~~**~~ Peugeot 206 S 1.1. 3DR~~**~~ First of all let me explain something - I've not got a clue about cars and the lingo that is unfortunately synonymous with them, however, I do feel I'm qualified enough to talk about comfort, driveabilityness and whether the free mats were worth arguing for. In the beginning I had a mini (a real mini) that was my pride and joy. A hand-me-down from granny who unfortunately decided to purchase it unbelievably in diarrhoea colour hence it was known as the Poomobile and the whole of the county recognised her - it was great. Regrettably, her floor fell through ... more

Advantages Advantages endless list of gadgets, responsive steering

Disadvantages Disadvantages badly distributed storage compartments

My 206 1.1 LX was born in Nov. 2001 to a 51 plate. I bought it on 31/03/2007 as my first car. At the time, it had nearly 38k on the clock. It's the better looking 3 dr version, and over the last 6 months, I have fallen in love with it again. The test drive was the only time I rode in the back, as back then I had a provisional license, and so my Gran test drove it. I am 1.83m (6ft), and from what I vaguely remember, space in the back is cramped (it definitely looks it though, when I have people in the back). It's full of gadgets - elec. windows, elec. wing mirrors, A/C, heater, stereo controls ... more

I bought my peugeot a year ago and havent looked back since. This car has had a bit of bad press recently what with the brake and engine problems some of the cars have experienced but i have found neither of these issues relevant to me. As i only passed my test a year ago i dont have too much driving experience and therefore havent driven many different cars but the first thing i noticed about my peugeot was the ease of the gearbox. The stick almost floats when changing gears and this makes the driving much easier! Its very easy to drive and the power steering help when turing corners and ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, easy to park, nippy engines, hold their value well

Disadvantages Disadvantages None found so far

My 206 is a 1.1 Look on a 2001 Y plate. I bought it in Jan 06 as a runabout to get me to and from work, and it's been a star! It has the cute 3 door good looks, with body coloured door mirrors and handles, and with features such as power steering and air conditioning, what more does a girl need? Seriously, I'm a petrolhead at heart and I think it's great. It only costs £55 for 6 months road tax, and even with the cold weather I'm averaging at least 40mpg so I only use a tank of petrol a month. It's also cheap on insurance, but enough about the money side. The handling is sharp, the brakes ... more

Advantages Advantages Spacious, Comfy seats, Price,Resale value

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel economy, parts/sevice costs

I have shared this car with my mother now for around 13 months, replacing her old ford orion 1.6i ghia (R.I.P!). Our car is an 05 model, which we picked up for 3.5k with just over 16000 miles which was a very good price. First looks I was very pleased as I didn't see the car until my father brought it home. Very good paintwork and stylish "lexus" lights.First time ride in it, I was in the back seat, I was very pleased with the legroom being around 6'0. Also I was impressed by the comfort of the seats and the quality of the sound system. Interior: Very comfy, stylish seats, nothing too tacky at ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of parts available if anything goes wrong or if you need to add anything

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacks power from the rather small 1.1 engine

For me, The Peugeot 206 is the perfect first car. I am an 18 year old male but not what many people would call a "boy racer". Now im going to be slightly biased aiming this at the young, first car market but its such a great little car its suitable for just about anyone. Ive had my 206 verve for over a year now and nothing has gone wrong with it so far, nothing at all. For a first car, it honestly has everything. Firstly, it is usually assumed that with supposed "small cars" there isnt a lot of room especially for passengers in the back seat. I can irradicate these suggestions as im 6"4 and ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks great, Good MPG, An excellent first car

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor headlights, a few minor niggles

I became the proud owner of a 1.1 206 on my 17th birthday in 2001, receiving what I then saw as my dream car. Three and a half years on and my experiences have been mixed, although mostly positive. The performance is surprisingly sporty for a 1.1, it certainly has enough power for getting around town, and even those long motorway drives to university and back. Although the only vehicles I can compare my 206 with are a 206 Diesel Hdi that I learnt to drive in, a Range Rover and several vans, so this opinion may not be held by others! I feel that it is more attractive than most hatchbacks on ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks cute and sexy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost everything else

I have been driving a courtesy car for the last week, while my car has been in the bodyshop following an unfortunate prang up the backside (not my fault I hasten to add). I was somewhat disappointed to find that the garage in question thought that it would be a good idea to swap my 7-seater VW Touran for a 3 door Peugeot 206. Nonetheless, I would have had to wait several more days for them to source a bigger courtesy car, and I admit that I was seduced by the shiny gold metallic paint and sleek, sporty profile. It looked quite nippy so I agreed to take it. How wrong could I be? I would say ... more

    Advantages Advantages Economical, looks good

Disadvantages Disadvantages I have probs with the seats

The Peugeot 206 is one of the most popular cars on the road. I can understand this, they’re nice cars, relatively cheap, and have low insurance. They also have good fuel consumption figures. The co2 emissions for mine are 145, which mean that it’s in the lowest car tax brackets. I have recently bought my 2nd 1.1 206. Overall, I think these cars both look good and are good to drive. My new one is the 1.1 Ltd Edition fever, which I bought for just under £8k, which came with a year's free insurance. It also came with electric windows, front fog lights, power steering & a CD player as ... more

I bought a second hand 3dr S-reg 206 1.1 LX in super racing green 6 months ago. It's my very first car and I am so pleased with it. The 1.1 engine seems remarkably pokey and cruises well on the motorway. I frequently travel to Birmingham from Portsmouth (around 180 miles) which only uses around a third of a tank of petrol (around £15), so is very economical. And of course, road tax is cheaper in cars with smaller engine sizes. So, my little car offers extremely good value for money. The car is exceedingly roomy in the front, not really so in the back, but a lot more spacious than most 3dr cars ... more
