Peugeot 307 Rapier 2.0HDi (90bhp)

Advantages: great looks, fuel economy and performance
Disadvantages: had lots of problems especially with the electrics

...unit was replaced. The Peugeot dealer admitted there was a problem and said Peugeot were in dispute with the component manufacturers. Eventually our company fleet manager kicked up and the garage took the car back for a couple of months and gave me a 406 which was wonderful! This was in the first 6 months. Other things that went wrong included: a new alternator a really big and expensive job on the brakes (I can't remember what the problem was ...
...it!) the door locks had to be replaced - for a time the back doors would not open the light on the instrument panel went the glove compartment lock broke and it wouldn't keep shut - the garage told me it happened all the time! also I found the tyres needed replacing at undeer 20,000 - this of course may be down to me but I have never had this problem before in many years of driving different cars Despite all this I still liked the car's performance ...

...@ 72k miles with full peugeot history (no unusual problems & another bonus). all the usual features concerned with the 307, plus cruise control, 5 CD changer, A/C, Full electric pack. I dont believe in extras such as auto lights, wipers as they are just plain lazy and make you a less observant driver, also i believe they weren't available on my model/year. I have even had 2 accidents since owning. a small shunt (10mph) from behind, causing no damage besides a crack around the screw in the numberplate! . The second was a more serious collision, being sided by a large coach ...

...at around 28 000 miles. Peugeot replaced the whole clutch kit under warrantee. Another Peugeot dealer told me that the clutch is guaranteed for 5 years or 100 000 miles. So, if your clutch needs replacing, do not be shy to take it back to Peugeot if it is still under the warrantee. ...to it in that if Peugeot does not find anything wrong, they will charge you for the inspection. The car handles and drives very well. On motorways, it is a dream since changing gears happens less often due to the high torque from the engine. Two years ago when there was heavy snowfalls and ice on the roads, the Traction control and other gizmos (ESP) linked to it assisted me in getting home without killing myself. Really worth the money to have ...

A top family hatchback, fun to drive

Advantages: Safety, frugal, sporty looking
Disadvantages: Can feel heavy, long A pillars, annoying interior noises

I bought an 03 Peugeot 307 S in Aegean Blue for £13,600 brand new, it had the 2.0 HDi 90 engine. What went wrong: On the first day my indicator stalk wouldn't reset to its normal position. I phoned the next day to book it in and then when I went up there on the Wednesday they hadn't even ordered the part, it was sorted the next week. Then after only five days the alternator had to be replaced, which was done overnight, so luckily was only without ...
...has adequate performance and is very comfortable to drive. Being a diesel it has its sluggish moments but then the turbo kicks in at about 1500rpm and it has a nice pull off. Compared to my last car (a 1.2 Corsa) it is quick but not as quick off the mark, this is probably oweing to its much more noticable weight making the car feel heavy to drive. But overall when the car is on the move it is comfortable to drive and a pleasure to be in. It is no ...

Advantages: Nice and quiet. Smooth. Great gearchange action.
Disadvantages: Over sensitive brakes.

I get criticised a lot for not giving specs about the products I review. If you want specs, go read up on the car in one of the many magazines, or even the manufacturers web site. This is about what it is like to actually drive the 307, over an extended period, not about the specs. That said, my first initial reaction when starting the engine was to ask the bloke that delivered it if was _really_ a diesel engine. It is that quiet. Taking it out ...
...of dual carriageway that leads to my first traffic jam, I usually get a good idea of what the urban driving experience is going to hold. Acceleration is smooth, the engine remains quiet, and before you know it, you're off down the road at 70 miles per hour without actually realising it. This is because the 307 is large enough that the sensation of speed is much reduced. I felt almost as high off the road as I had done in the Zafira, but not as ...

