Oh yes its the great pretender

Advantages: Diesels go on forever
Disadvantages: Its a Diesel

...Im not sure that peugeot should even have tried to bring out a car under the 20# genre after their exceedingly popular 205 model but, they did anyway and also brought their successful diesel along with it! The Americans have a recipe for producing a car with decent performance and plenty of mid-range "VROOM". Give it loads of grunt and watch it fly! They work on the principle of 'there is nothing like cubic inches for power' and drop in the biggest ...
...used to excellent effect by Peugeot here in Europe when creating the diesel versions of its small hatchbacks. Back in the '80s, the French company developed a strongly performing 205 by substituting a 1.8 diesel for the existing petrol engine. When they added a turbocharger a few years later, the resulting 205 D Turbo was the closest you could get to a 'diesel 205 GTi'. They used this in the highly successful 306 too. The 206, spiritual successor ...

...the great success of the Peugeot 206 series, the French auto manufacturer launched the 206 HDi in mid 1998,and this diesel powered compact hatchback has already achieved enormous popularity in its home country. In excess of half a million units have been sold in France alone and last year sales in that market totalled some 160,000 units. The 206 HDi has also been exported to UK and to other markets around the world. There is no doubt this model has ...

The 206HDi has a suspension system composed of two triangular Pseudo McPherson strut semi-axles in the front and a cross member with parallel arm-type design at the rear. Anti lock brakes come as standard and is also equipped with 14 inch steel wheels, but, alloys are offered by the French manufacturer as an option. ...

206 D Turbo HDI

Advantages: Loads of mid range grunt, looks fab
Disadvantages: None

I bought my car in March 2003 after waiting 6 weeks for it to be delievered, boy was the wait worth it. I ordered my car with leather interior, air con and sun roof, it looks smart, and it is the thinking man's GTI. So far I've completed 2000 miles in mine. I find the seats very comfortable and secure - they do hold you in when you are taking corners at speed. The main reason why I bought a 206 D Turbo was becasue of the fuel economy - I drive 90 ...
...307 started a drink problem like Oliver Reed. I average about 45MPG when driving to and from work, strangley enough, fuel economey in city driving improves this figure to around 50MPG. The only giveaway that the car is a diesel is when it is idiling - not in terms of sheer noise, but the way the gear lever slightly vibrates, but once moving you REALLY would not know it is powered by diesel. It's got plenty of mid range urge to scare many drivers ...

206 SW 2.0 HDi

Advantages: Fuel Economy, Handling, Good Looks
Disadvantages: Bland Gearbox, Minor Storage Problem

I purchased a secondhand stationwagon (52 plate) from a dealer after weeks of searching. I must say that it's the best car i've ever had. The handling is excellent , you can feel the feedback straight away, and it's not deducted by being the estate version either. The car has remote central locking and an alarm, which isn't standard on all models, so check that yours has. Performance: The 2 litre diesel engine is another boon, lots of low down power ...
...Acceleration from standing is good and when the turbo kicks in it flies along. 0-60 is around 13 seconds and top speed 113 but it's between 35-80 where the car excels. If you thought that diesels were sluggish think again. Diesel rattle is there at standstill but with the car moving, the noise is nothing that you wouldn't get in a petrol engined car of this standard. Fuel economy: This is good as well, averageing @ 48 mpg, which for motorway and ...

Brilliant little car

Advantages: Stylish, comfortable, economic spacious, 2 year/12,000 mile service interval.
Disadvantages: Feels heavy

I'm probably a little biased towards Peugeots because I owned an early 205 that I loved to bits and then a 106 1.4XT that I didn't want to get rid of. I had the 106 for over 11 years and 100,000+ miles and it never let me down. So the time came to search for a replacement car. Fortunately I didn't have to pay for this one - my company was buying it for me. While I was making my mind up I used several pool cars which were my first experience of diesels.- ...
...stuck on the M25 on the hottest day of the year with no air con. made it a requirement that my new car had air. con. The little 1.2 Corsa was well underpowered on the motorway and almost frustrating to drive so I wanted something a littlemore powerful like the Sigma but the Sigma was too big - like driving a bus. I Iike small nippy cars which are easier to park in our congested towns and cities but needed plenty of "boot" space. I spent several months ...

Quick review of Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi

For quite sometime i have been driving people carriers to accomodate the kids, but now drive a 206 2.0 HDi and am thrilled with it. It has style, pace, comfort. The fuel consumption is good. The 2.0L engine makes it nice and nippy. The only thing I can fault is the spacing between the accelerator and the brake. But once you get used to it, its fine. I had the misfortune to accidentally drive down a flight of concrete steps in it recently (DER!!) but it matched the ever famous mini in the 'Italian Job' and we both came out unscathed and none the worse for our experience. So add to its specs 'multi terrain vehicle' LOL. GREAT CAR! ...

Little nippy 206

Advantages: fuel consumption, speed
Disadvantages: indicator lever faulty, brake and acclerator foot pedal too close

We bought this car in the January of 2002, so we have had this car now for 4 and half years now. The inside cabin is very spacious for the size of the car and there is plenty of leg space for the people in the back seats. The speed that it takes off from the traffic lights is very good seeing it a diesel car and the fuel consumption is very low, I am averaging about 46 mpg and this is doing a bit of town driving and dual carriageway driving everyday. ...
...able to pick up medium wave which is good as I listen to Talksport most days unlike my other car the Seat Alhambra which does not receive Talksport very good. The servicing is every 12000 miles and not very expensive and the tyres last well. The indicator lever sometimes cancels when it should not and sometimes keeps on when it should have been cancelled. The brake and acclerator footpedals are very close and sometimes when I want to brake I hit ...

Quick review of Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi

A comfortable small hatch back car. Very economical as a diesel, with the 2L engine giving it plenty of power for whatever situation, however certainly not a racer. Not overly comfortable on long motorway journeys, and not the sturdiest of cars at speed. ...

Superb engine / low quality solutions

Advantages: The engine, sporty and quick feel
Disadvantages: Feels unreliable due to the many low quality solutions

...to sensors though, but rather due to a freak accident where the ventilator was flung of its engine and into the radiator grill. This perfectly illustrates the many low quality solutions in the Peugeot 206 HDI. A bit more quality outside the Bosch super-engine and this Peugeot would be perfect! ...

206 still sporty!

Advantages: Quick, looks good and drives well
Disadvantages: Large dash board

I have owned this car for over a year now, it's not brand new it's a 2003 model, but as it's a sport, alloys, sports seats and a 2 litre it still looks good. The fuel, driven carefully, is very good, I can get average 50 mpg traveling on the motorway to and from work averaging 60mph. It whistled through the MOT last year and I'm confident it will be fine this year, never broken down, no electrical faults, and no major problems. It's stylish and modern ...
