...I decided to buy this Philips DVP3980 DVD player for £49.99 From Currys. What is so special about this DVD player? Well apart from being cheap, this Philips DVD player has an HDMI connection on its back, which enables the DVD player to upscale the resolution to a real 1080p high definition (HD). The TV I bought had 720p, therefore the DVD player up scales to 720p when connected with an HDMI cable. The picture quality is very impressive and rather ... ...weighs 2.5kg).
The philips DVD player does not only have one connection. Like any other DVD player it also have a Scart connection, which enables you to connect it to any other T.V (including standard T.Vs). The scart lead is not included in the box.
The DVD player also has a component cable output (a cable with three colours on the end normally green, red and blue). This allows you to connect the DVD player to your TV if it has a component output.
