenly, she is no longer an assistant DA, she is the Mom of a terrified boy, and she must act like one, no matter what, even if that means she might be ...

Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult

Advantages: Well written, good story, easy read
Disadvantages: None

From the first moment i started to read this book, I couldn't put it down. Jodi Picoult has a way of gripping readers so much so that I found it difficult to remember that it is fiction and not a true story. Following on from her usual theme of love and relationships, the book tells a story of what happens to everyday people when there life is turned upside down. Assistant district attorney Nina Frost is used to dealing with absused children and ...
...to her, its a totally different story. Its not until five year old Nathanial stops speaking does Nina realise there is a problem. But through the use of sign language, the child is able to identify his abuser, a priest. Suddenly Nina is not an Assistant DA but a mother to a terrified child, and having put plenty of children through the trauma of the court - she cant put her child through that, so aims to take the law into her own hands and shoots ...