...of watchdog will know that Peugeot are on every couple of months. Most recently it has been the 206 (engine cutting out) but the 406 and the 307 are regular guests. The fault on the 307 is something to do with the ignition not disengaging the starter motor. The motor keeps on going. The thing is, you don't know this - you can't hear it. The first time this problem manifested itself was 4 months after we bought the car; the engine cut out whilst ...
...fault and after 6 months, Peugeot agreed to pay the insurers and so our no-claims is protected but we were without a car for months whilst waiting for a resolution and Peugeot customer services never once apologised or said that this had happened before. As it is we are about £1500 out of pocket since that is the depreciation that the insurers have calculated for 7 months on a 2 yr old car! In summary, it's a great car and statistically you are ...

...I wanted to stick with Peugeot as they had served me well, I needed a car that would deal with the daily 135 mile round trip to work and back, something that had a bit of kick but not too fast that I would kill myself but fast enough to get me out of trouble should I need it, big enough for a family of 4 and their stuff and cheap enough to run - so I went for the 307 - I bought it 3 years ago and it was 3 years old when I got it - it had done about ...

Luv the car, not too sure about customer loyalty

Advantages: Comfortable, fun to drive, cheap & reliable
Disadvantages: Mileage, economy & performance

Now don't get me wrong I absolutely love this car, I bought it after having one as a courtesy car for a few weeks. BACKGROUND: I was actually looking to trade my 4 year old 306 in for a C-Class Merc CDi, but then was leant this car by my dealer whilst some work was done on my car. Within 2 weeks I'd done the bargaining and got a cracking deal on the top of the range DTurbo (be sure to go in at the end of their sales quarters in future). PROS: ...

Flywheel woes with Peugeot 307 HDI

Advantages: Roomy
Disadvantages: Expensive when goes wrong

...I have an '02 plate Peugeot 307 110 HDI with 48,000 miles on the clock. We are the second owners of the vehicle which has always been serviced at the main dealers. I took my car in last week as it was squeaking and guess what? - Thats right the flywheel is on its way out. The cost of a repair will be over £1000, OUCH. I emailed Peugeot UK about this and got the following reply from their customer services manager: "May I first of all say how sorry ...

307 1.4 HDI. A Gem

Advantages: Economy, quality and consistency
Disadvantages: Not the quickest

The Blue Pug. Anyone who's read a few of my reviews will notice i can be a tad harsh on cars. Its a character flaw - i buy them, i feed them, i pay to fix them and then when i go to sell them they cost me mnoney all over again - but i do love them! Had this for a while, it was my wifes before being handed down. Its a 2003 1.4 hdi diesel. It costs £35 to tax, does nearly 60 mpg, spritely enough from stop and has a good boot. From front to back ...

Multi adaptable seats and knobs to twiddle with - belter of a stereo (not mp3 alas) - all inetrior trim has that solid french feel (no seriously its very good) Loads of space in the back seats - bigger than a focus, comfy seats with loads of wee pockets and they fold down well. Has a massive boot - only niggle is that the parcel shelf whilst in itself very rigid is attached ...

Peugeot 307 HDI (90) GLX 2002

Advantages: Good Looking, Plenty of space in the front
Disadvantages: Poor quality interior, Poor engine performance

...went to test drive a Peugeot 307 HDI (90) GLX over the last weekend. Having owned a 406 for a couple of years we expected to find the same good quality interior and engine performace as we were used to. However, the interior of the 307, despite being a reasonably high spec model was clearly inferior to that of the 406 and was badly worn even though this car had covered a similar mileage to our own. The engine was equally disapointing and although ...

Pug 307 HDI

Advantages: Fantastic chassis & brakes
Disadvantages: interior trim & electrics

I recieved one of these as a company car & my first impression was that its a really nice looking car. The 2.0HDi diesel engine is quiet & fairly powerful but is slightly held up by the notchy gearchange. The brakes are really strong & as expected, the chassis is really good down a twisty road. The only problems I have experienced with the car (we have 300 in our fleet)are mainly electric & trim based. So far my indicators have failed along with ...

...problems trying to get the Peugeot dealer to do a decent job on the service. I suppose the one good thing that I can say about the car is that once in the car you have a fairly high driving position, so if you like that kind of driving position then it is good but personally I don't think this in any way makes up for all the problems with the car. That for me is enough to put me off ever buying one and I know that my sister will never have one ...
