Can we look at all the animals.....please mummy

Advantages: Everything for your pet under one roof
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if you don't buy in bulk.

...a lot of time in Pets at Home. Some aspects of the shop have impressed me, while others have upset me a little, perhaps I should go into a little more detail…. ---The Shop Itself--- Pets At Home is a supermarket for pets, with (almost) everything you need to keep your pets housed, well-fed and entertained. Along with pet supplies they sell a number small animals, birds and fish. The store prides itself on being pet-friendly and pooches are welcome ...
...I'm looking for. One thing Pets At Home does seem to lack is the "pet shop smell", I love the smell of the smaller independent pet shop and the aroma in Pets at Home just doesn't match up. There seem to be just about the right number of staff working in the store and I can't say I've ever had any difficulty finding some to help me make my decisions. The staff are also friendly and seem to have a reasonable amount of knowledge about the goods they ...

Pets are Family - assuming they don't all die...

Advantages: Excellent selection of products, superb range of food, toys and general accessories, most staff seem to know what they're talking about
Disadvantages: Fish selection is in poor condition generally. Not willing to take any responsibility for this.

...I used to absolutely love Pets at Home. Having been an animal lover all my life I was delighted when Pets at Home first landed here in the UK back in 1991 (after the demise of the PetsMart stores throughout the country). The store practically has everything any pet owner could ever need. They stock all necessary (and luxury) items for out canine, feline, feathered, furry and fishy friends. Many stores also used to stock items for our reptilian friends ...
...what you want in a Pets at Home store. Many prices are competitive and some deals you can get are very good indeed, especially some of their "all in one" type packages (otherwise widely referred to as "Starter Kits" where you get the cage/tank/etc. with everything you need to start up with a certain animal). This is the good side to Pets at Home. However, with all good things come some bad points.... First however, let me just explain why I've ...

Pampering Supermarket for pets that we love

Advantages: Everything for your Pets needs
Disadvantages: none

...regular monthly visit to our pets at home superstore to buy all the pets there monthly food, accessories, grooming, medication and treats. The store itself that I go to visit is in Newport. It is located in Maesglas Retail Park, and has great parking facilities for you to park the car close to the store for convenience, especially when you are buying in bulk as we do. I must give this store its own immediate credit, as it is always clean and well ...
...does have everything for you pets needs or you just want to pamper them a bit. My Opinion:- ~~~~~~~~~~~ I find it that this store is fantastic as it has everything I need, especially with all the pets we have. Today alone, we had to sort them all out and spent over £40 on them, but if I had gone to a shop on the High Street this would have cost me well in excess of £55, which is a fantastic saving. My pets:~ ~~~~~~~~ Currently we have a large ...

Pudsey the Collie and James the Cat go shopping!

Advantages: Pet friendly Store
Disadvantages: Just a tad more than the supermarket

...you about our favourite store Pets at home. Pudsey will take you through the layout and the dog section and I will take you through the cat sections and we will fight for the rest, woof woof, miaow.... The Store and its layout ------------------------ In general these stores are normally just placed outside of town and on the main you have to drive there. This can be a bit time consuming if you have only one pet to buy for but mum has to buy for ...
...I am intrigued by the pets corner they have which is actually not in a corner but more like in the middle of the store. There are white fluffy things called rabbits and hamsters and guinea pigs all housed here. Mum lets me go and have a sniff but when I put me paws up on the fence that surrounds their home, she draws the line at that and pulls me back. All I wanted to do with them is make friends, oh well back to my ball. Again by asking staff you ...

Its OK for the basics but not much else

Advantages: Good for stocking basics
Disadvantages: i do't trust the health of the livestock

...to go was the local Pets at Home. And seeing as I don’t have a car this was the easiest option. I’d done my research before and knew more or less exactly what I wanted, a small, tank, filter, gravel etc and when I walked in I have to say I was quite impressed with the number of different products they had available, which only meant that I spent a good 20 minutes trying to decide what colour gravel to have. And of course they don’t just stock fish ...
...basics (and treats) for cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits and so on and so forth. Not only that but many of the smaller animals (hamsters, rabbits and fish) can actually be purchased from the store. I had been to this store on a couple of occasions prior to deciding to get my tank, but to be honest I hadn’t really paid it much attention. I’d gone with my friend who wanted some fish and had just spent my time looking at all the different species they ...

