Background: I had never considered cutting my own hair until recently. My father is in a care home and would not let anyone cut his hair and it has become very long and quite wild, so I suggested to him, being his favourite son (ok only son!!), that I cut it for him. He seemed happy with this idea so I investigated the hair clippers market and wondered if it might work on me too. The product: I checked out what where the popular models for various internet sales sites and discovered the Philips QC5170 seemed a popular model with lots of easy to use features. So I went on Dooyoo and Ciao to see ... more

Introduction Home haircutting what a good idea (and a hell of a way to shave some money sorry that should be save some money). With the price of getting a haircut climbing i mean getting charged £12 a go and having to get it done every month, it's an expense that i could do without. I don't have the most complicated of styles as you can see from my profile picture, it's a sort of modern day short back and sides with some spiky bits on top. I also am not that concerned about getting it cut and styled at a designer outlet like Toni and guy and then paying four times the amount for the pleasure ... more

Advantages Advantages Close Shave, Ideal For Self Use

I have nearly always shaved my hair off I never really know why could be force of habit I suppose having my mother shaving my hair as a child the Army shaving it as a Teen and me shaving it for ease's sake as I get older. The benefit's of a shaved head are easy to clean and keep clean, ready to go at the drop of a hat and no expensive hairdresser bill's when you have your own clippers. The main problem I have always found when shaving my own hair is finding a good quality set of hair clippers that actually are designed for the self user in the Army and as a child it was always done for me but ... more

Advantages Advantages Light, easy to use, cuts your hair.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some bits not even (but easily sorted).

There is one certainty in this life and that is getting older and for some of us this means losing your hair. When my dad started loosing his hair he grew it longer and swept it over the top of his head to discreetly hide his bald patch, as in the famous "Comb over" style favoured by Bobby Charlton, Donald Trump or the Emperor Constantine. However today this style is not quite the fashion and men have 3 main choices for different budgets: 1. £10000 gets you a Ryan Gigs style hair transplant 2. £25 gets you a pair of hair clippers for a Bruce Willis cut 3. £0 gets you the sod it haircut of Bill ... more

Great product, BUT read the whole review before buying!!! I have been cutting my own hair for several years now and have always used corded heavy standard clippers. but then thought i would try these Design - These are fantastically designed clippers, they are light, they look great, and they feel awesome in your hands. They have a perfect curve and grip on them so at whatever angle you are holding them you sure not to drop them. Some people who review these say they are too light and if you threw them across the floor they will break!! They are light but they are not designed to be ... more
