Playing with Play Doh

Advantages: Great fun for children
Disadvantages: None

~~ Background ~~ After finishing the bulk of my Christmas shopping, I was after a few small gifts for my children as stocking fillers. I didn't want to spend a fortune on something, so I didn't know quite what to buy. I had brought a few small cars to go in Gareth's stocking, some sweets and chocolate, but was on the lookout for something else. I popped into 'Toy 'R Us' in Cardiff for some inspiration. I spent a while wandering around the aisles, ...
...Doh - or to be more precise, a small tub of Play Doh. This small tub was an absolute bargain at £1.49. I had already bought some of the normal sized tubs of 'Soft Stuff' from the Early Learning Centre, so I thought that this small one would be ideal. ~~ The Packaging ~~ The Play Doh itself comes in a small yellow container, with a yellow label on it, which goes all the way around the tub. On the front of the label there is a red cloud shape and ...

Doh,don't forget your passport! Play Doh Travel

Advantages: Lots of other sets to add to it. Wheeled trolly bag.
Disadvantages: Once colours are mixed they're a nightmare to seperate.

...a little about Play Doh- Play-Doh was invented by Noah McVicker and Joseph McVicker in 1956 and awarded U.S. Patent 3,167,440 in 1965. One of many common products invented by accident, it was meant as a wallpaper cleaner. It was marketed by toy manufacturer Rainbow Crafts, and first sold at the Woodward & Lothrop department store in Washington, D.C. Play-Doh, is a commercial modeling compound, like a salt dough which is similar in feel to bread ...
...in a sealed container Play-Doh remains soft, but when left out in the air it will go hard. It will crack once hard and isnt any good for projects you wish to keep. if your play doh starts to go hard you can add water to it "one drop at a time" to restore its softness. The Product- The packaging for the set is a clear plastic zip up travel case, like a suitcase/luggage for travelling. it has a yellow extendable plastic handle as well as a fabric ...

Fun in a Tub with Play Doh

Advantages: so many things to make
Disadvantages: bits in the carpet

...Upon hearing that Play-Doh was Jack's favourite thing to do at the crèche I popped straight down to my local Woolworth's to pick up a tub or two. I assumed the age range on the Play-Doh was 3+ but surprisingly on the single tubs, it states 2+. This age range is not that far away from Jack's actual age, which reassured me more that he would get lots of fun from playing with it. Play-Doh is sold in a variety of different colours and buying a single ...
...dog buying white and brown Play-Doh would be perfect. There are also a wide verity of accessories that are available from the Play-Doh range. Of course these make Play-Doh a more expensive creative toy to get but nonetheless add to the fun that can be brought about by playing with the Doh. Jack loves to use the stuff now and finds nothing more fun that squeezing it through his fists or rolling it out into worm shapes. The possibilities for play are ...

Play-Doh - Creative Fun for All Ages!

Advantages: Creative, versatile, endless fun
Disadvantages: Can be a bit messy, dries out quickly

...buy him (and myself!) some Play-Doh along with all the accessories and tools and start playing! In case you have never handled Play-Doh before, let me give you a short description. It is a soft modelling compound resembling bread dough that comes in all kinds of colours. It is much softer than modelling clay or plasticine and easier to mould or shape, making it suitable for younger children. The recommended age is 2+, though some of the play sets ...
...as good as the original Play-Doh (if not better!) in my opinion. However, I've seen a few copy cat products on the market which have turned out to be of inferior quality. One brand that I wouldn't recommend in particular is Kid's Dough by Kid's Toys. I bought a pack of six pots the other day in a factory outlet store and two of them were so sticky that I had to throw them away. The other four pots are usable but not nearly as good as Play-Doh or ...

making pretend cakes and models

Advantages: good toy
Disadvantages: none

Playdoh Playdoh a non-toxic pliable reusable modelling compound was first made by rainbow crafts in 1956.It was produced in Cincinnati America. I am not sure when it was introduced to England. Playdoh is now made by Hasbro. Playdoh at this time was only available in white (I bet it got dirty pretty quick.) Other colours were introduced a year later. Playdoh comes in tubs in an assortment of colours, red, green, and blue, white, yellow. Tubs are ...

Fun???? i do not think so!

Advantages: Kids are quiet for ages, they get creative.
Disadvantages: Kids are quiet for ages cos they're getting creative mashing into the carpet!

I first encountered play-doh when i was working as a nursery nurse, the kids were mashing it, cutting it, melding into some sort of rocket ship, tower, phallic shape, ok it looked like fun so having an inner child (who only usually comes out after a few bevvys) i decided to give it a go. Most adults spend hours dribbling over play-doh like a kitten massages a blanket, they sit with their tongues lolling to the side of their mouths trying to build ...
...they never got to mash play-doh but whatever, they would just have to play with it when they were at playschool or at a friends, i am that mean! Just call me bad mummy!!!! It was Olivia's birthday some horrible friend of mine decided to buy her a pot of play-doh, i am ashamed to say it was given away, i generally hate the stuff that bad, when the top is peeled off all i want to do is throw-up, the smell is awful, i never knew that that was the tip ...

PlayDoh.....I Doh..n't Really Think So!!

Advantages: Keeps kids amused
Disadvantages: Smelly

I bought this for my little boy a few weeks ago from ToysRUs for 5.99 for a pack of 6 tubs. Its actually a really good material to play with and allows your child to make loads of interesting shapes. Each tub contained different colours however these are mixed together very quickly to create a mishmash of PlayDoh colour. PlayDoh does have a very synthetic smell which personally i don't like. However there are some good qualities like if its lying ...
...out and maintains that wet feel about it. The containers are very attractive and colourful and the plastic resealble lid sets it apart from plasticine in my mind. The kids love it but to be honest, dont expect too may hours of fun from this, my kids moved on very quickly to something else. Its worth trying though. Environmentally, the tub is recycleable but not sure at all about the PlayDoh. ...

Why Play Dough Is the Best Toy Ever

Advantages: It is different than other toys, it has bonus features, and it's non-toxic
Disadvantages: it doesn't taste as good as a real hamburger

One time I was at the store a long time ago and I was hungry cuz I didn’t eat before that day except for a lunch that was small and it was from McDonalds that I like a lot but it was small so I was hungry after I ate it. So anyway, I was at the store, and I was hungry, so I was like Man! I’m hungry, so I go to the food court, cuz it was a store in the mall where they have a food court so I went there but they didn’t have pizza. Pizza’s my favorite, ...
...toy. I like playdough cuz it’s different than my other toys that are broken, cuz if you break playdough you can squish it together again. And its also good cuz it won’t kill you when you eat it. And also it’s good because you can get extra toys with it, like the McDonalds set where you can make playdough food, like a happy meal, like the lunch I had that one time, except it’s made of playdough instead of a burger. That’s why playdough’s the best ...
