    Now don’t get jealous karenuk, tange, seagulls lost horizon and you other Ciao Dr Who addicts, but I have a huge Dalek collection, and next to my mistress, they are my pride and joy. Not even my Son, who’s a brainwashed Dr Who fan, gets to touch them. I even have a two handed Davros before the company, Dapol, realised that Davros only has one hand, and had to withdraw the entire range and make new ones.     Moving house is listed as one of the ten most stressful things that can happen to you in a lifetime, along with the death of someone close to you, divorce and marriage (and amputation of your pussycats leg a week before your move!). Imagine the situation…your husband leaves the country for four months, meanwhile you sell your house and have to organise how to store all your junk (and we seem to have a lot of it) so that it can be moved to your new house (which you have yet to buy!) once the other half reappears.     I moved house in May 2004 and having shopped around for local removals firms decided on Pickfords. I had requested quotations from a few firms but Pickfords were the only ones who offered to come out and visit the house in order to give an accurate quotation. Initially they weren’t the cheapest quote but when I phoned to say that obviously moving is an expensive time and our decision on who to use would be based on removal price they managed to shave a substantial amount off the price.     Advantages Advantages Average quote, prompt delivery of removal boxes. Friendly, efficient employees delivering.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages May as well have been burgled! £500 out of pocket for damaged items. Disgusting customer service

    Almost exactly a year ago we payed Pickfords a good bunch of money to move from Northern Ireland to Cornwall. Initially, we were quite impressed. Reasonably competitive quote, removal boxes arrived promptly, and Pickfords were able to adjust the removal date according to the delays we experienced due to the delayed sale of our old house, as well as the purchase of the new home. We decided to pay an additional amount to have fragile items transported to our new home.     International move. AP were supposed to provide full packing/moving/unpacking/insurance. Men arrived 3 hours late. Couldn't contact anyone who would tell us what was going on. When men did arrive we were given no reasons and they had no packing boxes/materials so they had to go off again to get them. We wondered if we'd ever see them again. Sloppy packing - items not properly wrapped; clothes thrown into boxes. At the destination the crate containing everything had been crushed. Yes, every item was damaged in some way.     well things are still the same at Pickford's i have been waiting for two months for them to deal with my claim i ring time after time and are promised people will call me back but my phone lays silent i have had three broken ornaments one broken lamp four phones and one Bose remote control disappear into thin air the four legs of my leather settee and one gaping hole in the bottom all for the small price of three-thousand-pound i have used them about ten years ago and had a few items broken but on that occasion dealt with it prompt what has gone so bad for them in the last decade as for their ... more

    I have moved more times than I care to remember and like most people I have many stories to share and they are always pretty horific in one way or another. However, I am going to recommend Pickfords for one reason and one only. If you want a trouble free move, no breakages, everyone turning up when promised, cheap charges, arrival on time, and an accurate assessment of how long and how many men are required and when, then Pickfords may not be the one for you. However, from my experience I suggest you are unlikley to find many companies that meet these requirements all the time. What I like ... more

    following my separation from my partner, we had to sell the 4 bed house we had bought for ourselves and our two children. I subsequently bought a small flat for myself and my young son (my ex rented a flat with our daughter) and we split our belongings between us.I organised removal to my new two-bed flat and was quoted less than £550 by two different companies. Unfortunately, by the time I tried to book them, they had no slots available. I therefore had to find someone else quickly and looked at Pickfords’ website.     very very bad. They miss quoted then made us pay more. would not accept there error even thou we proved it. cost us a lot of money. never use Pickfords, they lie cheet you out of money then hold your goods till you pay wjhat they want

    We chose Pickfords because a.their price was not far out of the competitors, b. the lady who approached us was very nice, c. because was a name we were used to see so though they would be reputable. Ended up being extremely expensive with all the hidden costs+ poor service+ damages into ANYTHING they could damage from mishandling and storing. They offered us transport insurance which was 4 times ourYEARLY insurance premium which WOULDN"T COVER any damages anyway for items we had packed ourselves, in other words for anything since we did the packing!!!!!
