Stuart just wanted his father to love him, but he was made to believe he was too naughty to be loved. Finally, David Howarth was sent to prison for abusing Stuart's young sisters....
more...Nobody knew the truth about Stuart's abuse until one fateful day when his father tried it again and Stuart fought back in the only way he knew how. Stuart Howarth spent the first thirty years of his life in mental and physical hell. After years of emotional torment and despair, at the age of 32 Stuart felt an overwhelming urge to see his father (who he now knew was actually his stepfather), then living in Wales. Seeking reconciliation, Stuart was only to be met by the same old abusive man. The rage, pain and confusion boiled over in Stuart and he fought back, killing his stepfather. When Stuart's story came to light in the courtroom, it was so terrible that he received the minimum possible sentence for his crime and only served thirteen months in Strangeways prison in Manchester. But while in prison, the cruel system compounded the crimes of his evil abuser, and he suffered at the hands of the prison guards. What happened to him during those months led to him suing the Home Office and Strangeways on his release and winning his case. This is the story of a sweet-natured boy who grew into a brave young man and refused to allow himself to be a victim any longer. From the AuthorChild Abuse has become a part of everyday life because we choose to ignore it - it is too nasty to even consider that it happens. The truth is, it happens and in order to learn we must first of all listen to survivors stories. Not only will it educate society, it will heal the survivor. Every mother and father has a duty to protect and educate their children so that they can feel safe in todays world. Survivors - every day we are sad, down, lonely, shameful, guilty, depressed or suicidal - the abuser wins!Break free look forward not back and be sure in your heart that you are never alone. My love, thoughts and prayers are with the still suffering and may your God be with you x See all Product Description

Advantages: You must read the book to decide !
Disadvantages: Graphic portrayal of abuse

I have been reading now for a long time before I go to bed. I find that it relaxes me and really I use it as a claming mechanism and a way to stop thinking about stuff that happened during the day at work! However I say that, many of my books that I read are about abuse, autism and emotionally unstable kids. So a bit of a busman’s holiday really, but to be honest I do like seeing others peoples perspectives on such topics and comparing my ideas to ... Read review

Review of Please, Daddy, No: A Boy Betrayed - Stuart Howarth by STELAINE

Advantages: A great read
Disadvantages: A bit to graphic

I was recently given this book to read by a family member, and to be honest when I asked her what the story was about I was quite dubious as to whether I wanted to read it or not as this is not the type of story I would personally go for myself. I must say though that once I started reading I could not put it down and had completed it in two days. This book has twenty chapters, an acknowledements page and an Introduction which goes : " There ... Read review

Advantages: Emotional book about his lost childhood
Disadvantages: detail of abuse

Ive recently finished this book and have one word to say EXCELLENT. This book is man who tells the puplic is childhood, how he was treated badly and what he went through his life because of his father abusing him. His father treated him like a animal; he was made to do things that as a child he wouldnt understand (abused). I would love to read this book again; nearly everyone in my family has read this book and all loved it. It is in great detail ... Read review

Review of Please, Daddy, No: A Boy Betrayed - Stuart Howarth by jemmarhodes168

Advantages: Real life content makes the book all the more moving
Disadvantages: Some of the content is hard to read through and highly emotional

This book was without doubt the most emotionally moving read I've ever experienced. I couldn't put it down and finished it within 3 days. It was tough going in some places but gave me such insight to the suffering that children can go through, and then the suffering that can befall them as adults. The book takes us through the life of Stuart Howarth, from a small boy of 3 years old right up to adult hood: from his mental and sexual abuse as a child, ... Read review
