...sales guy at a official Peugeot dealer was very friendly and very helpful. However they didn't have any Sport models for me to test drive so I had to test drive an older but similar specification 206. First moral of the story - YOU MUST BE PATIENT AND TEST DRIVE THE EXACT CAR YOU'RE GOING TO BUY. We recently went on holiday to Cornwall, and rather than face the 12 hour drive from Edinburgh, decided to fly to Exeter, and hire a car. We ended up with a 206 SW 1.4 - which was a little smaller than what we'd originally ordered, but were reasonably happy with it as basic transport. Disadvantages: Gearbox varies from sloppy to notchy, seats, not a motorway car

Driving a 206 could be an unexciting experiment -there's so much on the roads-, but what a car it is ! Launched in '98, it's not one of the most sold cars in Europe for nothing ! I've owned myself a 206 1.4 XT for one year and half: it's a second hand car which belonged to my parents, they bought it new in September 2000. ...front windscreen, excellent service intervals....and Peugeot UK have been excellent..even down to calling me 4 weeks into the purchase to check that the car was running ok ! Perfect little 'town car' or second car, easy to park, excellent front and rear vision. A friend has just bought a new Clio and is wowing about it....I wouldn't swap my 206 for a Clio if you filled the boot with Mars bars as an incentive ! (I might swap it for a Fiat Coupe ... ...I accepted delivery of a Peugeot 206 in metallic Sapphire Blue. I jumped into the car with a chorus of "where's your hairdryer?" and "I'll have a trim" ringing in my ears leaving me with some prior mis-conceptions about the general use of the 206. I am the proud owner of a 206 but as with all cars there are advantages and disadvantages. The car itself is a sporty little number and is very nippy. I have the 1.4 lx, which is very smooth and handles well. The trim is standard and as other opinions go it can be quite cramped but with it being a sporty model one might expect this.
