Advantages: Small and sleek.Does everything I reasonably need it too. Disadvantages: The stylet is maybe a bit fiddley.Built in battery.
...and that is I’m a Psion man through and through. I owned a series 3c back in the day, I had a 5mx (Ericsson MC 218) until I got drunk and dropped it. Rather than replace that I thought I’d just go for a Revo Plus as it seemed to do all the things I used the MC 218 for.
The functions I find the most useful are the Agenda, Alarm, World Time, Spreadsheet, Contacts/Database, Email and Word. This is, I’ve just realised, pretty much all of them.
Of course ... ...for everything, which is why Psion have provided a touch screen and stylet for easier navigation around the system. Admittedly the stylet is smaller than on the 5mx, hence a bit more fiddlely. The Revo combats this by being a lot smaller and lighter.
The other functions are pretty much standard throughout the PDA range but certainly a lot more powerful than the calculator style organisers. Strangely though the Revo has a built in battery which you ...

Advantages: A compact little number that fits in your hand Disadvantages: would be even better with flash memeory cards
I just bought my new Psion Revo Plus 16Mb from Yahoo auctions brand new for £120 ( although it is higher priced in the shops ..at just aver £200), the main reason for my purchase was mainly because I felt vunerable carrying my laptop about with me and needed something a little more discreet, less weighty but that could meet most of my needs whilst travelling, and I have to say that this little beauty has certainly fitted the bill...
Apart from having ... ...name a couple...
The Psion Revo plus also manages my Daily Diary, Contacts and telephone list..apart from being a world clock and distance measurer...
if that is not enough the Revo Plus comes with a docking station to link it to your PC so that it can talk with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to which it synconises with eveytime you log on....
I find the Revo key board manageable for my fat little fingers and the Stylus supplied is great for ...

Advantages: Keyboard, Speed, Ease of use Disadvantages: Screen not always clear in bad light, Why no lithium ion batteries?
...reason why I chose the Psion over Palm and Sony alternatives was that it comes with a tiny keyboard built in, this takes some getting used to because the keys appear to be hinged at the bottom so you need to press the top of the key to be sure of a key press being registered.
It comes with a cd rom of extra software such as opera web browser, a very good wap browser and a serial docking station. To save memory you can choose what you want to install ... ...On first impressions the Psion Revo Plus looks good and has a lovely smooth space saving opening mechanism. It is nice and thin when closed. A point to note is that the stylus can not be removed once the Revo has been docked. It weighs around 200g. I've heard a lot of stories about battery life but mine is ok so far and the best advice I can give is to ensure the first charge is carried out properly even though you may be itching to use your new ...

Advantages: Powerful and fully featured Disadvantages: No backlight
The Revo Plus builds on Psion's successful Revo machine by doublng the memory (from 8MB to 18MB) and by supplying a few extra goodies on the PsiWin CD that accompanies the machine. The software on the machine itself hasn't changed much since the Revo, and as there wasn't much wrong with it, this decsion seems to make sense.
The Revo is a well spec'ed little machine capable of doing far more than just diary and address book stuff, such as word process ... ...mobile phone SIM card, access POP3 email, send SMS text messages via your mobile, and surf web and WAP sites. As with other Psions, the Revo Plus comes with PC software to allow backups, conversion to PC formats (such as Office) and synchronisation of agenda and contacts information.
One of the two additional goodies found on the CD is a fully working version of the Opera web browser, which scores over the previous web browser in that it supports ...

Advantages: Leather, better looking than a plastic case, snug fit and reasonably cheap Disadvantages: Offers only slight protection when dropped.
...to find some hard plastic Psion cases. I wasn't too impressed, as they were around £20 at the time. So I'm sorry to say this, but I decided to pop down to my local PC World - and was plesantly surprised. What they had there, apart from the plastic hard cases (and I don't mean the students working there), was a Corniche black leather case. This was more like it. It has a slight bit of padding, but obviously offering nowhere near as much protection ... ...professional looking, I think.
It consists of a fold over pouch with a pop button to keep it closed. It forms a snug fit around the Revo, as it has been specifically designed for it. It also means that it's barely noticably bigger than the Revo itself.
I was able to buy the revo for the pleasant price of £11.99. Bargain. Worth every penny, as even though it's probably not as protective as you would hope, it's certainly helped a couple of times ...

Advantages: Internet, email, word, excel etc Disadvantages: no backlight, battery life
I got my Psion Revo Plus about 18 months ago a mate got it for me at cost price (so I can’t tell you how much I paid).
I use my Psion all the time including in the car. I have Route Planner Millennium Europe on it, so if ever I get lost (which I often do) I can look it up! I wish it had a backlight though because I end up trying to see the screen angling it towards the interior light in my car.
I also use it for doing my sms text messages through ... ...store more messages on my Psion than I can on my phone.
Also I surf the internet on it again using the infrared and my Ericsson. Even though it is a little slow!
I like the Contacts book on the Psion as well because it is easy to update. The phone programme is also good because I backup my mobile phone contacts into it so if I change my sim card I can easily send the information back to it.
It has a built in calculator but then again what hasn’t!

Advantages: Small, fast, whoops PDA's bum with ease Disadvantages: Not colour but you can't have everything
Ok, lets point out one thing first - the Revo Plus is very good - But I just saw the Revo 8Mb Version for £199 as standard in the shops so, unless you want some of the extra functions go with the older version. To be honest both versions kick Palm and CE operated mini pc's in to touch and only just now - with a 150mzh processor does one PDA come close to the speed of the Revo. The Word prog is excellent - once coupled with one of he free spell checks

Advantages: Fast, compact, some good aplications e.g. Word Disadvantages: Starting to get more diifficult to find programs, and relativly fragile
...games via infrared but now Psion users are declining and so finding someone you know with a Psion can be quite difficult.
When buying second hand, check the screen respnds to taps, and the keyboard works well (the keyboards keys work lose after a while) also if possible play a sound-this can help a LOT becuse a common fault with Revo's is the wire coming from the battery snapping and if when you play a sound it turns off think twice before buying.
... ...are the fact that:
1-No backlight
2-Memory not upgradeable
3-Fragile (especialy screen.
The 16mb on a plus model is almost always fine becuase files take up little space on a Psion..
So if you need a keyboard but dont want a laptop and need a long battery life... the Revo may just be the ticket. ...

Advantages: Small, compact, small keyboard and wide range of software Disadvantages: No backlight and lack of colour screen
The Psion Revo was the orginal organiser prior to the newer psion revo plus the original devise had a smaller memory of eight mb(now 16mb) and the original devise lacked the WAP browser and e-mail facility. These are the only two differences that are notible beetween the two devices. Overall both of these two very simmilar devises have there adavntages and their diadvantages. A major advantage of the psion revo over the other handheld devices is ... ...However like with most good things there is a problem.
