Advantages Advantages Good looks, good fuel consumption, comfortable to drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stereo provided with the car isn't great

If you're expecting a review contianing a long list of technical specifications and motoring jargon that sounds like it's written by an engineering expert then you're in the wrong place... This is my review on the Peugeot 206 (1.4 GLX model) and as such is hopefully written in a way that will make sense to everyone, from the car expert to the novice. I took the plunge in August 2002 and ordered a brand new GLX... Approximately eight weeks later it arrived, and it was love at first sight... LOOKS *************** The 206 is a fairly small car - slightly larger than a Fiesta, not so big as an ... more

After many happy years with the Renault Megane coupe (see previous op!) it was time to trade in and get something a bit newer. After looking at many, many cars, we finally chose the Peugeot 206 1.4 LX (although Ciao call it a 1.3?) okay, it's a 1360cc engined car. Let's not split hairs eh? We opted for a 2000 W reg automatic 3 door in metallic blue, and picked one up from our local Peugeot dealership for a bargain £6,495, with 26,000 miles on the odometer (wow, what a great word!). True, you can pick them up a little cheaper, but finding an automatic can be difficult at the best of times ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages awkward pedal position

I am writing this opinion having owned a 206 1.4 LX for 6 months. 10 000 miles, 1 bump, and a service later, I feel I am in a position to write a useful and balanced analysis of my car. VALUE ************************** The 1.4 retails at a fair price for what you get. I bought the car when it was almost 2 years old, and felt that the used price was competitive. For £6500, I managed to get the car from a Peugeot Dealership with full service history and 25 000 miles on the clock. This was comparable to the Renault Clio but I felt better value than the VW Polo. COSTS *************************** ... more

For the last week now I have been the proud owner of a 206 LX 1.4 HDi, and I have covered just under 1000 miles on a combination of motorways, country b-roads and town driving with between one and four bodies on board. My car is the new LX specification (which now includes front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights), and I have added a rear spoiler. I can only say that this little car performs admirably, regardless of what you ask of it. The 1.4 common-rail turbodiesel engine has 68BHp and 115lb/ft of torque available at 2000rpm, so when you need to pull away from something ... more

Don't expect technical stuff in this opinion. But, I have had my Peugeot 1.4 LX 206 for just over a year and consider its about time I gave an honest appraisal of the car. THE START I decided to change my car (Fiesta) for a newer model. So off I went to visit Ford, Vauxhall and Peugeot garages. After not a lot of consideration (I was put off by the first two sales people) I ended up at Peugoet. I spied this red car on the forecourt, and fell in love with it! Fab shape, great colour, interior was brill. Okay, I'm only 5ft, could I see all around? The salesperson (good move , it was a woman) ... more

Well how do I start? It's a blue (common one) 1.4 W reg (200) 206. I got this car on 26th September 2007 (my 18th Birthday) which cost £2,600 and it is RUBBISH! I've probably paid more than that fixing it! To start off with it takes forever to get up to speed (which I've put down to it being an OAP of a car) sometimes it takes forever for it to even start. The button to unlock the car is still working but sometimes the car just doesn't want to lock so now i have to check because i've left it unlocked a few times! I've broken down 4 times since mid-December 2009 (all call-outs t the AA and tows ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish looks, stylish interior, nice alloys

Disadvantages Disadvantages Instrument panel a bit too plastic

I was forced into a purchase of another car as I had wrote off my previous one (Peugeot 106). As I had liked my old car I decided to get another Peugeot. Originally, I had wanted a second hand 307 but was lured by the free insurance and looks of the new 206 Sport. I really like the look of the 206 Sport. The interior is very nice also, with the red and black trim. The one damper though, is the istrument panel with the stereo and air conditioning controls. It just looks out of place against the rest of the interior. It's as if they did a great job with the rest of the car and then suddenly they ... more

We recently went on holiday to Cornwall, and rather than face the 12 hour drive from Edinburgh, decided to fly to Exeter, and hire a car. We ended up with a 206 SW 1.4 - which was a little smaller than what we'd originally ordered, but were reasonably happy with it as basic transport. Unlike the photo (I hope to add some of the car I got, shortly) this is a five door model. The car we got had a 1.4 litre fuel injection engine, with power steering and air cnditioning, it wasn't a top priority, but when the temperature climbed to the 30s - that's 90s in old money!, we were more than grateful ... more

-------------------------------------- UPDATE STARTS: I don't know how to say this. Could the love affair have come to an end??. I think the time has come. Shhh... I'll whisper so that my Pug doesn't hear me - I need to brake it gently (oooh sorry, couldn't resist the pug... er, pun...) - but I think it's time to move on. It's not my Pug, it's me. I need space. For shopping and luggage. And maybe a bit less noise and more power and comfort on the motorway. You see my daily commute has changed dramatically, the journey time having more-than-doubled, with a mix of urban and motorway driving ... more

Not only does this car have great looks within its category, it has great peformance too. The nippy 1.4 engine gets you up to speed very smoothly with an easy flow gear box to match. The features are very good, Air Con, 6 track CD player and underseat storage, great for security. The seats are confortable and takes four adults easily. This car is suitable for a trip to town like we did a 700 mile round trip to Scotland. We got about 45MPG too. There are some great deals around so shop around and don't take the first price. Wasn't originally keen on Peugeot before, but I am converted. ... more