Visit even if you have no pets!

Advantages: many branches; all that you could want for a wide variety of pets
Disadvantages: not cheap

Pets at Home. I do love this store-Everything that you need from buying a pet, to making sure that you have all that you need to care for it. There are branches all over the country, and it's a very professional set-up, in my opinion. I still like the old family run pet shops that SMELL like pet shops, but these are ultra clean and large and roomy-plenty of space to wander round in. The stores are pet friendly and you can take your dog (or other ...
...pet can have one. The pets don't disagree! Also, on the till, you can contribute to charities, either in the form of raffle tickets, or you can buy little badges from animal/bird charities. These are really lovely little badges and the latest one I bought was a little owl- previously I'd bought a kingfisher, a blue tit and a woodpecker! There are machines (someone reminded me) in the stores that allow you to get a name tag made for your pet. Very ...

Time For Some Heavy Petting

Advantages: Good store, well lit, well stocked
Disadvantages: Some customer service issues

...the other opinions posted about Pets at Home, I can see that people are very satisfied with the store in general and therefore I am hopeful that the incidents I have experienced of poor customer service are just isolated cases. I can see for myself that Pets at Home cares for the animals on sale in its store very well, which is why it is unfortunate that I have to bring up a few faux pas (or possibly fur paws…sorry, I know that was totally unnecessary ...
...local branch of Tesco’s for pets – brightly lit with wide aisles and shelves of products for animals of all shapes and sizes. Both stores I have visited (Lincoln, Tritton Road and Rotherham Parkgate) have been clean and inviting and well stocked. Store opening hours are extensive (usually branches are open until 8pm weeknights which makes them very accessible) As well as selling food and accessories for pets, the stores also stock an extensive range ...

DEFINITELY NOT 'AUF WEIDERSEHN PET' - OR IS IT?

Advantages: choice and something to suit everyone, everything under one roof, superb staff
Disadvantages: possibly could buy some things cheaper, irresponsible dog owners

...There are small domestic pets in cages include rabbits, guinea pigs etc, birds of every type imaginable including a noisy cage biting parrot in the middle of the store, and fish, cold water and tropical, I was glad to note there were no puppies or kittens on sale. What did amaze me about the store is how clean it was, there was no smell often associated with these types of pets. And to add to that, there were pigeons flying around the roof of the ...
...is also a vets and pets grooming parlour on site, although at the time of my visit, around 6.30pm, both were shut. OPENING HOURS Normal opening hours for the store are 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 11 till 5 on Sundays, so really, hours to suit most people, although for anyone knowing this shop and Swansea would probably agree that visiting this area of the city at weekends is not recommended for the faint hearted, as it ...

Addition to the family But!!!!

Advantages: Wide Selection
Disadvantages: Staff not all quite qualified

...personal experience with our local pets at home store was unfortunately distressing, so I write this review in hope it will make people more aware, so they do not have a similar experience. On the 19th of July my daughter and I were excited to finally be choosing a pet to welcome to our family as my little girl was to turn 6 on the 20th I believed she was at the right age to start to learn how to take care of her pet . Ever since she could talk ...
...we went t our local pets at home store as I believed it to ha a good reputation. When arriving at the store my daughter spotted a lovely white rabbit with brown spot and she asked if she could have her after speaking to the gentleman member of staff close by we learned the rabbit was male and though she thought him cute she had her heart set on girl so, we were given a little light and dark brown rabbit with giant feet and great floppy ears to hold, ...

Aquatic Centre > 7 Months Of Hell

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Everything

Pets At Home Tropical Fish Review Store: Gateshead (Metro Centre) I have had an ongoing problem with pets at home, since i bought my aquart 60l aquarium with all the equipment and supplies (great i thought to myself). Got home set it all up by the book, waiting 2 weeks and took a sample to the store, they gave me the all clear to add fish, they became ill with white spot within a week, they changed the fish which to be fair, was kind of them and ...
...over 30 fish all from pets at home, none bought survived over a month or survived 1 week before showing disease symptoms. I rang up furious and demanded to be put through to the manager which they did do, he explained how since the tank is a bundle package, i would have to contact the supplier, i couldn't believe this and refused to accept that their guarantee of 6 months after purchase seemed non-existent to the store's manager...... In the end ...

