Advantages: Heats up quickly and has loads of steam power Disadvantages: Doesn't iron out creases - very disappointing performance
We purchased the Philips GC4639i iron yesterday (27/12/08) and were highly disappointed with its performance. Amongst it's claims were that it made ironing creases out of Cotton and Linen easy and effective. While we have no doubts that it delivered a good amount of steam in both continuous and power modes, and that the iron heated up very quickly, the results were unacceptable on our cotton business shirts. As for the ionic steam.. not really sure ... ...correctly, so we visited the Philips site and every review site possible to find out if our ironing techniques were lacking..but apparently not. After 3 attempt at ironing 2 cotton business shirts that had been hung to dry on coat hangers, the shirts still were not as well pressed as those that I had ironed with our 7 year old Sunbeam Pro-steam 110 (purchase price AUD40)last week and we returned the iron today.
