PHILIPS SENSEO COFFEE MAKER
Being a student guarantees one thing: late nights. When the time comes to write those impossible essays and reports, you had better have a jug of coffee handy. I used to use the drip coffee maker downstairs, and fill up the jug to the top to do me for the night. Now, the problem there is cold coffee (since the hotplate is downstairs), and stale coffee. It was drinkable, but certainly not enjoyable.
I should firstly give ... ...about the wonders of the Philips Senseo. WHAT IS IT
The Senseo is a beautiful machine, which is quite compact. It does not use messy loose ground coffee, but instead it utilises the ingenious coffee pods. These are fantastic inventions, which are like tea bags of coffee. You simply place them in the machine, and water is pushed through, providing a delicious beverage. The result is smooth, fresh tasting coffee with a delightful crema (the beautiful ...

Philips also have their own website www.philips.com which I should imagine features all their products but am sure will have a spot for their coffee maker should you feel the need to explore further.

Advantages: Great tasting coffee in 90 seconds ! Disadvantages: A little bit on the expensive side.
When I recently received a phone call stating that I'd won a prize in a raffle I'd entered, I was fairly excited. When I found out that I'd won a coffee machine, I was a bit disappointed. (We already have a coffee maker that we rarely use, due to the effort of getting it out the cupboard, setting it up and cleaning it afterwards !).
What I wasn't expecting, however, was the "Phillips Senseo" - the most up to date coffee machine available.
The Senseo ... ...a joint product between electronic manufacturers Phillips and Douwe Egberts, who produce coffee. Their aim is to provide great tasting coffee in a quick and convenient way.
Upon opening the box, you are presented with the coffee machine, a few loose parts and a bag of coffee pods.
The machine itself measures approximately 13" x 12" x 10", and looks very streamlined and modern. It comes in one of three colours - Black, White and Blue.
They have ...

Advantages: Ideal for single cups of filter coffee without the mess of the usual machines Disadvantages: Initial outlay high, special filter bags required which are also expensive
Had this machine since October 2005 when my husband won it from work. We weren't even going to keep it as we had a filter coffee machine and a cafetiere which were hardly ever used.....then I saw the tv advert!!
I was won over by the idea of the 'crema cafe layer' ! Within moments of watching the advert, which strangely i'd never taken any notice of before, the machine was out of the box and plugged into the wall. So yes, it's electric.
Scanned ... ...the machine, take to the tap and fill with water - that was easy, it just pops on and off, no nasty clips or fasteners to go wrong.
Decide whether you are making one or two coffees and choose the right filter holder. That was easy too, the two cup filter holder is deeper than the one cup version.
Lift the latch on the lid - still easy to do, feels sturdy like it should last, put the filter holder in and it slots into place so can't go wrong with ...

Advantages: So easy to use ! Great coffee in a matter of seconds ! Disadvantages: Limited variety of pods in the UK.
Calling all coffee lovers ! If you want all the convenience of real coffee but in kettle-boiling time then the Senseo may just be for you. We got our Senseo machine as a wedding gift, not really knowing what to expect. We wanted a coffee-maker that would give us great tasting coffee at home, but without the fuss of dismantling a machine every time we wanted a fresh cup. We're also impatient and didn't want to have to wait for our caffeine fix. The ... ...The Senseo has an easy fill water tank at the back which you fill to the required level with cold water - clearly marked so no mistakes ! You open the lid and pop in 1 or 2 coffee pods depending on how may cups you're making. You stick your cup or cups underneath the spout and press a button. The water in the tank heats up in a matter of seconds. When the light stops flashing press the 1 or 2 cup pour button and voila - your coffee is served. It ...

...have worked in conjunction with Philips to produce the coffee that goes into the pods. The pods take the quesswork out of how much coffee to use, there is the perfect amount in each pod. Advantages: Good Coffee, Stylish, Very Easy to Use Disadvantages: Very little
We won tickets to the BBC Good Homes exhibition at the NEC in May, we ended up buying a Staffordshire Garden Furniture Pagoda and a Phillips Senseo Coffee Maker.
Unlike the Pagoda we took the coffee maker home!
My wife is the coffee lover - I personally do not like coffee at all.
We got it for the show price with free coffee pods and mugs for £40.
It is blue and stylish and just over 1 foot high.
It uses coffee pods rather than granuals, these ... ...easy, the pods go in a holder under the lid, the reservoir at the back holds enough water for 5 or 6 cups.
Normal usage is wait to boil with the correct pods, put the cups under the spout and press the correct button for the number of pods (one pod button and a two pod button)
To make a mug of coffee my wife uses 1 decaf. pod and a whole cup full, then waits to reboil(just a few seconds) then puts another half cup through (pressing the big button ...

