My Mum recommended Piriton to me as she suffers from hayfever aswell.
It is a general anti-histhamine, so it can be used to treat any sort of minor allergic reaction.
When I first tried it, it made me so incredibly sleepy, I took two a day for about a week and I had built up a resistance to the sedative in them.
They get to work in about 15-20 minutes, so it is best to take them sooner rather than later.
i have used them for hayfever, ... ...after several years of having used them ( I asked the pharmacist and she said you can't build a resistance to the anti-histhamine, only the sedative ingredient).
They are around £3.99 for 30 or £5.99 for 60, they are fantastic value and I don't know what I would do without them! ...

Quick review of Piriton Allergy Tablets
I got bitten by an unknown insect yesterday and my leg swole up. I was advised to take piriton. I took it at lunch and within half an hour I was dangerously tired, literally falling asleep at my desk. I wish I never took it as I feel so terrible and heavy. Lets hope it actually helps the bite, although it seems to continue radiating heat ...
