Diamond, the best Pokemon game yet?

Advantages: Hours of playability
Disadvantages: A lot of the the storylines have been done before

Pokemon is a massive franchise which is popular all over the world, consisting of a tv series, series of films, collectible trading cards, collectible figurines and toys and a series of computer games. Although not as popular over here as it was some 8 or so years ago, the computer games are still very popular and I still enjoy playing them despite growing out of my pokemon phase! == Introduction == The format of the game is very similar to previous ...
...versions it will all seem very familiar to you. The majority of the game involves battling your pokemon against various challengers, using various battle attack and defence moves. The experience of this will make your pokemon stronger throughout the game. Each pokemon has a 'type', for example, grass, and it's type will be strong against certain moves but weak against others. Grass pokemon are weak against fire pokemon, but strong against rock and ...

Not just a girl's best friend, apparently

Advantages: A long, fun, and challenging adventure.
Disadvantages: Slightly girly name. Lots of the same. Occasionally slow.

...we arrive at the DS. Pokémon Pearl and Pokémon Diamond. So, what's changed? Why is the series worth revisiting again? Well, not much has changed really. Sure, it's prettier and noisier and there are even more of the pesky little blighters to catch but the core gameplay remains exactly the same. Is this a bad thing? That's pretty much down to you. But then I'm not the kind of person who enjoys finishing a review in a few short paragraphs. For those ...
...to battle, collect badges at Pokémon Gyms (a kind of boss battle), fight off a rival, and explore sub plots often by battling an evil organisation. Starting up Pokémon Diamond was as such reassuring since I was immediately able to name the hero and the rival, and within ten minutes of playing I had my first Pokémon and some familiar "go to this town" objectives. The first thing to really stand out for me were the graphics. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl ...

Poke-tastic

Advantages: Better graphics, new additions and extras work well for the most part
Disadvantages: same story may bore some, added diversions may irratate some

I bought a Nintendo DS Lite that came with 20 games including Pokemon Diamond. I had been playing Pokemon Silver on my gameboy only a few weeks ago so I was instantly struck by the improved graphics of the Nintendo, and the fun touch screen. The basic game plot seems to be the same as the others you capture pokemon, fight them, and try to beat gym trainers, and the elite four to be the champion. However, this version has a lot more side stories ...
...enter you pokemon into talent competitions- it doesnt affect the game so you dont have to do it if you dont want to but it can be a fun diversion from just fighting all the time. And travelling around is more complex as it isnt straight forward which city you are to go to. You also have to fight Team Galatic along the way, they are a band of baddies you are trying to destroy the universe and you have to stop them (no pressure there then). Some people ...

Pikachooo!

Advantages: Fun, lots of replay value, new Pokemon!
Disadvantages: Similar to older games

===Pokémon Diamond Review=== Pokémon Diamond is part of the famous Pokémon series which has been very successful and included those trading cards everyone used to collect, a rubbish TV show, movies and video games. I have only ever collected the cards for a while and played a couple of the games but I really like this game! Pokémon Diamond is almost identical to Pokémon Pearl apart from that certain Pokémon are only available on one or the other. ...
...DS. Pokémon games are role playing games (RPGS) In Pokémon Diamond you start in a whole new region called Sinnoh and begin your journey as a Pokémon trainer once you choose your starter Pokémon. After this you explore the land of Pokémon and go about getting gym badges and eventually beat the league. Trying to see and catch every Pokémon is another important thing to do and in Diamond and Pearl there are over 100 new Pokémon to get bringing the total ...

Gotta Catch Em All - Pokemon!

Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review

Pokémon :o) As a younger child I used to love playing Pokémon on my fatty Game Boy and Game Boy Advance! And at 19 (shh!) I still do! So almost everyone has played Pokémon before or even seen the cartoon that was shown on TV years ago (yes, I watched that too!). and I'm sure everyone knows what the whole Pokémon fantasy is, and the Storyline. - The Pokémon History! - Pokémon was first released in Japan for the Game Boy all the way back in 1996. ...
...Pokémon franchise. Originally in Pokémon, you played a young boy (you could pick his name) who was sent by a Pokémon Professor who was trying to learn about all of the Pokémon in the region you are in. Somehow you will receive your very first Pokémon from the Professor as well as a Pokedex which record information about each Pokémon you catch. I say somehow because in each different game (Pokémon Red, Blue, Green etc.), there are slight variations ...

Essential Update of an Excellent Series

Advantages: Loads to do, Online options, Deep Gameplay
Disadvantages: New pokemon designs sometimes patchy, doesn't change anything too drastically

POkemon is a game that most people can't help hearing about, one of Nintendos biggest money spinning franchises. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the latest installments of the series, and the first on the Nintendo DS. The game casts you as a "pokemon trainer", gives you one of the titular pocket monsters, and tasks you with searching the land to research and capture all the different species of pokemon. The basic idea of the game hasn't changed at ...
...those then you'll know what to expect from this one. On your quest to capture as many creatures as possible, you'll journey all over the "Sinnoh" region, battling wild pokemon, other trainers, and gym leaders. Defeating a gym leader earns you a badge that enables you to use certain moves that will allow you to make progress across the map, reach new towns and discover new creatures. This method of making progress is still entertaining, and gives ...

Pokemon keeps getting better!

Advantages: Great graphics, slightly different quest and plotlines, great new music, Wi-Fi play
Disadvantages: Not released in Europe until July 27

I bought pokemon diamond a month ago, as an American import as it is already released there. I'll make it clear that American versions of the game are COMPLETELY compatible with the European DS consoles, including the Wi-Fi modes. The first thing that struck me when I started up the game was the difference in graphics. This game is beautiful. The view also seems to be different, but that’s hard to explain you'll have to see it for yourself. Obviously, ...
...GBA to DS there are a lot of changes in the general game play/controls. Firstly, during battles, you now have the option to use the DS's stylus to control your pokemon moves or use a item. I really like this feature as it is fast, easy and simple. Your item bag is also arranged in a better way- you now have 4 categories to choose from when in-battle: HP/PP Restore, Poke Balls, Status Healers and Battle Items. This makes item use much easier during ...

No new flaws, not many new positives

Advantages: Can now trade with people from all over the world
Disadvantages: Graphics and sound quality could be much better

When the Pokemon cards came out I was young enough to be amongst those who would buy and trade them. At the same time I purchased my first pokemon game. Although I'm now an adult I recalled how much I enjoyed playing the gameboy version and gave this a try. The set up is the same old. There's a little bit of an intro story and then three pokemon to choose from at the beginning after which you'll be on your way. I was expecting this version to have ...
...The only real difference is the poketch which personally I don't find to be all that useful. The best thing about this version is that you can now trade with people from all over the world so it's easier for you to get the pokemon you want, no more having to wait around whilst your friends catch the pokemon you need for you to trade. Overall if you liked the old pokemon games you'll like this one but there's not much new about it so if you didn't ...

You Won't Be Able To Stop Playing This Game!

Advantages: Wi-Fi, New Features.
Disadvantages: None.

I just got Diamond about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I have to say this is the best Pokemon game I have ever played and the largest library of monsters than any game EVER made. I really didn't believe some of the things that I have heard about this game, they sounded too surreal and good to be true. I really enjoyed playing Pokemon Diamond. I think it’s a perfect game, really extraordinaire but then again that’s me being a Pokemon Fan for years. They couldn't ...
...love going underground, that is truly spectacular. The graphics for the whole game was absolutely wonderful. What I thought was very cool was the use of Wi-Fi which meant I could play it online against people worldwide. I also liked the Wi-Fi clubs. The voice chat is just so cool. I’ve really liked all of the Pokemon games so far. But this game was probably the best. The new legendaries are wicked, it’s cool looking and pretty awesome in battle. ...

