Advantages: Easy to use, Fairly cheap Disadvantages: Kept crashing and freezing. Slow PC software. Broke after a couple of months
...the battery life for this Philips model was extremely poor. It didn't last very long at all before it ran out of battery, and sometimes if you left it on charge over night and then didn't come to using it until a couple of hours later then the battery life would already be drained despite having not used it. This was a really disappointing aspect as you had to charge it for when you wanted it and could not charge it for when you went away etc as ... ...has had problems with this Philips MP3 player and understand it that others have had the problem of it breaking on them. This is a very dodgy MP3 player - I really wouldn't recommend it to others. If you want a decent MP3 player shell out a bit of extra cash and go for something a bit better like an iPod or a Zen - it's worth paying the extra for an MP3 player that's reliable. ...

Advantages: Small, Light, attractive, good size, easy to use, durable. Disadvantages: software
Having wanted an Ipod for so long and not being able to afford one I chanced upon an offer too good to miss. Only £60 with 1.5GB memory and made by Philips, so took a chance and bought from Ebay. On receipt charged up the battery etc then set about dumping my MP3's onto the memory. Unfortunately the software provided crashed everytime I tried it on my Sony laptop so had to resort to using the player through Windows Media Player which is a little ... ...desktop machine though.
Once music was on the player it sounded fine, the earphones could have done with a volume control on them and smaller ear plugs but other than that the sound was perfect. The battery life is excellent, I have run mine for 10 hours plus without recharging. I have also dropped this player several times without smashing the screen or damaging the casement due to the excellent protection of the case.
In summary, at the price ...

Advantages: Small, Light-Weight, Good Looking Disadvantages: Hard to Transfer, buttons problamatic, Software
...there is little about the Philips HDDO60. It may well be able to store 2gb of music, but the time it takes to transfer a song will leave you reeling. For me to transfer one CD containing 1 hours music took 30minutes. This is because for you to be able to transfer the music, you have to save all the music onto your computer before going onto the player, this may not sound bad, which is common practice even on an Ipod, but it is simply the software. ... ...look better and weigh less than an Ipod mini, but the ipod is 10 times better than the philips mp3, and with the price similar, go for the ipod, because it comes with the brilliant itunes, compared to the dismal musicmatch software, not fit for a lego game. I got the HDD060 as a present so can't really comment on the price Looks/durability: (good)
It's a compact little unit that fits easily in your pocket or has a strap so you can wear it round your neck if you want. Some little coloured decals are provided so you can have orange, yellow or blue sides but I think it looks ok as it is. It's fairly hard wearing as I've dropped mine a few times and worn it in the rain and it still works!
Earphones: (good)
... ...range, they also fitted in my ears better than other sets I've had due to the moulded rubber covers. The shape of the covers channels most of the sound directly to your ear drum which makes them seem a lot louder.
Software: (bad)
The software was the big letdown with this player I installed everything as the manual stated but couldn't detect the unit or upload any music, after a bit of searching on the net I found that the Musicmatch Jukebox software ...

In conclusion I would say that the Philips HDD060 is the ideal beginners MP3 player. It is great to use, it looks fashionable and concise and importantly it isn't over complicated and anything that you don't understand is solved with its handy manual. ...

...something else (cheaper lol) and Philips looked good and was only (like its nothing hahaha) £159.99!
It sounded good, played well and stored an average amount of MP3's. It claimed it could store 1,000 however buy 500 it was looking pretty full and these weren't massive files i was putting it!

Advantages: compact and simple to use , this stylish little device carries your entire music collection Disadvantages: none that I have found
This is one of my " cant live without " gadgets , and possibly some of the best money I have ever spent !
Its cute , compact and well styled , with a simple user interface and the minimum amount of buttons ( which suits me fine ! )
So easy to use , it has an easy upload facility by linking to your PC you can add , remove , name and organise your music exactly as you like it
In use , you can choose between display modes .. all music , by group ... ...quality is excellent , and with the 1.5 MB capacity you should never have to choose which of your favourite tracks to include and which to leave out The installation CD is quick , easy and informative , and the rechargable battery lasts for ages between charges
In ear headphones are suplied , and are perfectly good quality , but through personal choice I have replaced mine with another pair which I already had and found more comfortable for me

Advantages: Small, easy to use, lots of space Disadvantages: none
I was bought this product as a present last year on the day it came out. I went on holiday two days later which was a great time to try it out. I listened to my music all through the flights and was able to store my whole collection of mp3's on it. At the moment I have 700 songs stored. Its also great for the gym- its a nice size (smaller than the IPOD) and is easy to operate whilst running on the treadmill or on cycling on the bike. Not only is ... ...a USB stick. I have used it to transfer word documents and music videos from one PC to another so it truely is really conveniant. I highly reccomend this product. Its is aesthetically pleasing and hard wearing (im rather clumsy and have dropped it on serveral occasions but no problems). Highly reccomended. A**** to Phillips! ...

...Battery life is excellent, meets philips claims. Only critisism of the player is no resume after switch off.
PC interface is poor. its simple to transfer tracks to the player once they are in the view window but updating the list of files is slow and startup of the software is slow. Playlists seem to be limited to 99 tracks. Interface doesnt allow resizing of each window and can be difficult to see names of tracks

Advantages: Large Hard drive, excellent sound quality / ear phones Disadvantages: software used to place tracks on the player
The philips hdd060 mp3 player has a unformatted Harddrive of 1.5gb, but comes to around 1.3gb when formatted.
The mp3 player itself is sleek and stylish and is just smaller than a credit card. It comes with an attachable neckpiece so you can hang it off your neck safely.
The harddrive itself is silent, and the only problem with it is the fact it has a slower loading time between songs then other mp3players
The player comes with 3 diffrent colour ... ...The hdd060 comes with its own software you must use to place tracks on it, the software didnt work at first for me (windows xp home sp2) when i installed it, so it lead me to format my computer and reinstall windows but it still didnt work, so i went to www.philips.co.uk and downloaded the latest version of the software and it worked like a charm.
A great buy but recommend getting from www.planetmicro.co.uk (it only comes to 82 quid)

...I used to have a Philips fisio 820 which is bad news but I bought the mp3 player any why and I have to say that the Philips Mp3 player is a good first time mp3 player as its firmware is pretty good even thought there are no updates for it the software on the computer side however is appalling Philips say that mp3 player is locked to it because of music copy write laws so your stuck with the software but the rest of the mp3 player is great.
The Philips ... ...thick as a chocolate bar. Philips clams in this model that they use weight saving materials like magnesium to save weight but its weight is around the same as an ipod mini but it rubs the ipod mini in mud when it comes to battery life which an independent site clams to be 10 hrs

Advantages: Easy To Use, Alternative to Expensive MP3's Disadvantages: Slow Software, Freezes very often. Breaks easily.
I bought one of these as a temporary solution, as I couldn't afford the 60GB i-Pod I wanted, and it did end up being temporary as it didn't last long.
For sound-quality, I found it poor, if you turned it up to a medium level, the sound partially distorted, which meant not all the lyrics were clear, for the price I paid, I wasn't too impressed.
After 1 month and a half of having it, I stopped using it as it proved to be unreliable, and froze and ...
