This incredibly popular Peugeot is now starting to show its age, particularly since the arrival of the 206. Dynamically excellent and keenly priced, the 306 is still a very sound buy, but it does need a replacement soon. And a little more interior space. Bought a 306 as my first car. When I was looking, all the guys told me this one or that one. My boyfriend persauded me to get the 306. I'm so glad he did, I wouldn't trade it in. I have recently purchased a 1993 1.4 Dark Green 306, and I am very happy with my purchase. It is my first car, I am male and it only cost me 900GBP to insure it, depite it being a 1.4 and me with no years claims discount. If anyone has a Peugeot 306 1.4 1997-2001or is considering purchasing one in this group I urge them to check the make of coil packs on the engine, if they are bosch get them changed ASAP before they corrupt the ECU on the vehicle. This is a common fault on these 306's as I have found to my costs. Changing the coilpacks before they fail (use bougicord instead of bosch) will cost around £150. I had a dream to buy a 306 before i was 21, and now I have one, has alloys and front electric windows and sunroof, which considering its a P reg (96-97) and its only an XL model (bottom to top XN,XL,XR,XT)then it is a really good car. Also with 42 miles to the gallon same economy as the DT model. I picked up mine for £1500 with a new clutch, head gasket, and cambelt all fitted for me and a full service and years MOT. I bought a 97 306, miami 5dr, 1.4l 2 monthes ago. i was lucky to get the car i did because as the title says, it really can go either way! it's done just over 70k, and like most others this age and mileage has a new clutch. It's a fantastic car to handle, something you can confidently drive fast and comfotably drive slow. Advantages: Brillant 1st car cheap to run and loads of fun

This is my first car and it is such a good car, easy to drive with good handling from its power steering and ABS also comes with an imobliser so the insurance is cheap. I cannot fault this car from its power at top range to the slow driving in cities, if you want to modify it, its so easy as there are loads of stockists, its also an easy car to maintain and care for.
