An all round good runner, but with flaws

Advantages: Air con, power steering, ABS, Comfortable drive
Disadvantages: Poor reliability, Terrible customer support, poor waranty, tyre wear problem, poor build

...... Terrible customer support at Peugeot - After 4 attempts to fob me off with poor excuses at the dealership for the car cutting out, I was loosing my trust in them. They were rude, and refused to phone me to let me know what was going on when I took my car in. I had to make /every/ phone call. * Their warranty means bugger-all. I'm telling you that now. The only thing that was ever covered by the warranty in the 7 times I've taken my car in, is ...
...out the first time. It wasn't that, because it cut out a further 3 time. So either 1. the pump has died again or 2. the pump never died and it's something else, or 3. the pump died but the didn't replace it. I've had problems with my tyres which also 'wasnt covered'... * Problem with tyres (or something else related) - I am on my fourth set of front tyres and only my second back set (it's a front wheel drive). I've done about 14,000 miles, and although ...

Advantages: Reliable, economical and with creature comforts
Disadvantages: Lack of Storage

I thought of considering a Peugeot following the many years my mother and sister have had trouble free motoring - with the 307 and the 206. So I chose a 205 – an old thing that cost a grand and got me to Wales and lasted over a year. But it wasn’t going to survive the daily slog to work or long trips to the South East. So what next? The 205 had kept me happy, so it seemed logical to stay loyal. And so it was I ended up buying a 306 from a Peugeot ...
...is no longer produced by Peugeot but is the predecessor to the current 307 and can best be described as a small family car. It was available in various engine sizes (1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 1.9 and 2.0 litres) and shapes (estate, cabriolet and hatchback). The Meridian is an edition of the car that added a few luxury touches. MY 306 has a design that is pleasing to the eye (mine anyway) with attractive lines, alloy wheels and a metallic silver finish. THE ...

Better than a slap with a wet fish

Advantages: Good specification, safe, manouvrable and stylish
Disadvantages: Slightly chunky gear box

We did well on the deal for this car - sun roof, electric windows, ABS, twin airbags, stereo, electric mirrors, metalic paint all round, etc. Because it was the last of the V Regs it only had 6 miles on the clock when we got it! Ace! I have driven Peugeots for a long time and I do like 306's. The thing is they are big enough without being too big - and they are not cramped either. I am fussy about seats (a lot of driving gives me an achy back) and ...
...best - no aching bits after a drive to Scotland! The gear box is a bit chunky - but I don't mind that. It handles well, is very good on the old fuel consumption (unleaded) and is responsive in an emergency! I want to try the HDI model one day - I have heard they are even better fuel-wise. But for now I am as happy as a rabbit with an extra large carrot :) ...

How long did you keep yours?

Advantages: Nice little car, perfect for use every now and then!
Disadvantages: Unreliable & Poor Customer Service

We purchased a 306 Meridian a year or two ago just before a trip down to Cornwall for a week. The car was alright but we did experience a few problems with it such as not starting too well on a couple of occasions and being a little slow a times on the motorway, going from Birmingham to Cornwall is a long trip and the car seemed to take a little while to get us there but it did in the end. This review is mainly about the customer service but also ...
...had. There was many features such as CD player, air conditioning and central locking. These were all great and we enjoyed them a lot. One of my favorites was the volume control for the radio being very close to the steering wheel. This means whoever is in control of the car can easily turn the radio up or down or tune into a different station without having to turn his eyes away from the road. When we picked up the car we knew staff had been in ...

It's the best!

Advantages: Economical, small yet roomy.
Disadvantages: No CD player!

...we visited Regal motors the Peugeot garage from where we used to hire cars. The car we purchased was on the forecourt with all the extras we wanted and at a knockdown price because it was V reg even though it only had 9 miles on the clock! We have never regretted it for an instant. It is roomy, comfortable, economical, nippy, and good looking too! All this and it has ABS and twin air bags What a beauty. ...

Peugeot 306 1.6 Meridian

Advantages: Reliable
Disadvantages: As with most cars dealership repairs and servicing are pricey

...Having said that my local peugeot garage is excellent (more than I can say for Vauxhall) and the car has been regularly serviced. By this I mean a full service at least once a year. The only fault it has had ,that has been a niggle, rather than an annoyance, is the pin which prevents the drivers door swinging back has popped out twice. The central locking has recently stopped working on the drivers door, but due to the age of the car I'm not surprised. ...
...still manages over 35 to the gallon (1.6 cc). Unfortunately due to the mileage and general wear and tear of the car will are looking to exchange it soon, but I would cheerfully replace it with another much newer model if they existed. Other reviews have mention the tyres. I haven't experience that problem, but then I buy middle of the price tyres which might have some baring on it. The seats are still in excellent condition as is the exterior paintwork. ...

Great way to spend 6k

Advantages: Sounds Evil, great features and a good interior
Disadvantages: its a peugeout!

I have quite a differant opinion on the 306 meridian and im against the complaint of the peugeout customer service. (When buying a french car be prepared to pay less for parts but wait longer for them to arrive). I bought my 1.8 meridian 3 months ago and i'm not promoting it casue I have one. I honestly believe its a great buy. Providing you purchase the 2001 model, you get all the features of a Ford Focus and a car without a giant backside. I know ...

It has leather seats a futuristic interior and for once a peugeout car atually feels ...

Very disappointing car

Advantages: nice looking, good for short journeys, good features
Disadvantages: very heavy despite power steering, not very reliable, appalling customer service

We bought our 306 in 2001 when it was 3 years old. Initially we were really pleased with it, it was certainly better than our previous car (vauxhall astra). But the service we received from the dealership was appalling. It took them 6 months to give us the spare key they had promised, and that was only after several complaints including 2 emails to head office in france! We have found it quite good over the years and it has served us well, though ...
