A Boy Betrayed

Advantages: An insight into the lives of those whom are abused
Disadvantages: Extremely sad and disturbing

A lot of the books I tend to read are true stories, most of which tend to upset me when I am reading them but nonetheless i still keep buying more and more true stories to read. One book in particular which I read recently upset me a great deal and it was pretty hard to read the book without feeling disgusted and sick. This book was called Please Daddy No which was written by Stuart Howarth – I think that by the name of the book you get a rough idea ...
...and disturbing book which will bring most of us to tears – admittedly this has to be one of the saddest and most horrific books I have read in a long time. The book is written by Stuart Howarth – and the story is all about his life the abuse he suffered and how it affected his life right up to adulthood. The book takes us way back to when Stuart was a little boy aged 5 and this is when the abuse started – Stuart lived on a council estate in Manchester ...

Soul Destroying

Advantages: You must read the book to decide !
Disadvantages: Graphic portrayal of abuse

...are all that desperate! Please, Daddy, No..is a true story written by a guy named Stuart Howarth. As you may have guessed by the title this book is not for the faint hearted. It truly is a gruesome and harrowing account of child abuse, sexual, mental and physical. I would not recommend that you read it if you are not keen on the subject matter. The story is based in a council estate in Manchester. Stuart has two sisters, Christine and Shirley. ...
...spina bifid. The there is Stuart and his Mother. David is alleged to be Stuarts father but Shirl and Christine are of differing parentage. To be frank this is possibly the worst thing for Stuart to know. Living ina dingy, rotten filthy house with his entire family and some mangy dogs. He is still proud that he has a Father. Not many of the other kids on the estate do. And he is proud and wants to do anything to please the main figure of love and ...

Advantages: A great read
Disadvantages: A bit to graphic

I was recently given this book to read by a family member, and to be honest when I asked her what the story was about I was quite dubious as to whether I wanted to read it or not as this is not the type of story I would personally go for myself. I must say though that once I started reading I could not put it down and had completed it in two days. This book has twenty chapters, an acknowledements page and an Introduction which goes : " There are ...
...abuse on a daily basis. You can turn a blind eye and consider this too nasty to read about, or you can take a courageous step forward and share a few moments from my world. We can only bring about change by doing something postitve and being prepared to listen. This is my story." The book as a whole, is a mans biography of how he spent his childhood being abused both mentally and sexually by his step father. All he wants is for his father to love ...

Advantages: Emotional book about his lost childhood
Disadvantages: detail of abuse

Ive recently finished this book and have one word to say EXCELLENT. This book is man who tells the puplic is childhood, how he was treated badly and what he went through his life because of his father abusing him. His father treated him like a animal; he was made to do things that as a child he wouldnt understand (abused). I would love to read this book again; nearly everyone in my family has read this book and all loved it. It is in great detail ...

Advantages: Real life content makes the book all the more moving
Disadvantages: Some of the content is hard to read through and highly emotional

This book was without doubt the most emotionally moving read I've ever experienced. I couldn't put it down and finished it within 3 days. It was tough going in some places but gave me such insight to the suffering that children can go through, and then the suffering that can befall them as adults. The book takes us through the life of Stuart Howarth, from a small boy of 3 years old right up to adult hood: from his mental and sexual abuse as a child, ...
...murder of his step-father and abuser. I did think at the beginning I wouldn't be able to stick it out, but I'm so glad I did as it tested not only my strength of character, but has also inspired me to try and do something to change the lives of children suffering abuse - something I've wanted to do for a long time and now Stuart has given me that push I needed. There is some extremely graphic descriptions of abuse in the first half of this book, ...

The story is about a young guy who goes through a lot of abuse as a young boy, and while his sisters told there story to the police he kept quiet untill he was an adult because he believed what was happening was being bought on by himself. Betrayed by his father

Advantages: Its a good read
Disadvantages: It'll make you cry for him

I have read many of these books to try to understand human nature. When I started reading this book I found it hard to put down and read it in 2 days, I cried all the way through it, I read a lot of books like this one but found this one to be very disturbing in what evil there is in the world, it is a must read, but beware it is very disturbing This book however had me sobbing and my heart went out to this young boy, who did nothing wrong. It is ...
...their lives, when faced with such adversity. A compelling and sympathetic read. Very well written and also opens our eyes to the prison regime. Good luck Stuart in everything you achieve in this life. God only knows you deserve it. Stuart Howarth tells the heart wrenching story of his life, in what is without doubt, one of the most open and honest accounts you will find. 'Please Daddy No' takes you right inside a little boy's mind and in no time ...
