Philips 107E Super CRT!

Advantages: Clear vivid picture
Disadvantages: Static switching noises

...in at 33.0 lbs, the Philips 107E is fat and heavyyy. Dot pitch 0.23Mm. Design ------ As CRTs are, they are big and heavy. They take up a lot of desk space and you don't often feel like moving them around to suit the position you're in and this one doesn't try to make an exception. The casing is pure white and fairly solid. Air vents are dotted by the hundred on the back for suitable cooling and does get quite warm. There is a swivel stand to ...
...As I would expect from Philips (having the best monitor\TV picture ever from a display that still works normally after 13 or so years), the picture is as good as it gets in the PC CRT monitor category. Refresh rates are kept stable and flicker free. The brightness and contrast controls are put at 100% in the settings to get a fairly visible picture. In games many monitors tend to be too dark to see properly. If you've got Silent Hill 2 for the PC, ...

A short 17 inch monitor

Advantages: Cheap(ish), very short length, good quality
Disadvantages: Not flat, technical support is in Sweden

I was looking for a nice pair of 17" monitors and stumbled across the Phillips 107E. As it's a monitor there's not much to say, but it's main feature (for me anyway) is that the length/depth (distance from front of monitor to the back) is shortest for a 17" monitor. So if space is a concern then this is a good buy. It has good saturation, brightness, etc. The On Screen Display(OSD) is easy to use and works well. Refresh rates are quite good for ...
...at 1152x864 at 75Hz, and it's not bad! Of course there are a few problems. One is that it's not a flat screen so you're gonna have to fiddle with the OSD for every resolution, and even then it's not going to be perfect. The last problem is the technical support. If you have to return to the manufacturer (i.e. Philips) then if you're in Europe you will probably end up dealing with people in Sweden. Excellent english, accent can be a bit trying. ...

A very good choice of CRT monitor

Advantages: Clear, crisp picture.
Disadvantages: Quite deep, degauss when turned on.

This is a good CRT monitor and can be found at a very reasonable price at auction. 17" works best at a 1024x768 resolution with a 75hZ or more refresh rate. This monitor has a very clear, crisp picture, and a range of settings to set it up to your liking. Works very well for a gaming setup, I see no problems when laying fast-paced games such as UT2004, and DVD playing is also great. The only two problems I have with this monitor are the large depth ...
