Climb on and live the dream

Advantages: Deliciously northern sub humour
Disadvantages: Possibly not to everyones taste

Peter Kay is currently the best British comedian. No doubt about it - already under his belt is a series of 'That Peter Kay Thing' two series of 'Phoenix Nights' 'Live at the Top of the Tower' and the nationwide sellout 'Mum Wants a Bungalow' tour. Currently under production is 'Road to Nowhere' - a spin off of Phoenix Nights, which is widely regarded as his best TV work so far, and a modern classic. Set in a Bolton Working Mens Club (or Social ...
...from an episode of That Peter Kay Thing. So far, Channel 4 have broadcast 2 series of the show, the strength of which comes from the characters. Brian loves the power he has as Licensee and believes himself to be world wise and a bit of an entrepeneur. Jerry St Clair - Club compere. Hindered ...

The Phoenix is Rising!

Advantages: Absolutely Hilarious
Disadvantages: There are only 2 Series

...and conversation about the hilarious Peter Kay in general has caused some annoyance amongst my friends I still love it! There are two series of Phoenix Nights and they follow the comical antics of the manipulative Brian Potter (Peter Kay) who is the owner of the Phoenix Club and the gullible, overdramatic but loveable Jerry 'The Saint' St.Clair (the hilarious Dave Spikey). As Brian and Jerry try to rebuild the club with the notion that "Clubland ...
...Max and Paddy played by Peter kay (Max) and Patrick McGuiness (Paddy). They are truly brilliant at portraying the bouncers in both the first and second series with the "Can you hear me now?" sketch and the ongoing "Baldy! Baldy bouncer!" joke. The other characters include Ray Von (Neil Fitzmaurice) the resident DJ who is believed to be a murderer; the constant liar Kenny Senior (Archie Kelly); the incompotent, tiger faced Young Kenny (Justin Moorhouse); ...

Review of Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights

This Phoenix did rise from the ashes

Advantages: Peter Kay's in it-he's really funny
Disadvantages: It's finished now :(, It was on at a bad time

...owner Brian Potter, played by Peter Kay. This was 1st part of another series called the Peter Kay experience, but the characters and theme must have been popular so he made an entire series about it. During the series Brian had an rival who owned a similar but perhaps superior club. The rivalry ended the 1st series as he burnt down the phoenix club, which put him out of business as he had no insurance and he had lost his licsence. He turned to his ...
...shame both this and the Peter Kay Experience have both finished. The last thing he was in was Linda Green and the John Smith's adverts, which were both funny, only because he was in it. He's funny because he says things how they are, he doesn't hold back. Poor Terry in Phoenix Night's was conned into helping him out in the 2nd series, because it was clear who was in charge, even though he owned the place. I would like to see it again, even though ...

Suttle comedy at its best

Advantages: Tons of extras, great comedy
Disadvantages: The second series is way funnier

Shows are trying to compete with this orginal comedy for example the office. Although nothing compares to this, one of the funniest most amazing comedy series to be broadcast ever. I have purchased the box set at 10.99, from HMV online. Extras for series one & series two, totally ace. Suitable for over 15 years, this compelling comedy includes a classic first series:- It is really to introduce you to all the characters although this makes the ...
...(Peter Key) try to make a run down club something it really isn't. Not to putaside a racist folk band in his family club... a drunken horse, uncut and unseen footage, so if you saw it on the box you stillget to catch up on the deleted scences. The second series really gets you into the series. Its so funny, imagine a family fun day, with an inflatable penis bouncy castle, mixed with the ex singers from the club singing for adverts in asda. The ...