Advantages: Addictive, compelling, fun!
Disadvantages: It can get frustrating!

...people who have played the Pokémon games for a few minutes will probably become extremely bored of them. However, you get out of the game what you put into it. If you buy this game, I can guarantee that you will get stressed, frustrated, and even angry at times. However, it's worth it for the satisfaction of completing the game. There are a couple of flaws with this game... The cities are laid out in a very random order - unlike previous Pokémon ...

Gotta Catch 'em all..again!

Advantages: Ot Pokemon on steroids
Disadvantages: battle scene graphics should be updated more

Ok I'll Come Clean I'm 31 years old and I love pokemon Diamond/pearl! There I've said it.... I originally purchased this game for my son but soon after I got the pearl version for my self and was hooked. I'm really looking forward to the next set of pokemon games coming out so I can get to be ...

aaahhh...the nostalgia

Advantages: very long game, online battles, fun minigames, suprisingly deep and addicting combat system
Disadvantages: weak animations, limited touch screen use

Pokemon Diamond is another solid rpg game for the Nintendo DS. Hundreds of new monsters, better particle effects, new minigames, online play and trading, and a long story that made me log in close to 80 hours into this game. Pokemon looks like a simple game but in reality, the combat system is surprisingly deep. I've spent hours thinking of ways to even out my monsters' moves sets, giving them items to hold, and training them up so that I can give ...
...complex strategy, a 5 year old can just as easily play this game without any trouble. After "beating" the game, there's online battles and trading and players can choose to go to the underground to play a competitive multiplayer minigame where they can lay traps for each other, dig for fossils, trick out a base, and capture the flag from other people's bases which is a fun diversion. The animations aren't very interesting however and I tend to turn ...

Gotta Catch `Em All

Advantages: Wi-Fi, New Pokemon, 2 Screens
Disadvantages: Wi-Fi Costs, 2 Diffrent Games

This is the first pokemon installation on the DS there has been previous pokemon games on the DS but none with the exploration like this one. There has been many installations of pokemon on video games so just encase you don't know what pokemon is here is a quick explanation. Gotta Catch 'em All... Pokemon!

Advantages: Keeps the best parts from the old games
Disadvantages: Too many unfamiliar Pokemon

As a kid i did the lot, i watched the TV show, collected the cards and played Pokemon Blue on the Gameboy Colour. Now, at the age of 21, i picked up Pokemon Diamond purely out of curiosity, would it be as good as the Blue and Red games? The answer was a resounding YES! Sure there are bad things about it, but there were also bad things about the old Gameboy Colour ones. My main dislike of the new game is the fact that it is full of unfamiliar pokemon ...
...my fault for being out of touch. Yet that makes it all the more satisfying when you find a familiar pokemon and manage to catch it. In terms of game play everything pretty much remains the same, i suppose the phrase "if its not broke don't fix it" comes to mind. The one exception is of course the touch screen on the DS, however even so the basic controls are still there. The only time the touch screen is used to full effect is when you are underground ...

Pokemon meet the DS!

Advantages: Its fun and highly addictive. Also its equipped with the amazing pokemon soundtrack
Disadvantages: Some parts of the game are harder than the previous pokemon games.

When i bought my ds all i wanted was the new pokemon. I didnt really know how good the game would be until a played it for the first time. The first point to take into consideration is the new pokemon. There are roughly 106 new pokemon in this game this includes new elvolved form of pokemon from the older games. Now onto the touch screen at the begining of the game outside of battle your touchscreen does virtually nothing in battle you can use your ...

Note: you can only do this after defating the pokemon league. Another cool thing is that if you have a broadband router you can connect to the internet using the ds wi-fi and trade with anyone in the world. over all this game is a brilliant buy for lovers of pokemon and will keep to occupied for hours on ...
