The Go Gear is Phillips response to the excellent ipod and the Sansa mp3 player. I was bought this mp3 player last year and am still undecided about this one. Firstly though it allows the standard fare of being playing mp3 files and WMA files but it also allows for video playback. It is nice to have this additional feature on the phone but it definitely comes secondary to the music. The screen seems a little but the options are presented in a concise ... ...available to you. The options include playing by artist/all/album. The first thing I noticed when playing music is the sound is surprisingly flat. I adjusted the tone controls and added bass boost to the song. This did provide a more fuller sound but it seemed to do so at the expense of the midrange. Advantages: Easy Charging via USB, good sound quality and value for money. Disadvantages: Headphones are easily breakable.
I think that the Philips GoGear SA1942 4 GB is a very good alternative to other popular MP3 players such as the Apple Ipod. As I have experienced a range of MP3 players I feel that I am able to review this item from a position of experience. Sound Quality: The default sound for this device is excellent. Also there are many options to change the EQ properties of the sound. The user caan choose from a range of EQs provided by the product such as "Rock" ... ...Of Use: The funtionality of it's screen options are simple, easy to understand and to follow. However the button interface is a fraction too small and I can often accidentally press 2 buttons at once or the wrong button entirely. Look and Design: For the money you pay for this device.
