Advantages: Plenty of space both in the car and the boot Disadvantages: Too cold and windy in the back at high speeds
With my husband fast approaching 40 and having to young children (4 & 6), we decided that it was time to shed some of the mumsy and dadsy image we had aquired with the children, and upgrade our image.
So, we decided to get ourselves a sporty type of car.
Off to the showrooms we went, with the kids in tow. First we tried the Nissan 200 SX, no leg room in the back for children, let alone adults, next we tried the Renault Megan convertible, again ... ...saw the Peugot 306 convertible.
"Nice looking car" I said. So, with car seat we put the children in. It was a fit! Off we went for a test drive. "Put the roof down dad" came the cries from the back. Having driven around in a manual diesel Discovery for the last 6 years, we had forgotton what a pleasure driving could be. We felt very lazy though, as this car was an automatic.
Having decided that we would buy the car, we have enjoyed driving it around. ...

Advantages: fit adults in the back, good boot space Disadvantages: very poor reliability
I had my car in June and as we drove off we heard a rattle so that was its first trip to the garage, something was wrong with the exhaust. I had a month of fun with it, putting the roof up and down with the flick of a switch is a doddle and my three children fit easily into it. However after a month I noticed the inside of the boot had been crushed ... ...it went to the garage, it appeared by the mechanics re-action to be a common fault. I then had a re-call at the same time, something was wrong with the front suspension and a week and a half later it is going back in for another re-call, something else this time to do with the engine. If I could hand the car back and not lose any money I would in a heartbeat. I had a nissan micra before this for twelve years and I never had a moments problem. Yes, ...

Advantages: space, stile, comfort and power...... Disadvantages: peugeots labours costs when you want them too do the work : (
I agree with some others about some of the faults that some people have had with their 306 convertibles and i have had my roadster now for 6 months roughly and yes had some problems even as far as a new ecu...... But thats life, i blame most of my wee faults on previous owners neglecting the car and maybe some garages not doing the work right. But mine is now nearly 10 years old so i expect some upsets as i restore it over time but i love it and ...

Advantages: cheap and reliable Disadvantages: it still looks outdated
...anyone who has had a peugeot will tell you, you can run them into the ground. I have had very little trouble with mine. The handling is good, comfort, space, fuel economy and saftey are all great. However if it is style and real speed you are interested in, then this is not for you. As far as "covertable people" go this is not a car to look "cool" in, with the typical outdate early ninties 90 degree angle feel about the exterior. If you don't fall ...
