Advantages Advantages great looks, fuel economy and performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages had lots of problems especially with the electrics

I had this car from new but did not buy it myself as it was a company car and rented from Peugeot. It was a 52 (October 2002) registration and I had it the full 3 years of the lease and I was the main driver with my partner driving it occasionally. This review is based on the fact that I did 20,000 plus miles a year and quite a bit of motorway driving. The car was: 5 door hatchback 90bhp 1997cc 4 cylinders 8 valves Insurance group 6 Road tax band C Manual transmission I'll start with the good bits about it. ! I loved it's looks and colour - aegean blue. It was roomy and comfortable and the ... more

Having read ALL of the reviews on the 307 HDi listed here, i think it's time to add my own! Where do i start describing what it is to own & drive one of these fantastic motors! I have a 2001 China Blue 307 2.0Hdi GLX (140bhp < more on this below). Purchased @ 72k miles with full peugeot history (no unusual problems & another bonus). all the usual features concerned with the 307, plus cruise control, 5 CD changer, A/C, Full electric pack. I dont believe in extras such as auto lights, wipers as they are just plain lazy and make you a less observant driver, also i believe they weren't available ... more

Advantages Advantages easy driving, fuel economy, quiet engine

    Disadvantages Disadvantages clutch, minor problems

I bought this car (110bhp) in 2003. There seems to be a clutch problem for 307 diesels manufactured this year and perhaps in previous years. My clutch (dual mass flywheel) disintegrated at around 28 000 miles. Peugeot replaced the whole clutch kit under warrantee. Another Peugeot dealer told me that the clutch is guaranteed for 5 years or 100 000 miles. So, if your clutch needs replacing, do not be shy to take it back to Peugeot if it is still under the warrantee. My driver side wing mirror was replaced under warrantee because the heater did not work. The rear left hand side brake light seems ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely interior & responsive engine with good economy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Boot a little small.

I have just test driven the 5 door version of this car (the Rapier model). I want to have a diesel car and I have test driven this car as well as the Citroen Xsara (although the Xsara was 90 bhp as opposed to 110 bhp in the Peugeot.) The Citroen Xsara is currently on offer (along with the Saxo and Picasso) suggesting a new model in the near future as the C3, C5 & C8 have arrived or are imminent for delvery to a showroom near you. The diesel Xsara (90 bhp) was a good ride and comfy - but the Peugeot 307 110bhp was a dream in comparison. The exterior is perfectly adequate - no qualms there. The ... more

Advantages Advantages Safety, frugal, sporty looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can feel heavy, long A pillars, annoying interior noises

I bought an 03 Peugeot 307 S in Aegean Blue for £13,600 brand new, it had the 2.0 HDi 90 engine. What went wrong: On the first day my indicator stalk wouldn't reset to its normal position. I phoned the next day to book it in and then when I went up there on the Wednesday they hadn't even ordered the part, it was sorted the next week. Then after only five days the alternator had to be replaced, which was done overnight, so luckily was only without the car for a day. This car has adequate performance and is very comfortable to drive. Being a diesel it has its sluggish moments but then the turbo ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice and quiet. Smooth. Great gearchange action.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Over sensitive brakes.

I get criticised a lot for not giving specs about the products I review. If you want specs, go read up on the car in one of the many magazines, or even the manufacturers web site. This is about what it is like to actually drive the 307, over an extended period, not about the specs. That said, my first initial reaction when starting the engine was to ask the bloke that delivered it if was really a diesel engine. It is that quiet. Taking it out of the car park, and off down the nice piece of dual carriageway that leads to my first traffic jam, I usually get a good idea of what the urban driving ... more

I have mixed feelings about the 307. I bought a 2 year old 5 door HDi hatch with 30K on the clock from a reputable dealer. We liked the car (and still do) because there is very good space in the back for passengers and the boot is huge. In terms of interior space it's the biggest thing out there (compared to the likes of the Golf, the focus, etc). If you've got a kid and are looking for a hatch, this is great. The dielsel engine delivers great fuel economy and you can almost forget you're driving a diesel. It handles well, it's easy to drive around town and does the job on the motorways. The ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Lots of toys, the SW version I have has a nice sun roof

Disadvantages Disadvantages economy, falling to bits

The 307SW seemed like the perfect rep car combined with weekend kite buggy vehicle. I am a shallow person and the things that attracted me to the 307SW were as follows: loverly big glass roof ( handy as you can watch the clouds whilst waiting for the RAC to tow you back to the dealer) Kick ass stereo ( multichanger in dash which has jammed twice) nice dark interior ( does not show the sand from the beach) GPS sat nav ( again handy as you can tell the RAC where you are when you break down) So you can tell by the tone of this review that the experiance witht he 307sw has not been a happy one ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Mileage, economy & performance

Now don't get me wrong I absolutely love this car, I bought it after having one as a courtesy car for a few weeks. BACKGROUND: I was actually looking to trade my 4 year old 306 in for a C-Class Merc CDi, but then was leant this car by my dealer whilst some work was done on my car. Within 2 weeks I'd done the bargaining and got a cracking deal on the top of the range DTurbo (be sure to go in at the end of their sales quarters in future). PROS: -Sporty look (3dr DTurbo with wide alloy wheels). -This car has a really comfortable seating position (nice quality half-leather finish) and you're ... more

    Advantages Advantages strong, reliable car

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as fast as the 110 version ;-)

I had a little 206 which I loved and drove into the ground, it got to 250,000 miles and it was time for a change, I wanted to stick with Peugeot as they had served me well, I needed a car that would deal with the daily 135 mile round trip to work and back, something that had a bit of kick but not too fast that I would kill myself but fast enough to get me out of trouble should I need it, big enough for a family of 4 and their stuff and cheap enough to run - so I went for the 307 - I bought it 3 years ago and it was 3 years old when I got it - it had done about 35000 miles and was about 7k - it ... more
