Advantages: Fast paced play, much improved game engine, outclasses FIFA Disadvantages: Inconsistent control system, very questionable refereeing
...I am well aware that Pro Evolution 4 has been out for almost a year and also that it isn't long before Pro Evolution 5 hits the shelves. However, I've just recently picked up my copy of this game and started playing again, so given that it has only the one review, I thought I'd give you all some variety.
I've never been particularly impressed by Konami, their most memorable release for me being Catlevania for the N64 and that was hardly impressive. ... ...and everything changed. The first Pro Evolution game was released and FIFA had to step aside as the kings of football games. But I'm here to review the third edition of the game so that's what I'll do.

Advantages: smooth arcade-style gameplay, great graphics, masses of options Disadvantages: not all players names are correct, game can be tough at first.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (or PES as I will call it for the rest of the review) is essentially a fully updated and improved version of the old International Superstar Soccer that appeared on the Nintendo 64 amongst other consoles a few years back. I enjoyed that game greatly and am glad to say that the best bits of that game have been carried over to PES.
A flashy intro section awaits you once you've installed the game - with DVD ... ...desolate goalkeeper clapping his fans as he walks off the field and players with their heads in their hands. Then cut to a training session, match action, and the same players scoring goals/saving shots, etc - all set to dramatic music.
The impressive main menu system gives way to a mind-boggling array of options for fans of this (like me!).
