...for savoury snacks too, and Pringles count amongst one of my favourites. Today, it was Pringles Light of the Sour Cream & Onion variety. Yeah, I know they’re highly artificial, I know they’re not that good for me, I know they’re full of fat (despite being 33% less fat than regular Pringles) and I know that they’re manufactured by a huge multinational whose ethical practices leave a lot to be desired! And they’re also HIGHLY addictive!
So sitting ... ...to the 2 tubes of Pringles Light that had found my way into my Tesco trolley the other day on offer at two tubes for £2.
I love the cardboard tube, flipping up the plastic lid and adore the moment when you pop the foil covering to reveal the wonderful aroma of the culinary delight that you just know is about to tantalise your taste buds. OK then, I agree culinary delight may be a tad over the top, but tasty snack it certainly is.

...to an empty tub of Pringles anyway. I'm I pregnant and got a craving, I here you say. Nope, I'm not. I'm I just a big, piggy who gorges out on Pringles? Nope. I don't have a snout, but I do like to have my trotters in the trough so to speak. So why, have I just eaten a whole tub of Salt and Vinegar and STILL long for more? Pringles must be my favourate gourmet food, apart from spagetti bolognese of course. The company called Proctor and Gamble are ... ...long time to perfect Pringles the Pringles taste. Pringles have been on the market for 6 yrs or so now. I think they have found exactly how to make a perfect crisp, with lots of taste and a variety of flavours too. Apparently how they do it is like this but it is supposed to be a trade secret. They buy their potatoes in the form of potato flakes, then mix it with a little water to make it into soft dough. Wholesome ingredients are added, the dough ...

The word Pringles is emblazoned across the front of the tube in yellow writing, and a few stray crisps floating around underneath it to give the extraterrestrial feel (a must for crisp eaters). The words Texas Barbecue Sauce is in smaller letters underneath, and a picture of a sheriff’s badge (though what relevance that has to it I don’t know, maybe because everyone is Texas is a sheriff ).
... ...worked out a tube of Pringles is equivalent to about 7 packets of normal crisps, I would say in one sitting I have maybe eaten just less than a packs worth (which for me is unknown as I could eat three bags of crisps in a sitting).
As Pringles come in a tube, they are less prone to breaking up into little crumbs, which is ideal if you are having a buffet as you won’t have your less savoury guests raking around the crisp bowl for the biggest ones ...

If you think about, Pringles crisps are strange. I wonder who first thought of the idea- I imagine two guys sitting around eating a bag of mashed up crisps, and saying, "Hey, wow, we could avoid this problem by of creating the funny shape and stacking them in a tube- so NO MORE CRUSHED CRISPS." Nifty, cause, you know, I was losing sleep over having a few broken crisps in my bag…

This is not to say that they contain any less artificial taste and ingredients than fat Pringles. ...there were several flavours of Pringles available at our supermarket. I looked at paprika, onion, oriental, and hot spicy. There were some plain ones as well. I chose the hot and spicy. They didn't say they were suitable for vegetarians, but a quick scan of the ingredients, horrifying though it was, didn't suggest any kind of meat product. They don't mention being GMO-free, so probably contain something that's been modified genetically. It's difficult ... ...of the hot and spicy Pringles isn't overpowering when opening the pack, but after experimentally moving one nearer to my nose there was a distinctive odour: not unpleasant, but not particularly appetising either. Something like general Chinese cooking combined with a bit of chilli. More interesting is the shape: each Pringle is shaped roughly like a horse's saddle, and they're stacked up neatly inside the carton. I understand that this is due to ...

...My favourites have always been Pringles and so my cupboard is naturally well stocked for Chrimbo, and as usual in my food opinions, here are my findings:
~~~~~~PACKAGING~~~~~~
Pringles unlike other crisps come in a large cardboard tube instead of the usual packets, the tube is coated on the inside with foil to keep them fresh and they have two lids to keep them doubly fresh, one foil and then a pop off plastic lid.
The box is brightly decorated ... ...bottom of the tub. The Pringles logo to be found at the very top of the tub is an annoying Italian looking dude with a thick dodgy moustache (Don’t ask).
The actual colour of each tub depends on the flavor you choose, below is a list of available flavors and the colour box in which they come, (Sorry Phil but I do think this is quite relevant) .
Sour cream and onion – Light green box
Cheese and onion – Dark pink box
Salt and vinegar – ...
...replaces with 2 tubes of Pringles with different flavours, well if I didn't buy two then they would have been hijacked by my children never to be seen again and only the empty tube returned at the end of the day. So what are Pringles, funny name for a crisp don't you think? Pringles crisps are slightly different from the traditional crisp we find in those little rectangular bags as they are all uniform in shape and not random bits of sliced potato. ... ...In case you are interested Pringles have been around since the recipe was dreamed up way back in 1956 - OK not really that far back but given the date you can see where the Mr Pringle man comes from. By 1964 Pringles where in production so quite a long time from the idea to reality but by 1976 Pringle mania had swept the USA followed by its own official fan club in the 1980's, really a crisp has its own fan club how bizarre. ...* So....what are Pringles crisps? * Pringles contain basically the same ingredients as other crisps or crisp-like, snack-orientated products. They're shaped differently than most crisps though and taste different too. Water and 'other' ingredients are added to potato flakes to make a dough. The dough is cut into standard shapes, quick-fried and seasoned then sealed in tubes. 3 Tubes of Pringles = £2.50
I thought to myself, NO WAY, this cant be right.
So, I bought 2 sets of 3 tubes, since I thought they would go VERY fast.
Each pack of three contains 2 x Original Pringles, and 1 x Sour Cream and Onion.
My brother also bought a pack of three, so I swapped him my 2 x Sour Cream and Onion (Two packets remember), for his 2 x Original Pringles, and ... ...lid. The original flavour pringles come in a Red tube, with the normal design. And the Sour Cream and Onions flavour come in a Green coloured tube.
There is one thing I do not like about the tubes. I think it would be really good, if they made a tube, where you could lift up the bottom ...
...Gamble - the makers of Pringles - saw fit to put most of the flavouring on the ‘wrong’ side of the crisp – why the wrong side? Well think of the way up they arrive in the pack, and the shape of most mouths. ...chocolate and vanilla coke) is Pringles Potato Chips (or ‘crisps’ as they are referred to in the UK). They are evil. I’m sure that if I cut them (along with chocolate and vanilla coke, of course) out of my regime completely, I would weigh a few pounds less, but we don’t all need to be looking like supermodels, do we?
