5 Stars COVER the TIN, or food's in the BIN..! Review with images 20/03/2012

I have owned several plastic 'can cover' products over the years, as I have owned cats since a young age. Can covers are basically a product designed to keep your pet food fresh once the tin has been opened. You can simply pop a can cover on top of the opened tin which provides a tight seal until the rest of the food is required at a later time. When my previous can cover was destroyed due to it being melted by accident (don't ask..!) I had to make a new purchase. I was shopping in a local branch of 'Pets At Home' pet superstore and saw the ideal product - the "3 Pack Tin Covers" seemed to be ... more

When my Chocolate Labrador Josh was a puppy he would start the day with half a tin of meat or a Weetabix whatever took his fancy really! Pets at Home Tin Covers: ‘The Pets at Home Tin Covers will keep your dogs tinned food fresh and tasty.’ My Findings: When just using half a tin I had the remaining half left over, I used to over with a plastic food bag and put in the fridge for the following morning. Doing this I found the smell from dog food would still leak and linger in my fridge. Be being vegetarian this wasn’t a nice experience at all and the smell of dog meat was really off putting. So ... more

With having 4 hamsters of my own and also sharing my best mates poodle (who is currently snooozing away on my pillow at the moment!) both myself and my friend love to go shopping for all things pet related in Pets At Home and have to admit to spending rather alot on our beloved animals. Because Daisy Beau stays at my flat so often (shes been here the past 3 days and nights lol) I of course have to feed her. Now mostly Daisy eats dried food but from time to time I treat her to cnas of stuff for a change, which can be very hit and miss but because shes a small dog she never eats very much and I ... more

I always buy sachet cat food for my 3 girls, its a bit more expensive than tins but sachets are so convenient and the cats seem to prefer them. Two weeks ago though my husband Mark walked in from work carrying 20 tins of whiskas! Apparently one of his colleagues had got a new cat and before hand had stocked up on cat food which unfortunately the cat refused to eat, and anyone with a cat will tell you they can be fussy little creatures and no amount of tempting would make this cat eat the food so knowing we have cats she asked mark if they would use it. As I mentioned my girls usually have ... more

I've got four dogs and they go through two cans of dog food a day between them. I usually feed them a whole can at once between them but I occassionally give them more biscuits than meat and therefor have half a tin of dog food left until I next feed them. Anyone who has a dog and feeds their dog tinned meat will know that the stuff absolutely reaks, the smell lingers and it also obviously attracts the dogs meaning they will spend a while hanging around in the kitchen and attempting to jump onto the work surface because they know there's a can of opened meat. For a while I tried to solve this ... more

When I had two cats, I used to give them a tin of cat food between then, unfortunately, I only have one cat now and while I didn’t want to move to pouches, I was concerned about the smell of leaving a half opened tin of Whiskas or the food drying out. I used to use foil to cover the tin up but found this a bit of a nightmare in the mornings (as I always never seem to have enough time) so 9 times out of 10, I would either end up giving Brno too much to eat or throwing half a tin of food away. A friend recommended these to me so I thought I would give then a try. *The Product:* These are just a ... more

I didn't even know that these tin covers existed until I read some of the reviews here - and then I popped out and bought some because I thought they were such a good idea. The idea is simple and that is just to cover the can of dog or cat food in order to keep it fresh and to stop the fridge smelling from dog or cat food! The Pets At Home Tin Covers come in packs of three and cost £1.09 from Pets At Home - which equates to 36p for each tin cover, which seems like a really good price to me. The covers came in a variety of sizes and colours - and I chose the pink, large size, can covers. Each ... more

Our cat Whizz is getting really fussy in her old age. She used to really like the wet cat food that you could buy in the single serve pouches which was great because this was really convenient. All you had to do was empty the pouch out into her bowl and it was enough for one serving. Recently however, she will not touch the stuff so we had to look for some new wet food. She now likes the stuff you can buy in a big tin which is fine as its actually a bit cheaper but she can't eat it all in one sitting so we needed something or some way to be able to store the excess food until she ate again. ... more

Owning a cat and some fish means that we visit Pets At Home quite often. Whether we are stocking up on water conditioner, cat food, fish food or something else we always see items that we want when browsing the aisles in our local Pets At Home store. These tin covers were an impulse purchase as we already own two or three tin covers but felt that having some more would be beneficial as we could have two or three cans open and covered up at any time giving out cat lots of variety at meal times. When we first got our cat we used to just feed her the little 100g kitten pouches. She still has ... more