Advantages: Quick, easy to use, price Disadvantages: None
My husband bought me the Senseo coffee maker for a Christmas present 2006, I must say it was one of the best things he has ever bought me.I love my coffee and have used it most days and more than once a day since. It is still going strong!
The Senseo doesn't have all the fancy bits to it that other coffee machines do, but it makes a nice cup of coffee and is very easy to use. The coffee comes out hot, but not boiling (my mum was never impressed ... ...coffees scolding). I have occasionally had trouble with leaks, but not very often. All in all, I like it. Its a good price and makes nice coffee, itt is also easy to clean, which is another bonus for me. You can buy the pods easily in supermarkets or online, where you get quite a wide selection. Although, the pods can be quite expensive in the supermarkets, so I tend to buy bulk online. -Medium Roast 18 Ground Coffee Pods (125g) Asda £1.79 Tesco ...

Advantages: just as god as the cafe's Disadvantages: expensive to run
I love my coffee machine but it is expensive. I bought mine new from Argos. It came with two free packs of coffee and cost £105.99.
Operating is a really easy, you shove the little container in the top, close, fill with water, press button and hello lovely cuppa coffee!
The only problem I have found is that nowhere does the inserts! I've got to drive to another supermarket which I wouldn't normally use to pick up the inserts which is a pain and ... ...well. It would cost you about £6 for 20 cups of coffee, which compared to normal coffee is really expensive.
If you opt for the latte inserts, you only get 10, because 10 of the inserts are condensed milk! Talk about rip off. What a waste of money. I would recommend this to people who love coffee and don't have a baby because the machine is really loud. If you don't like coffee that much I would recommend to stick to a normal pot and save your money!!! ...

Advantages: Easy to use, great coffee Disadvantages: Pods quite pricey
We got one of the Senseo coffeee makers for Christmas which didn't excite me as I'm a little sceptical of machines like this ever since I had a sodastream many years ago.
Anyway, my wife unpacked it and made the first cup of coffee which looked too frothy but tasted absolutely fantastic. I was hooked from that moment.
It's so easy to use, just fill the removable water reservoir, pop in a coffee pod, switch on and pour.
There is a small or large ... ...the large cup option to fill a normal mug.
Senseo recommend that you use 2 pods for the large cup but we don't and the strength is just right.
You can buy either medium or dark roast Senseo pods which costa round £2.20 for 18 pods - quite pricey but only if you drink loads of the stuff.
The problem is that the coffee tastes so good that you end up drinking more of it.
Our mugs are quite tall and we have to take out the drip tray to fit them under ...

Quick review of Philips Senseo Coffee maker
Bought a Senseo in December 2005.
Many people complain that the amount of coffee dispensed is insufficient, however as any coffee connoisseur will tell you, it's not the size that counts but the contents.

The only coffee that tasted better was a cup I had in Brussels.

Quick review of Philips Senseo Coffee maker
I purchases on of these machines myself about 6 years ago when they were new into the market and was very pleased with the quality of the drink, especially verses instant or filter coffee.
Although the pods were a little expensive, I felt it pretty good value for money. 2 years ago however, I purchased a domestic bean to cup coffee machine from Denby Dale Coffee www.denbydalecoffee.co.uk and realised what I was really missing out on.
The coffee machine was obviously more expensive, it was the Jura C5, but with very good and speedy service from Denby Dale Coffee, I was delighted to learn that the coffee beans they supplied cost about a fifth of the pod prices per cup and the quality blew the pods out of the water and the range of different espresso blends is vast. ...

i have tasted many different types of coffee but coffee from this machine is by far my favorite taste and gets the balance between taste and strength perfectly.if you want the exact cup of good coffee every time then this is definitely the product for you. the only disadvantage is of the coffee maker is that it is not particularly cost effective. genius as they are the coffee pods to place inside the machine are not cheap. Advantages: Quick, easy, convenient Disadvantages: Coffe not very hot, and coffee very small
We bought this as we like filter coffee and thought this looked much easier. I would say that it is not easier though. You fill the reservoir with cold water at the back and out a pod or two in the top of the machine. one for one cup, two for two cups. Put your cup underneath, make sure it is a small one or your guest will think you drank half of their coffee. Coffee comes out with a nice froth on the top but if you want to make sure it is hot enough ... ...black or add hot milk. When I had family round I spent ages in the kitchen making two cups at a time changing the pods for fresh ones as I made them. I would say that this is a good machine for making yourself a quick cuppa which you want to drink right away or for a small after dinner coffee. But not great due to the small size and warmth of the drink made.
overall I would say this coffee maker may suit some and not others. My mum likes this machine ...
