Advantages: Easy to use, quick, easy to clean, tasty results Disadvantages: Initial cost, and mesh filter can be fiddly to clean
Once I'd made up my mind I wanted a juicer I couldn't wait to get one. I'd done a bit of research on the internet, but to be honest it left me pretty clueless. There were so many to choose from. All I knew is it had to be dishwasher safe - I hate washing up!!
I came across the Phillips Juicer (HR1861) in the Argos book. I had it in my mind with juicers, as with many appliances, that you get what you pay for. This juicer was priced at £99.99 on the ... ...making it £74.99 (this price is still correct at the time of writing this 08/12/05). "Bargain" I thought. Not long later, I'd been to my local Argos and bought it.
The Looks
*************
This juicer looks classy. I didn't want a white plastic one, as not only do I think they look cheap, but experience with white appliances tells me they discolour eventually. This one is finished mainly in brushed aluminium. Other parts of it are black plastic ...

Advantages: Very easy to clean Disadvantages: Fibrous fruit tend to block the blades
We bought this before christmas and never looked back. Fresh juices every morning, very easy to clean, just rinsing under hot water or the components will all go into the dishwasher. One tip, make sure you use the plastic bags you get from the supermarkets that you fill your fruit with and place it into the collector. This keeps all the flesh together and can disposed of easily. Pineapples and fibrous fruit are good to juice but the only thing is ...

Advantages: Easy to make juice. Disadvantages: None
I ultimately reccomend this juicer, it was given to my dad as a gift but i soon adopted it! Once you realise actually how easy it is to make a superb tasting juice, it just becomes a part of your life style. Forget buying expensive juice in small quatities; you now can produce whatever you want.
I first thought a juicer would be no end of work, chopping or breaking or difficult to wash. I soon discovered, the fruit just goes in whole and most of ... ...a year now with no trouble. It has two settings, one for harder fruit; e.g. apples (which with big ones you do sometimes have to cut in half) and one for oranges etc. With oranges and lemons you do still have to cut the skin off, but keep the pith on since it hold many nutrients. The juicer cannot make smoothies however, you have to blend in the soft fruit e.g. banana with the juice you make.
A trick to make washing up easier is to put a plastic ...

Advantages: Large chute, large pulp container, large jug Disadvantages: Pulp sticks in lid, pulp container sometimes comes loose
I have just bought one of these juicers and I am so happy with it. It is easy to use; you don't need to peel most fruits and vegetables plus everything goes down the chute without any need for chopping. It is also very quiet to operate. It is easy to clean - all the parts are dishwasher safe (apart from the motor of course). There are a couple of trivial things that I dislike about it: the pulp container can come loose if it isn't seated properly ... ...to move and it is a bit of a shock when it does) and the pulp gets stuck in the lid. As I said, they are fairly trivial faults and nothing to worry about. It costs a bit more than other juicers, but is well worth it! ...

...has actually never broken down! Philips is a good make who make sturdy and good-looking products and offer good product warranties 'just in case'. When I bought mine it also came with a great juicer receipe book for some tasty healthy juicies.
It's quite compact compared to other juicers on the market and so doesn't look out of place in my small kitchen. Highly recommended! ...

Advantages: Very fast efficient way of making healthy tasty drinks Disadvantages: None
...expensive and I saw the Philips in a London store for just under £100 and bought it. It is easy to use, very easy to take apart for cleaning and re-assemble. It is a very effcient juicer and the pulp which comes out is nearly dry which is a sign of a good juicer. A couple of years later I saw one of the La Lanne models on special offer and decided there would be no harm in owning a "spare". I was very disappointed. The juicer has more parts that ... ...ads for the La Lanne Juicer, and is torn between the two, the Philips is definitely the better option. Advantages: Easy to use and clean Disadvantages: Possibly a little pricey
As a general rule, I like to stay in shape, and so to get my daily dosage of fruit is a certain must. However, before i had this juicer i was constantly eating fruit which for me became rather tiresome and also time consuming. Now i have this, i literally wake up ten minutes earlier in the morning, sort my fruit mixes out, pop the parts in the dishwasher. Very easy to clean, although, the mesh filter usually needs to be hand washed , as my dishwasher ...