Everything for every pet...

Advantages: Find anything you are looking for, whatever the pet
Disadvantages: The smell - but it's like that in every other pet shop

...else I thought the Taunton Pets at Home shop would be the subject of my review today. As you may know from my profile, I am "mother" to a little rabbit called Lily. I bought her at a local pet shop a year and a half ago. It wasn't premedited... I had given my goldfish to my stepdaughter (who unfortunately found a way to kill them), and as I can't have children, and in spite of being a bit broody sometimes, I strongly felt that I had to find a pet ...
...A few weeks later, a Pets at Home shop opened in my town. I thought I would go and have a look, because they didn't have much choice at the local pet shop, and the ad I saw in the gazette mentioned that they had stuff for every type of pet... So we thought we would go there at the weekend... Just as we parked, I felt a rush of excitement... they had at least 5 bunny huts displayed outside the entrance... they were bound to have bunny stuff !!!! ...

Fluff City

Advantages: friendly, staff know what they are talking about
Disadvantages: I can't get a rabbit

...not much a choice in pets at home. I think there is a good choice here for cats. I love the machines where you can print out a metal tag for your pet's collar. There are always good offers on cat and dog foods here and I think it's great. They have every single name and for adults or younger animals. It isn't the usual type of pet shop that has only cat and dog items and makes the smaller animals feel non existent. There are toys cages for pets, ...
...There are books on all pets to buy here and sometime in pets at home you can even find leaflets on pets which give facts but don't go into as much detail as a book would. Cat litter and dog biscuits can be bought at good prices, big bags are usually expensive but there is more of a choice in a pet shop than in a supermarket. One thing I haven't mentioned which I love is going to visit the animals themselves. They sell pets here apart from dogs and ...

My Pet Was At Home At Pets At Home

Advantages: Range of products. Special Offers. Local stores. Pet friendly.
Disadvantages: Too much choice!

...decided to pay our local Pets At Home store in Cannock a visit. We knew that the store was 'Pet Friendly' so we decided to take our Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bruiser along too. The idea of taking your pet in with you really appealed to me but I suppose thats just because I like showing everyone how lovely my dog is! Before I go on to describe the wealth of products that this retail outlet stock, I would like to praise their thoughtfulness when ...
...need for planning and thinking hard before you commit yourself to a pet. Pet owners know what a major responsibility having a pet is but those considering an animal will find plenty of advice within this store. They supply free leaflets on having a puppy, kitten, rabbit and even goldfish. These leaflets outline all the major aspects of pet ownership in an easy to read format. You can purchase starter kits for when you decide to have your first goldfish, ...

pets for your home

Advantages: grea store
Disadvantages: none

Pets at home is a great store that has everything that your pets need. From fish food to hamster muesli, dog treats and dog accessories. We have one just up the road from my house at the big Sainsbury's complex. And its always jam packed with lots of great stuff for my pets. Their prices are also very reasonable, which is great if you have kids, who have pets. If they want to buy their pets something and pay for it from their pocket money it doesn't ...
...Pets at home has it or not, but the one at the complex has an adoption section. Which is a really great idea. If someone has purchased a pet but can no longer provide the care that it requires, then pets at home will take it back for free. They then put them in the adoption centre where anyone can go in and have a look to see if there if the perfect pet for them. If there is a pet that you want to adopt then you pay a donation to pets at home, and ...

Disadvantages: could do with more people at their tills

...your pet but if your pets are not feeling 100% you will find a Vet on duty and you can take your pet here. The atmosphere in the waiting room here seems more relaxed and the prices for treatment tend to be cheaper than the local vets. Even if your animal is well it is worth a visit to pick up one of their many leaflets on looking after and feeding your pet. We are lucky to have a Pets At Home near our Sainsburys Store, so I go in here for cat and ...
...on the wall chart for pets needing homes. There is a very good selection of toys in this shop. The shop is very well set out with headed sections with everything easy to find. One of the downsides of this shop is that everytime we have been in there has been a queue and only one till in use until there is about a dozen waiting and then they will open another. This may be just a coincidence though or just in our local area shop! There is also ...
