...buy a secondhand C reg Peugeot 205 diesel which was ideal to get me from Dorset to Bath, where I was at university, and back again. With plenty of room in the back to carry all my gear up to the halls of residence and plenty of room for bringing my dirty washing back home to my parents.

...had a two year old peugeot 106. Obviously our world was changing drastically and so were our transportation needs.
First we needed to identify our future needs. The biggy was economy. She would soon be out of a job and we would have an extra mouth to feed. So we needed 5 doors for easy access for kid and associated paraphernalia, reliability (no repair bills needed thank you!), No gadgets (more to get broken and go wrong} but a decent sized engine ... ...our old cars for a Peugeot 306 XL.
We've had this for three years now. The 1400 cc engine gives a wonderful compromise between power and economy. It has never let us down. A full annual service costs less than £ 100 at a local garage.
There is plenty of room for for five adults. The back seats fold down to give convert this little beauty into a pseudo-estate car. No electric pack means no surprise expensive repair bills when stuff goes wrong.

Advantages: I love the car (despite it breaking down frequently) Disadvantages: The dealerships are AWFUL!
...the big bad world of Peugeot dealerships. I have owned a number of cars of different makes, and currently drive a nice Peugeot 206 (updated - see below). Not sure why I am so attached to it - it breaks down frequently, despite being a new-ish car, and has cost me a lot in repiars. Anyway, I am writing about the AWFUL Peugeot dealerships, not Peugeot cars, which could be a whole separate review. I have tried several of them, each time getting fed ... ...think!) I have written to Peugeot to recall some of my experiences. They replied to say that I am in the minority for feeling like that. But having friends who also have Peugeots, there is a concensus that their service is awful beyone belief. I hate reviews based on single experiences of a company, and I hope that this review shows that I have had a consistently poor deal from these unfriendly cowboys! They really dont deserve your hard earned cash! ...

My first car was a 106 Independence. I originally wanted a 206, with free insurance, but was told at that time I couldn't have the free insurance, due to be being an r driver, so I then decided that a 106 was my best bet. ...read my op on my Peugeot 206 will know that there is no love lost between me and it. But one of my main reasons that I swear I will never own another one is due to my experiences at the dealerships!
I get my car regularly serviced at my local Peugeot dealer in Woking, Surrey. In fact my last service was in January - just routine but I also mentioned that the car was prone to lurching intermittently and would they check it over. The minor service ... ...go down very well with Peugeot as you can imagine!
I spoke to the manager of the dealership, who also wasn't interested at all and told me to speak to their Head Office in Coventry. I have contacted them and they are "looking into it" - whatever that means.
I have now part exchanged my Peugeot for a Ford, as I have had enough of the problems and expense, but the thing that really riled me was the attitude of the staff at my local dealers.

...this year, I brought a Peugeot 306 Xrd from Credit Zone, Hambledon Road, Denmead. Alarm bells should have rang when we got there and someone else was complaining about the service they received. We eventualy settled on the above car which also cost twice as much as we had orignally planned to spend. When I finally collected the car 10 days after I ... ...completed so we had to take back the car the following week. 5 months later I am still having problems with the car, I have tried to arrange for the 'free' servicing we were promised, without success as they cannot provide a courtsey car and do not do them on Saturdays which is rather inconveiniant to anyone who works full-time. I have also just been told that the warranty we purchased for £300 does not cover the current problems with the car. I ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Too many to describe
...reading the awful experience of Peugeot dealerships by a previous contributer I just had to share my own experience of my problems with the Peugeot Dealership of Evans Halshaw on Roseville Road in Leeds. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years initially due to having Company Cars that required service and then latterly with privately owned vehicles. I traded my trustly 406 in for a 407 in May 2007 and that is where all my problems started. This ... ...suffice to say that I had tremendous problems in the first three-six months of ownership ranging from false promises to not even receiving the spec of car I thought I had purchased!! Every time I rang to speak to the person who had previously dealt with me I found that they had 'left the company'. This happened at least FOUR times. I could never get anyone to own my problem. Amazingly (and a cause of deep regret) I took my car to the same garage ...

Like lizzihop I bought a Peugeot from Ian Allen of Woking. My first impression wasn't very favourable as the car was delivered six weeks late and the pre-delivery inspection had failed to notice that there were no tools (so I could not remove a wheel) and the wheel arch linings were missing several fastenings and hanging loose (but not in a good way).
My main problem, though, was with the cruise control. Having an old knee injury, I need cruise ... ...first time I tried the Peugeot c.c. it cut out after 15 minutes, with a flashing warning message. This is both annoying and potentially dangerous, as it results in sudden deceleration on motorways without warning. I reported this to Ian Allen on 20 September but after 12 weeks and six visits to the garage, they still have no idea how to repair the problem. Their initial response (having failed to take the car for a proper test drive) was that they ...

I have now owned 2 Peugeot Cars, a Peugeot 405, and now a Peugeot 306 Sedan SR and can safely say that they are worth every penny.
The Peugeot 306 SR is very similar to to 405 in many ways, mainly with the smooth handling and comfortable ride, but where the Peugeot 306 SR really excells over the older 405 model is in the body styling, the old straight edged design has been smoothed over on the 306 sedan and comes with an adequate 1.8 Litre SRInjection ... ...Peugeot electrics, the front windows and sunroof are electric and it has a rear heated window to enable easy de-misting, the 306 SR comes with an immobiliser keypad, steering protection device and Alarm with remote central locking to keep theives at bay.

I have always bought peugeot cars, i am now on my 3rd.
My forst car was a 106 Mardi Gras, it was second hand and to be fair i had no end of problems with it, but this was probably my own fault because i didnt have anyone check it out before i bought it.
My second was a 106 quicksilver which i bought from new from the dealer, the reason i bought this car is because i absolutely loved them, they looked good and were quite quick for a 20 year old ... ...until it was 3 year old and then things started to go wrong.

I have had my peugeot 308 hdi 90 for two months now,I bought it new on the 1st sept. This is my intrim review for this car.
The 308 is dominated by this big grinning grill and a pair of curvy sexy headlights,to me you can tell its peugeot from its very distinct feline look.I do have to admit on looking at the rear of the car it looks similar to its predecessor the 307 and you do have to look twice to tell them apart. On the inside of the car it does ... ...gone and took it into peugeot to be told its ok.The performance of this car is fine:The engine's performance figures are a 0-62mph time of 10.1 seconds and a top speed of 129mph. i have been a peugeot owner for over 5 years now and have to say how happy i am with the car itself. I own a peugeot 306 xsi, it has a 2 litre 16 valve engine, which is pretty much exactly the same engine as in the renault megane 2.0 16 valve sport cars. recently i purchased a new peugeot 206xsi, after many months pondering over which car i actually wanted. When I bought the car I was told that I would be given free insurance for a year and that the car would be mine in 4-6 weeks. This sounded brilliant and I was very happy with the deal.
