Advantages Advantages small, super machine to combat traffics

    Disadvantages Disadvantages scary, annoying

Perodua really gave me a shock when i came to know that it was also in sale in UK. I'd really never expected this car to actually being quite successful in establishing it's market so far away from home.(Malaysia). Basically, i do not like this car. Well, i'll just explain the reason to you further below. Name: Perodua Nippa. Nippa actually gives no meaning. The actual local name is called Kancil, which means (Mousedeer) in Malay language. It's obvious that you can see why they call it a mousedeer. Perodua is a short term for Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua, if i'm not mistaken. It means (the second ... more

Advantages Advantages compact, cute, cheap, low insureance, great second car for the family, or 1st car for new drivers!

Disadvantages Disadvantages tinny, feels cheap, image is crap, colours are tacky, dealers spread far and wide!

This is .....or should i say was the cheapest car on the road at the end of the 90's and up to 2002. It ceased production in 2002, and was replaced by a new perodua model. GX FORM and SPEC! All nippas are 5 door, 3door models are not an option, this is good consodering it was cheapest new car on road at little over £5500!! There is only 2 specs in the nippas range EX and GX GX is bout £800 more, but hell you get a lot more, the GX boasts, Sunroof, Radio casttee, alarm, metalic paint, plush wheel trims, as the Ex is as basic as well basic! But Gx is probably just as well equiped as its rivels ... more

    Advantages Advantages price, size

    Disadvantages Disadvantages depreciation, no credibility

The tiny and tinny Nippa managed to remain unknown to most British motorists despite outselling the much acclaimed Alfa Romeo 166 in 1998. The Nippas body shell is a re-incarnation of the old Daihatsu Mira - and this is no bad thing considering that Daihatsu are masters of the city car in Japan. The Nippa has a basic specifacation though stereos, sunroofs and central locking can be addded by the dealer. This car shows its age withn a haphazard arrangement for interior switchgear - for example the heater controls are nearer the passenger than the driver. In essence this car is the cheapest new ... more

Advantages Advantages Very cheap to buy and run

Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks and feels cut-price

Value You're buying basic here - five doors and four wheels; EX does have a folding rear seat and a clock, and GX boasts rear wash/wipe; two-year/24,000 mile warranty isn't too stingy, though. Costs Cheap, cheap, cheap... Over 50 mpg in normal use, low service costs, reasonable resale value - only other ultra-cheapies like Cuore, cinquecento and Suzuki Alto can come close. Reliability Based on the reliable old Daihatsu Mira, so components are well proven; Malaysian build quality looks OK, too. Driving Initially entertaining when buzzing around town but the novelty soon wears off - there's lots ... more

Advantages Advantages price, parking, fuel consumption, very obedient always tries hard to accommodate your wishes

Disadvantages Disadvantages gear stick sheath on mine refuses to remain anchored

I bought my 97 nippa in May with 28000 on the clock and we have now passed 34000 without problem (touch wood) .She doesnt accellerate too well so overtaking has to be kept to a minimum but she happily cruises and has an enviable ability to saunter along at 30 / 40 when the roadsides are littered with those strange yellow aliens on poles, I cannot comment too deeply on mechanical aspects due to my total ignorance of the subject but she does as she is told and never takes sick leave so she gets my vote. Just to keep things in perspective here is her cargo for our regular camping trips 1, 4 man ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, Economical and Easy to park.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very comfortable.

A Perodua Nippa is definately a city car, ideal for small parking spaces and very good on petrol, but when you talk about performance it remains at the bottom of the list. The car itself is very cheap under £5000 but has hardly any comforts of most cars these days. You would have an awful task of trying to fit your shopping in the boot let alone your holiday baggage. The comfort side, it doesn't really have any, the seats are not too comfortable to sit in, the leg space is non-existant. The speed of these cars again proves that it is designed for the city, the only time you would be able to go ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap to run

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much power when you need it

Whilst Proton have certainly established a Malaysian beachhead in this country, Perodua aimed to make an assault on the British market with the Nippa citycar. Carrying the title of Britains cheapest new car, the Nippa certainly made a few friends with its aggressive pricing and tried and tested Daihatsu technology. If it represented great value when new, does the Perodua make an even better used buy? With its cheap sticker price to a certain extent nullified, does the Nippa have anything else to fall back on? Find out here. Peroduas shape is generic citycar, it wont have people tittering when ... more

Advantages Advantages Suitable for town use

Disadvantages Disadvantages not meant for long distances

This is use to be my brother's car which I frequently borrow until he sold it last month. Few of my freinds own it too. The car is easy to be manouver around town- better in automatic transmission . it's kind of economical in petrol usage too. but you can't expected power for this price of car. the ride is quite bumpy- not really comfortable especially for long journey. This is only suitable for 4 adult- but it is still cramped at the back seat. boot area is enough for small luggage and goods. the handling isn't really convincing during cornering. anyway if you want something that is ... more

OH MY GOD DO NOT GO NEAR THIS CAR. I AM THE SOUTHS RESIDENT EXPERT AND THIS CAR IS JUST DISGRACEFUL. THE NUMBER OF CARS THAT HAVE BEEN SOLD IS EMBARRASING. YOU WOULD EXPECT THAT THE KIND OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD BY THIS CAR WOULD BE THOSE INTERESTED IN FINDING A BARGAIN, BUT EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE CHEAPEST NEW CAR AVAILABLE IN BRITAIN IT GIVE ITS OWNERS SOME MUCH GRIEF ANYTHING WOULD BE BETTER. CONSIDERING THE HASSLE IT GIVES IT WOULD BE EASIER TO GO TO THE CONTINENT AND GET A FIAT BRAVA RATHER THAN HAVE THIS TRULY DIRE CAR.
